If you happen to have any BSG season and the Firefly season then you can check this out. In Firefly look at the planet that they take Tracey home to, look when they are going into the atmosphere being chased by the alliance (about 28 minutes into the episode). Then look at any of the opening credits of BSG when it shows Caprica being nuked. You may notice that it is the same picture just turned and zoomed in a little and the color is changed. But it is the same picture. So go check that out and tell me what you think

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Haven't bothered to check, but it wouldn't surprise me since Zoic did the FX for both series.

Perhaps Earth-That-Was is really Caprica? You decide. At the very beginning of Serenity, there appear to be some "explosions" on E-T-W then ships leaving in a big hurry. Hmmm.....

Hmmmmmm, interesting. That would be awsome if my two favorite shows collided into one.

I think those were the exhaust plumes of the ships taking off, not explosions.

I like to think that, we left Earth and started Caprica? Think of Firefly as a Civil War and BSG is Star Trek of our time, ya know. Firefly is the early history of BSG? Kinda has a full circle ring to it.

oh well...

I can understand that. But, those would have to be some mighty big-ass explosive take-offs to be seen from space.

BSG and Firefly colliding into one? Hmm

shit, why are you giving me such ideas. i had to write it, i just had to:

Alternate beginning to BSG 4.1

As battle commences between the Cylon and Colonial fleets, Kara’s viper jumps into the system, and meets Lee inside the nebula.

Apollo (in shock and surprise): "You're back?"
Starbuck: "I've been to Earth-That-Was, Lee! It's shiny!"
Apollo: "It's s-what?"
Starbuck: "I've been there. Came back. Gods sent me. Two times two is four, four of five have been revealed, but only to the audience! They are not our enemies! But they don't know! Five! Prime number! Five-pointed star is power! I am going to take you there, Lee!"
Apollo: "Kara? Are you completely off your axle? What are you talking about? We all thought you had died!"
Starbuck: "Did! Was dead for three days, then returned! I will redeem the human race and lead you to salvation!"
Adama (over the com): "What's that gorram religious gibberish? Laura, is that you again? Have you been pinching from the Doc's chamalla again? Get out of the com, we're in the middle of a battle right now, you know?"
Apollo: "It's Kara, she's come back!"
Adama: "She did what? That's probably a Cylon trick, Lee. Shoot that gorram freak down at once, dong ma?"
Apollo: "But she seems to be Kara alright!"
Adama: "Cut the BS, Cylons probably cloned her. Might have cut on her brain too, just to see how much she could take. Just listen to the nonsense she's putting out over the com to the rest of the fleet."
Starbuck (on all channels): "The thirteenth colony is a fertile land and we shall thrive, we shall rule this land and we shall call it... this land. (deeper voice) I think we should call it your grave. (normal voice) Oh, frak your sudden but inevitable betrayal, you motherfrakking Cylon sleeper agent. (deeper voice) Arr, arr, mine is an evil laugh."
Adama: “Shut up, Kara.”
Starbuck (starting towards the incoming raiders): “I aim to misbehave!”
Adama: “Well, that sound like her, alright. Now shut the frak up, both of you. There’s a whole fleet of Reavers upon us.”
Apollo: “Raiders, dad.”
Adama: “Ravers, Readers, who cares? Do something!”
Apollo: “Sure would be nice if got ourselves a couple of strategic nukes, dontcha think?”
Adama (looks at the screen in the Galactica’s CIC): “What is she doing now?”
Apollo: “She’s flying towards the whole Cylon fleet alone.”
Adama: “Kara! Come back! Starbuck! That’s an order!”
Starbuck: “No power in the ‘verse can stop me!”
Adama: “Oh, yes there are. And a whole squadron of them is coming at you. Get back into formation.”
Starbuck (more to herself; but the com is still on): “I can kill you with my brain.”
Apollo: “No, you can’t Kara. That was Boom…Athena’s special trick.”
Starbuck: “Oh, gosa!“

I always assumed that they were exhaust fumes hitting the space side of the atmo. If the planet is used up then it might have been pretty thick and condensed with pollutants etc. and form a barrier of some kind.

Rainstick:
That's funny. Shinily done. Nice play on the real lines.

STORYMARK

I like to do a little extra geeky connecting the dots, and consider BSG to be a bit of a far-off sequel to Firefly. Firefly is the old west, with BSG being the post-modern 21st century equivalent.

The fleet on BSG is looking for Earth-that-was. The Core worlds on FF became the 12 colonies on BSG, with the outer colonies being the border worlds from FF.

If I really feel like a geek indulgence, I think of Cowboy Bebop as the 1940's era in-between. The Caprica movie (or spin-off, if it makes it) will essentially be the 80's).

I do the same thing with The Terminator and Matrix trilogies.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Perhaps they had revived Project Orion ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_%28nuclear_propulsion%29) in order to get big colony ships off the ground?

Or picture this. BSG finds earth at the last episode of season 4 (series finale) and they find it deserted. Everyone left 500 years ago to find a new worlds (our firefly universe) because the earth got used up!

Anybody who's seen BSG will have looked through a window and seen none other than Serenity herself Landing. It's Official. BSG steals stuff from Firefly. EVEN if firefly came after BSG (I don't do chronology) Same goes for the planet. Firefly is the god of all sci-fi, and this even beats some of the cooler star trek, star wars, X-series etc etc. Firefly Wins. It's like the trump card. Play that, you win. For ever.

Way I see it really.

Anybody who disagrees with any of this violently can do so. But no matter what you do, "You can't take the sky from me".
