Hello everyone,

I only came across Firefly on the net around a year ago. I never heard of Joss Whedon before Firefly. Since than I became an activist, by the way the show hasnt even been broadcasted over here in Germany.

I convinced so many people to watch the show on DVD in the past year, I somehow felt like a missionary and it felt good. I´m so happy that other people enjoy these 14 episodes as much as I did and actually took something from it.

I noticed what you all have done throughout all those years, is amazing and very impressive. I´ve never seen so much courage, belief and dedication keeping in mind we are "ONLY" talking about a damn tv series. You know over here in Europe, the football fans, or as you call it soccer, are very close to what has happened with the Browncoats. If you support a team you support it your whole life. If someone has been over here during the Worldcup in 2006, you got a little glimpse of what football means in Europe. All Im saying is, it reminded me a lot of the browncoat phenomenon.

And I wish I was aware of this series when it all happened.

I´m working in the music industry since 20 years, and the fan phenomenon is what keeps the whole business running. Beeing a Depeche Mode fan myself for 26 years, I know what Im talking about ;)

But keeping in mind that its 2008 and STILL people cannot stop talking about it, new people come on board every day - how can this be over ?

Sometimes there are things in life worth fighting for, and yes this all sounds "pathetic", like the great great "Brian Kinney" used to say.

Let´s continue and not forgetting that NO-ONE can take the sky from us - NO-ONE !

SHAME ON YOU FOX - SHAME ON YOU !

SISTER

Welcome, Welcome to the obsession! I also have guilt pangs for not seeing the show when it aired - I actually became aware of Firefly after watching the moving, Serenity, on cable! Then we got the DVD's of the series and COULD NOT BELIEVE it wasn't given a chance! Since then I guess I've become an activist as well. Glad to have you aboard!

Hi Sister,

hey thanx for your reply.

I only found Firefly trough sidereel.com, as I avoide german tv like a plague, its boring and mediocre- Im glad I found sidereel and other sites to watch what interests me and when I want;)

After 2 episodes I was hooked although sometimes I didn´t get the language quite right as its not my mother tongue, but now I have seen the whole series around 10 times, I get all the jokes. And they are funny as hell.

I wish we could do something, I feel like a horse ready for race thats kept back in the stable ;)

Ive signed the season 2 petition already 2 times, does anybody know how many people have signed it already and if there is movement around it. Or is it dead ???

Ni Hao ma , mei-mei !

What really counts is that you've made your way home...And , we're happy to have you aboard !

We love the ruttin' 'new' folk , and we are sustained by your enthusiasm and , especially , your activism !

Truth be told , Firefly is never 'over' , and we're sure that you know that , too. Nathan , Jewel , Alan , and pretty much everyone else in the 'gang' are ready to come runnin' back to our shiny home , just as soon as Joss is able to give the Signal...Joss says that the reason we got our Serenity movie is because so many fans were able to 'believe unreasonably'...As long as we're able to do that , the light of the Firefly will still burn...

Love keeps her 'in the air'...We're thrilled that you've brought so much Love to the 'Verse...

Be sure to treat yourself to the 'Done The Impossible' DVD , AND the Soundtrack...You will love them both , and they'll make you ever prouder that you are so Shiny !

It doesn't make us any different if we saw Firefly when it aired or discovered it later (although those that didn't see when it aired didn't have to suffer through the week to week wait for more!) it's just such a great sign that we keep getting this kind of response from new folks to the Firefly universe. Good post and nicely said by the way emmapeel66, welcome aboard and 'imagine' a loving pat on the back right about now for proliferating Firefly to others!! That definitely qualifies you as a Browncoat in good standing!

Hi there,

thanx so much for the sweet words, i´m glad finally meeting people feeling the same way I feel about this. Over here there are not many of them...

I own "We´ve done the impossible" dvd already.

One of the bands I manage, Cowboy X from Ireland, is even thinking about naming a song after it on their upcoming album, as they have fallen for the series. I gave them the DVD Box for christmas last year and they watch it all the time.

In Germany TV is the worst, believe me, you in the US or UK have at least some tv series to choose from but Germany is wasteland.

I called RTL, the german TV station that owns the rights for Firefly already 20 times plus a couple of emails to convince them to finally broadcast it. So far no luck. We are 80 Mio people here in this country, I´m sure there would be loads of people loving this show, if they would have been given a chance...

In every Dvd store I always make sure Firefly and serenity are at the front row.

Whenever I send out an email, it always says " YOU CAN`T STOP THE SIGNAL! at the end. The same for all my invoices I´m sending out. Some people have already asked what this about and I introduced them to Firefly.

On my Myspace page I have a little video piece of Firefly/Serenity, also at my facebook site.

My car has a bumpersticker saying browncoat.

If there is anything else I can do let me know, as I love this show so much, it really means something to me. There is only one other show I feel the same way thats Queer as Folk.

Take good care

Beate

Ahoy, emmapeel66 you sound as rabid as a lot of US and UK fans. Welcome home, by the way. You are #31577 to sign up on this, the shiniest ship in the 'Verse.
I'm handing out big, ripe strawberries and mugs of rich, chewy Mudder's Milk to all the new members, so join in the feasting.
We invite everyone up to the galley to question the buffet.

Please do not step on ShipsCat or into her dish. :;-)

STRANGEBIRD

Welcome to the 'verse. Please keep your arms and legs in the shuttle at all times, and watch out for those gorram Reavers.

Seriously. Always nice to see a new face around here. Keep spreading the word. It's the most important thing we do. Eventually... we'll rise again, The only question is when. We're, for the most part, a patient and determined people.

Hi there,

strawberries and mudders milk are most welcome. Try to keep all my parts inside the ship at all times.

By the way I´m a very good cook. We learned that beeing a good cook and beeing female can be a very dangerous combination when your name is Josaffbridge.

In my case, totally harmless - I love my captain tight pants.

So thanx everyone for your oh so warm welcome, thats one of the reasons why I love this series as well, the fans seem different from other fan groups.

Merci & enjoy your weekend everyone

Beate

Hey,

love the Avengers, but only the episodes with Diana Rigg as for me she is the real Emma Peel.

I think I was a tv series nerd already when I was a child starting with Wickie and the Bee Maja. Followed by Captain Future, Catweazle and Pan Tau. Don´t know if you are familiar with an of these, I think they might have only be shown over here in Europe.

As a teenager I discovered the Avengers as I loved of course the clothes and the designs, but even more how strong, smart and independent Emma Peel was, compared to other tv series where woman were depending on men. Maybe another reason why I like Firefly so much, the strong female characters AND whats even more important, how the men on this ship learn to deal with that strengh and respect the woman. That´s just great.

And the dialogues, I mean, the dialogues, how can someone come up with something so intelligent. Its just genius.

The prisoner and the secret agent, I think it wasn´t on german TV, Monthy Python, of course love them. Unbeatable humour ;)

Humour is something thats a bit difficult over here, to follow the chliche, germans aren´t that funny I have to admit ;)

Maybe thats one of the reasons why I started with UK and US tv series early...
