(Reposted from previous thread:)

Manual mornin' stats BOMP!

[Surfnom!]

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://www.richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble getting into the site in heavy traffic you can try an alternate address instead. I recommend bookmarking them all, for rapid transition, if you have trouble voting.

You can vote for more than one show at a time; just check all the boxes you like, then submit your vote, once every hour. You can only nominate one show per hour, at:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/nominations.html

Voting efficiently (i.e., with minimal time between votes, over the requisite 60 minutes) is crucial to maximizing your voting power. Download FlyVote by FlyVote (a fellow Browncoat voter, so, you know the program is good!). It'll remind you when it's time to vote, each hour: http://usbmicro.com/misc

This is a NEW version of the program, with new features, including buttons to all three "portals" to the voting page, in case one isn't working, or is overloaded, as well as a button to reset the timer, for those occasions when it gets out of sync, because you don't minimize it immediately after voting. Simply hit the reset and then minimize and you are back on a 1 hour schedule. Download it to replace the older version.

Top two shows as of this morning:

(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)

Total votes Firefly: 614,419 (613,402)

Total votes Xena: 493,870 (493,356)

Yesterday, Browncoats voted 1,017 (1,043) times.

Yesterday, Xenites voted 514 (529) times.

(Xenites voted 503 (514) times less than Browncoats, yesterday.

Yesterday, Browncoat votes fell by 26; Xenite votes fell by 15.

Firefly is 120,549 (120,046) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #23 show Star Trek: The Original Series 115,547. That puts us at 4,451 (4,954) votes away from a 125k vote lead, about 8.85 (9.64) days!

We'll get our next banner, for 615,000 votes, in another 581 (1,598), and, .57 (1.53) days! Look for it tomorrow!

Our next, big goal, 625,000 votes, is 10,581 (11,598) votes, and, 10.40 (11.12) days away!

6,619,065 (6,606,713) votes have been counted as of 04/10/08. Yesterday, 12,352 (12,265) votes were cast. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast in that period, we needed to vote 1,236 (1,227) times, of which we fell short by 219 votes. Our share fell to 9.2825653% (9.2845269%) of all votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly and the Whedonverse, so, let's return the favor, shall we?):

Let's welcome Babylon 5 to the family!

A number of B5 fans have let me know that they've been voting for Firefly, Dark Shadows, and other members of our voting cooperative; now, I think it's time to recognize their efforts, and encourage folks to return them the favor! B5 is also a great show, if you haven't already seen it!

#15 show Babylon 5 got 418 (371) votes, yesterday, and, is on track to pass #14 show Stargate SG-1, which got 256 (249) votes, in 48.5 (65.73) days.

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 556 (555) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 303 (297) votes, yesterday, in 118.7 (117.38) days. BSG is also closing in on the 5th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 6,231 (6,787) votes, and, 11.21 (12.23) days, away!

#7 show Buffy got 574 (556) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 334 (328) votes, yesterday, in 53.94 (57.83) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 33,473 (34,047) votes, and, 58.32 (61.24) days, away, while Farscape 61.46 (63.6) days from getting there, first.

Buffy's still ahead in the Hall of Fame race! Let's vote to keep her there!

#10 show Angel got 521 (505) votes, yesterday. Angel is currently receiving enough votes to pass #9 show Combat!, which received 370 (350) votes, yesterday, in 53.44 (53.04) days (#11 show Jericho got 787 (721) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to pass Angel in .02 (1.25) days). Unfortunately, Angel will fall back to #11, tomorrow, until he can advance back up past Combat!

#30 show Dark Shadows got 409 (406) votes, yesterday, and is receiving enough votes to pass #29 show Charmed, which got 224 (223) votes, in 22.08 (23.33) days.

Thanks, again, for your time, and, for your support of these great shows!

P.S.: For those who are interested in Moonlight in the Nominations Poll:

#48 show (#8 in the Nominations Poll) Moonlight Total votes 29,407 (29,064).

Moonlight got 343 (345) votes, yesterday. It will take 6.62 (7.46) days to pass #47 show Lancer.

AND...

Simon & Simon 8540
Surface 8422

As expected, no more shows passed, and we only got 148 Nominations votes. It's another 118 votes to pass Simon and Simon, so, we'll pass it tomorrow.

Good Morning Browncoats VOMP (Surface)

With ongoing support for John Doe, Red Dwarf, Dark Shadows, Buffy. Bonanza (take that Xenites) and sometimes Sarah Conner.

Firefly support goes without saying.

So let's get right to... (There's that booming voice again)

The Surface Daily Report

Before we get started, let's have a little chat. Yesterday's Nom total (148) was down substantially from the day before (174). I have to figure that's because A/ It's hard to sustain big numbers every day and B/ We knew we had a two day pass on the next show, and it's hard to stay enthusiastic unless you are passing shows.

Well, consider this. As we get closer to the top there are gaps of thousands of votes between shows. If we lose energy after a couple of days without passing a show, what will happen if it takes a week or two, to pass the next one? While we are only days from getting on the top 20 chart, we are months from the top of the list.

So, what to do? Well, this is where we are going to require the type of dedication that we Nimsters are famous for. Jst as we never give up on Nim and Surface, we must keep on plugging at this too, if we are truly dedicated to getting to the top of this list. However, it's unreasonable to expect us to put everything into it all the time, so that's why I leave that part in the report every day about getting more people helping. It is imperative that we find other Surface fans. Go to other boards and find them. Remember 10 million people watched the finale. They are out there somewhere and we need their help. Ask friends and family to help. If they use the reminder program while they are on the computer, they will only spend 20 seconds an hour voting for Firefly and whatever other shows they like, and then nominating Surface. How hard is that?

So let's get going...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday we got an anemic 148 Nominations. I know we can do better today. We are only 118 away from Simon and Simon, but they average 18 Noms each day so the magic number for today is 137. Meanwhile, due to our low total yesterday, our only real competion, Torchwood, was able to cut our gain in half.

Go, go, go Nimsters.

TAKE NOTE : Only a few shows up is Maverick, which holds the lowest position on the chart of the Top 20 in the Nominations poll. I want that position (for a start LOL)

Maverick Status : 11389 (44 yesterday)

We only have 27 more shows to the top of the list. 7 more to the Top 20.

To see the Top 20 Nominations Chart, click the "Click here for daily totals" link below the Top 40 box. Scroll to the bottom.

Let's get our numbers back to that 200 Nom level. get your friends to help again. Have them sign up at savesurface so they'll receive these reminders too.
--------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------
Targets

The number in parentheses, next to each show, is the previous day's nom total (if available)
Between each show, is the number of noms to the next show.

Torchwood 8850 (69)

Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters 8663 (42)

Simon & Simon 8540 (11)

Back from lunch vump.
Looks like Angel is going to slip from the Top10 on the morrow as Jericho enters. Not to worry though, Angel will be back in less than a pair of fortnights if the Angelicans keep plugging.
'Course if we /all/ were plugging for Angel, Jericho wouldn't be able to pass, but that's nothing to do with this board...

Trying to get back into the pattern/routine is all. Last thread started early on Tuesday (should have been 09:ish Monday), the Weekend Edition (w.e.) gets started 09:ish Thursday morning when the stats come out.
The w.e. is in defference to some of our more frugal (that's French for 'cheap' ) members who are still using dial up. They have trouble when the thread gets too long.

Next time the Dwarfster.

You know Ray, that would be an easy thing to help John Doe, if we had a few fans on board, other than those helping here (on the side)

I put a thread up at TV.com asking for fan help, some time ago, but NO ONE has responded there.

I'm afraid it's a lost cause, unless we can find some sites where a few John Doe fans hang out.

Someone must have watched that show, right?

"Lost cause?" I dunno 'bout that, Jstn... Per your numbers, Thomas the Purplebelly Engine gets the same number of noms, ordinarily, as John Doe. For John to pass TtheTE, all it would take is for John to get even a few more votes, each day, than he's getting, now, until he passes the Alliance choo-choo.

Then, it's back to gradually passing the no-vote shows, again.

I can swing a couple extra noms for John, each day, for a while. How 'bout everybody else?

VOMP (Red Dwarf)

Actually Ray, while I don't keep the averages for that show, like I do for mine, I'm pretty sure Thomas had a bad day yesterday. It usually does better than J.D. by a few Noms.

Furthermore, I'm stretched out pretty thin in the Noming for others dept, as is, so I'd have to sacrifice from something else.

I'm really uncomfortable about asking Nimsters for help with another show as well. They'd have to give up Surface Noms, and I'm already asking for support for Top 40 shows as well. I wouldn't want them getting comfortable with Noming other stuff. It's hard enough keeping them focused.

I'm not saying it's a lost cause, just that it is under the current conditions.

We simply must find J.D. fans if they are to do better. It is "their show" after all.

I'm not trying to be mean, jst realistic.

I was thinking, about the John sit., that if us freelance votes, ones like me who don't have a specific show that they want to vote for (like me), then us peoples can temporarily drop the noms for other shows to boost John Doe a little more then we have been doing.

And, for FT's sake I've been voting Buffy and Angel along with Firefly, and it would be cool if other people would do the same- you can vote for as many shows as you want on the main part.

VOMP (Surface)

You're welcome Tex. We'll figure out something.

Leopard - I'd hate to see you give up Noming Surface, as we really need the help getting into the Top 20 Nom list and we are only 25 days out or so. Perhaps you could alternate between the two shows.

I could concentrate my alternate Noms on Doe until we get passed "the little train that could" (Thomas), but then in fairness to Rallem, I'd have to do the same for an equal time for the Dwarf, so it would then be up to everyone else to stay ahead.

What we really need is to find 4 or 5 John Doe fans.

Does anyone know of a site with any???

I just thought of an old TV board I used to write on and left a message there (while in the middle of writing this, aren't I clever LOLOLOL)

If we can find a half a dozen fans who will vote, Doe can hold it's own.

Not mean, just pragmatic, Jstn. Charity does begin at home, after all =^[.]~=! You already do a lot for the other shows in the Noms, not to mention Firefly and the other Top 40 shows we collectively support. Dun worry if you can't do more.

If TtheTE is accustomed to getting more than John's usual votes, I figger I can boost the gain for the Doe, just like LeopardFlan says, even if only just long enough (and, a few days oughtta do it) to pass the Blue Choo-Choo.

I wasn't really directing my suggestion to the Nimsters (they have their own pot to stir, as it were), but, to anybody who has some noms they can spare. I like to see the shows we pull for moving up, even if it's a slow progress. But, I don't want to see John Doe, for example, stall out behind a marginal kiddie program (even if Ringo Starr and George Carlin were the station managers on the show, for a while).

Like Jstn said, you're not alone. Remember: "If you can't walk, crawl. If you can't do that, find someone to carry you!" Well, this VOMPJohnboostnom makes four for me, today, which is half of what John got in total, yesterday. I'm here for ya, Tex, and, I'm not the only one.

Got to go, 'nother thunderstorm

Leopard, you are a stalwart! You bet we can get John over the hump! And, many thanks to you and everybody else who is voting in the Top 40 for any or all of the shows in the stats I post. All of them have folks who vote Firefly, and, I take it as a personal favor when anybody votes to support those friendships.

Anyway, we'll see what tomorrow brings, vis a vis John Doe and Thomas the Alliance Train. Let's be bad guys, and drop Jayne in through his roof!
