do you think fox realizes they made a mistake with firefly. i'm a newbie and have never felt this way about t v show.to me if they reran the series as joss intended it starting with 2 hour pilot marketed and put it in a good slot it would take off. the quality is there, or is it just cheaper to keep putting out the crap there doing now. your mama don't dance give me a gorram break. anyway i'm amazed the fan support out here you would think hollywood types would take notice

can't tell me what to do boy, not part of your crew.

I don't think it is a matter of FOX realizing they made a mistake. The people of FOX are not going to admit it. No one wants to admit they made a mistake. They just make money off all the DVD's we buy. That makes them happy. I suspect they get a share of anything the movie makes as well.

You can not get the cast back together now. They all have other programs or projects that they are commited to. If you were Adam would you leave "Chuck"? Hardly.

I wish you were right. I would give anything for the show to return. But I hear a lot of ifs in this plan.

Welcome and remember there is a good possibility of another movie. "Serenity The Wrath of Jayne" could be right around the corner. So tap your heals together and repeat, "There's no place like Serenity. There's no place like Serenity". I do it.

hello 988! Yes, I believe that Firefly was much more expensive to produce than the crap (reality shows, etc.) that networks are foisting on us today. I, too, feel your pain in the loss of that marvelous vision. Welcome to the place on the 'net to find like minded folk, we're glad to have another voice calling for "more, more MORE!"

Nothing wrong with delusions. Would perfer Adam in Firefly. Jayne was an excellent character. I wanted to see where Joss was going to take him.

In Done The Impossible, it was mentioned that each episode cost $1 million to make, and the broadcast advetisers were paying $2.5 Million per episode, so they were making 1.5 Mil more per episode.
Apparently Sandy Grushaw was the culprit in his continued efforts to kill Firefly. Apparently he was fired or was hired away to work for ABC. I don't think he ever caught on, he's apparently permanently clueless.
Gail Berman, I suspect she is aware - she championed Firefly from it's formation, but she apparently didn't have enough time in the job to throw around her weight/power. Reportedly, she was a prior producer for Joss, but they have not spoken since FF cancellation.
If they did currently realize, they could have resurrected the show - it was a known quantity, and has more fans now than before.
But, despite DVD sales of FF, Serenity box Office totals have not impressed Hollywood. Neither Universal nor Fox. Otherwise Universal would have another Serenity slated for production.

Agreed, but I wonder why there aren't even any TV or direct-to-DVD movies.
Maybe they just consider the whole FF-franchise to have gone completely FUBAR and don't bother with it anymore, or don't dare touch it.

I disagree with whoever said you can't get the cast back. At this point most people feel movies, either way(movie house or DVD) ARE possible. Just because Adam is in "Chuck" does not mean he couldn't do a movie when on hiatus(sp). MANY times the cast has said "they would come back", Nathan's jobs is leaving, and I think "Chuck" will wear out, Jewel's part on SG1-Atlantis is small, and most of us don't think T:SCC will last too long. So, I don't see a problem.....

Please come over to the UNI board, the ADMIN is reporting to UNI on a weekly basis, we need numbers!!! Thank You:)

Bite your tongue about CHUCK. It's the ONLY show besides Heroes I watch now. It will go on forever (and remember we're talking abot Adam's career, how about a little gorram support.)

If a new movie or direct to DVD happens, it happens. But after 6 years I've gotten tired of fighting.

I dont think Fox cares. Look at how popular Buffy and Angel was? They didnt care about how HUGE that following was. They killed it so they could move something new and Sh***y in. Joss finds newer and better ways to get screwed.

Fox won't pick it back up, but I am awfully surprised that sci-fi hasn't. It has a dedicated group of fans and if they showed it in regular weekly rotation it would undoubtedly get better numbers than the crap factory movies that they show, which have to cost more than an episode of Firefly.

As an aside if Starship Troopers got a second movie why the hell wouldn't Serenity?

When there are no heroes where will we turn?

Starship Troopers worldwide gross: $121,214,377
Serenity worldwide gross: $38,869,464

Does that answer your question?
