In Bushwhacked, when the feds are searching the ship, right before we zoom out to see Simon and River outside, you can see a couple of the soldiers turning over the placemats on the table! What kind of fugitives were they expecting to find hidden under placemats?!?

RIVER

Good. Thanks for the update.

Don't squat with your spurs on.

That did come off as a little silly. They should have just kicked the table over.

I do think that they were searching for every little pittling violation they could find. I don't know what would be hidden under placemats. Maybe they have a regulation for place settings.

Very, very flat fugitives.

I laugh at that scene every time I watch that ep.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Perhaps the placemats concealed a portal to another dimension where some fugitive could have been hiding? LOL

I thought that part was funny too.

Obviously, Gov't employees. :)
Not thinking about what it is they 're doing, just 'looking' for fugitives - and anything else they can find.

Yeah, they might be in need of some quality placemats or something.

Kind of reminds me of the scene from Spaceballs when they were "combing" the desert for the droids...

I can see most of you've never had your car or home 'tossed' by the cops.

They won't outright damage anything, usually, but they take great and special care to make as horrific a mess as possible, smirking at you all the while - and this leads to "searching" places that whatever they're looking for could not possibly be, just to annoy you, lord their power over you, and force you to clean up the mess.

Learned that one the hard way forcibly evicting a roomie after he got into drugs.

I know in excruciating detail why Mal hates the Feds so much, and fully agree with him.
