"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

Four hours ago I answered this. And then the board went all hinky and I lost my post. Heck I was even hoping for a double post, for chrissakes. Nice to know that some constants remain no matter how long you leave.

Anyway:

Hey I have a ponder.... how cynical is too cynical?? At what point do you think that it's less cynicism and more weariness and frustrated anger??

The way I see things, frustrated anger is the heart of cynicism. And of bad skepticism (as opposed to true skepticism which honest doubt). Weariness to the point of being jaded is still just cynicism.

Having said that, I trust no one. Everyone lies. VERY few people ever have your best interest at heart. Most will never rise above their own needs, and the ones that can do so by believing themselves to be generous, all the while doing it solely for their own satifaction, gratification, self-aggrandizement or out of guilt, to ease their conscience.

And I am just not enough of a cynic (a-cynical?) to believe that people mean no good all of the time. I believe there are truly noble motives out there.

And I believe a greater love is possible. And I believe it happens. I just doubt every instance I encounter.

Oh, and DTH, here's a thought:

Psssssssssssssssssssssssss.

Just hold it. (Wait till we're in the shower...)

A bit? *snerk*

I don't know if I can fathom "too cynical". I don't think I've ever experienced it. Most of the cynicism I personally project usually goes unnoticed.

As for helping people, I am a big fan of it, and you can ask MsB, I'll sacrifice my own happiness and well-being if it means I can help someone else.

Hmmm. Cynicism as an external experience. I've always considered it a state of mind. (which some of us obviously have more talent concealing than others )

Squeeze from the middle of the tube? Who cares?

Leave the cap off? Please put it back on.

Does the toilet paper roll pitch overhand or underhand? Overhand. But only because the toilet paper holder is so damn close to the toilet, it's almost impossible to contort yourself to using it when it's underhand.

Is 20 guys too many to have over for the football game? Not if I'm not there. You want that many people over? Fine. But I'm not waiting around to serve them. I'll be off doing my thing while you do your's.

Can I stay and watch from the peephole when your friends come over for a lingerie party? What is this thing called a lingerie party?

Is having a peephole okay? On the front door, yes. Anywhere else, pretty much no.

Can I try some on after they leave? Only if I never find out.

I have no problems with thong liners. Never felt the need to use them, even though thongs are my preferred choice of undies, but I'm sure some people find them useful.

Okay before this all gets lost in the annals, IT WAS NOT A LIST. I was waxing poetical and MsB took my rhetorical "list" and turned it into a LIST. Which is fine--it's been fun--but I really had no desire to know some of these things. Well, not really. Okay, maybe a little, but I didn't intend it that way. In the beginning. At first.

Wow. you folks really gave this some thought...
Quote:

Be in the bathroom while the other makes stinky? Why would you want to be?

See "On each other? Gack. No." Some people like that kinda stuff. Actually, "want" may not be in the equation. Single bath, double occupancy, no-time-to-get-ready-you're-in-my-way might necessitate the behavior. See also "Eyes Wide Shut" TC and NC getting ready to go out to a formal, "watered down" version." No, on second thought, don't.
Quote:

Leave the seat up? No. Men will never understand until they regularly experience the "splash-down" in the middle of the night. It is not fun and is why we get so peeved about a seat that is left up. Be considerate is all we're asking.

Neko (pounce-hugs Neko in the Land of Hula) tried valiantly to explain the not turning on the light, but, if we were talking scorpions instead of toilet seats I'm pretty sure "It Buuurns!" is the last worry. Just sayin'.
Quote:

Does the toilet paper roll pitch overhand or underhand? Overhand. But only because the toilet paper holder is so damn close to the toilet, it's almost impossible to contort yourself to using it when it's underhand.

Too close for underhand, too close for over. I've been in the cortortionist's bathroom before and it's just not fun no matter how you slice it. Move the roll?
Quote:

You know thong but have never been to one of these? Girls, this lady needs some immediate attention over here!

Now, now MSB...just a bit more and you don't have to think of THESE kids at all. Just new ones. I think pounding some of them with a hammer might jeopardize you future.

JQ...of course I know some people enjoy fetishes. There are all kinds of fetishes...some fairly tame, some il-freakin-legal. I may be the good girl, but it doesn't mean I'm naive. If a pee-er on-er finds someone who enjoys being peed on, more power to them. I question the psychology of fetish-ism and why some of them are developed, but whatever. I think some are fine, some are mildly disgusting and some are signs of some serious issues.

Yay for no more fires and the Jeep still running! Boo for work sucking donkey cock and not winning the lottery. I'm just glad that you're still hanging around these parts, and using your work-skills (tinkering with tiny parts, yes?) to make pretty things. It really is great to see you.

Quote:

Back tracking, I read that you've been feeling better (Yay! \o/) and have a new contract job.

It's so nice to see you again! Yeah, I said that already, but it's still true. ^__^

Things are definitely happy and shiny with me. I used to say that other than my health, I really had nothing to complain about. Now it's nearly embarrassing. Keeping this thing in remission requires "constant vigilance", as they say, but that's really just about avoiding certain foods now, along with the things I've been doing for years to keep infection away (Purell, etc.). So no biggy there, really. Well, other than not being able to have ice cream. That bugs me sometimes.

I both love and hate my new contracting gig -- I love that I'm able to work full time+, love that I'm getting to take on more responsibility and be in a leadership role for the first time, and I actually really like the project as well. But the people running the company, despite having the best of intentions, have made some really dumb decisions, and are more and more resembling chickens with their heads cut off. Each new "oh wait, let's do this instead" cuts down the chances that we'll actually be able to ship this thing, and a couple of their "oh wait"s are threatening to really piss me off. But hey, contractor, so I really don't care, at the end of the day.

Everything really is great. I'm getting along with all my family members right now, after spending 14 days with them in Austin and in Disney World over Christmas and New Years. My brother married a fantastic girl in January (I decided he could marry her when I found out she had all of "Charlie the Unicorn" memorized; she's a Browncoat too!), and my second niece/nephew is on the way. Really fantastically content these days.

I had a discussion with a woman on a bus while we were in Disney World, about my illness. It turns out that my brother's new wife has a different type of autoimmune arthritis that really flared on her while we were in Florida, between the traveling, the walking, and all the stress of planning her wedding, and we bonded over that. We were talking about it on the bus one night, and started talking to the woman next to us, who was in a wheelchair, also because of autoimmune arthritis. I remembered how scared I was last summer about that trip, about having to use my cane and get a "special assistance pass" so I could avoid stairs, maybe even having to get a wheelchair just to make it through the vacation. Talking with her really made me grateful for my health, and I realized that if or when I relapse, I'll be incredibly grateful to have had that vacation, completely without medication until the flight home, and now to have had these months of working full time and feeling productive and smart and valuable. I'll do everything I can to keep this in remission, but if my body decides otherwise, at least I'll know that remission *is* possible, that one relapse isn't the rest of my life in declining health stretching out in front of me.

Anyway, lots of babbling. Things are great, and I'm crazy grateful that they are.

Now, now, JQ. You're not being civil. At all. You know HK doesn't like you. We all know you have a weird infuation with her...probably because she doesn't like you. And yet you insist on making comments full of inneundo, etc.

Play nice (which in my tiny, little mind would mean stop talking about or to her.)

You're right. They aren't the same thing. But both can be fun. ;)

Yes, I realize that I'm breaking up this hate party between HK and JQ (though HK's last response sounded like something I'd say. Go, kitten!)

But, I have a very serious, semi-hypothetical question. What are some good things to pack, places to go, etc. when planning to run away? I already have some stuff figured like...

-Pack as much food and water as possible
-Pack dense, nutricious stuff (power bars and the like)
-Two outfits- one summer, one winter, wear one of them according to season.
-Wear stuff with pockets so you can put extra stuff in them
-Take all your money, and maybe some of your parents (it's an investment on their part, they won't have to pay for you anymore)
-Head for a big city, it'll be a lot easier to blend in with a crowd, and I'd think people pretty much mind their business, and wouldn't be actively looking for a runaway
-Don't buy a lot of stuff- make the money last as long as possible

But, I have no idea what I'd do when I get to a big city, or where I could find an abandoned building ('cause I can't be wasting money on an apartment), and I don't even have any street smarts because I live in a hick town (thank you so much, mom&dad). So, could you guys help me out in this department?

Oh, alright. I'm sorry. But I don't think your mind is tiny or little or any other diminutive adjective you can think of. You are not a dumb California blonde. I've always enjoyed our online time together.

Two things I want to respond to and I'll stop. I don't think having a crush on HK would make anyone weird (and yes I know that's not what you meant). Her comments, lacking all innuendo, were not civil neither. But like I said I've brought that on meself.

How are your equine pursuits these days? Cast- and sling-free I hope.

'Looks to me like you've got the packing part pretty much all figured out, though I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert. One thing I'm fairly au fait with, however, is big city, so I might be able to help you with that. First thing: head for the skyscrapers. They're bristling with parkings and other semi-salubrious holes for you to crawl into when you need to get some shut-eye. There's also an abundance of prosperous pedestrians who will occasionally provide you with some extra coin if you ask real-nice. From there, try out the NPO's, if you're lucky they can get you decent food, shelter and, if they have a particularly strong liking for you, maybe a little shit-job. Apart from that, well... don't talk to strangers, keep a knife handy... Oh, and pack some blankets. Lot's of them. And if you have a dog, take him with you. It'll cost you a little extra to feed it, but it'll help keeping the more adventurous lowlifes in check.

So yeah, huh, good luck!

EDIT: Huh... Why did you ask about this stuff again?

Um ok so on a lighter note. I have the chance to meet my hearts desire (No its not my Nathan). However, this person does happen to be an actor. He is most famous for a really big science fiction trilogy and I am afraid to go!

I am sure I will act like an idiot or he will be soooooooooo not interested in even talking to me. Quick, someone find my self esteem and send it to me overnite!

Hrmmm...why would someone ruin their life by running away? If whatever life your living right now is really that horrible (which I believe it could be) there are resources out there to get you out of the situation. Use them.

If you just can't handle being at home anymore, be creative and find a way to make it through. Instead of planning ways to runaway...plan ways to cope for a few more years (I don't know how old you are so no idea how long we're talking about here). Get a job. Play sports. Volunteer. Keep yourself out of the house as much as possible. Do your best to fly under your parent's radar (if that's possible).

Life is hard enough to get through without every advantage you can beg, borrow or steal. Running away will put you an a VERY narrow path in life.

OK I think you should start with the why you want to run away portion first. Then we'll all be in a better position to offer advice. Also how old are you? I can't imagine the streets being very safe for anyone. The younger you are the more of a target you'll be.

You're doing some planning which is good, but I think taking some time to earn some cash and get to a point where you'll be able to afford an apartment would be a good place to start. Nothing wrong with getting out on your own, but you want to set yourself up to succeed first.

ZEEK! *hug*

LF: MsB, Rugbug, Zeek, and JQ said it better than I could've: Running away from home/moving out before you're able to support yourself puts a person at a HUGE disadvantage.

Other suggestions -- since you're still in school, do you have a friend whose parents that you get along really well with (and your parents trust)? Could you stay there for most of the time in the afternoon/evening? A youth group/activity center that is teen-friendly and safe? (I'm guessing that the problem is general friction with parents.)

I'd also suggest talking to an adult you trust -- teacher, counselor, youth group leader, relative, friend's parent...someone who can provide some insight and other assistance.

------
Lighter notes:
JQ -- I don't know where you live, but I know that there are no scorpions in my bathroom...so the comment about the scorpion made no sense to me at all.

MsB: Friday is my last day there (I have a flight later in the evening) so if we can finagle the time to get together. *finger crossed*

FMF: As much as we don't see eye-to-eye, you're getting to meet what sounds like a truly great man. You're smart, you're gorgeous, you'll charm the socks/pants/clothing of your choice off of him...

*deep calming breaths* got to remember that the kids are in "spring break" mode...
