Manual mornin' stats VOMP!

(Carmine midget nom!)

Yesterday's daily vote totals remained low, in another repeat of Saturday's "stock market plunge," with depressed totals pretty much across the board, again, most substantially impacting normally high-scoring shows. Just keep in mind that the weekend's drop should be considered anomalous, and, not indicative of long-term trends, and, we can hope for better things, tomorrow.

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://www.richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble getting into the site in heavy traffic you can try an alternate address instead. I recommend bookmarking them all, for rapid transition, if you have trouble voting.

You can only nominate one show per hour, at:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/nominations.html

Voting efficiently (i.e., with minimal time between votes, over the requisite 60 minutes) is crucial to maximizing your voting power. Download FlyVote by FlyVote (a fellow Browncoat voter, so, you know the program is good!). It'll remind you when it's time to vote, each hour: http://usbmicro.com/misc

Top two shows as of this morning:

(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)

Total votes Firefly: 576,981 (576,110)

Total votes Xena: 470,868 (470,179)

Yesterday, Browncoats voted 871 times (799). Bogus!

Yesterday, Xenites voted 689 times (599).

(Xenites voted 182 (200) times less than Browncoats, yesterday.

Yesterday, Browncoat votes rose by 72; Xenite votes rose by 90.

Firefly is 106,113 (105,931) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #24 show Star Trek: The Original Series 105,894. That puts us at 18,887 (19,069) votes away from a 125k vote lead, about 103.77 (95.35) days! We still need to widen our daily vote advantage, Browncoats, if we want to meaningfully increase our lead!

We'll get our next banner, for 580,000 votes, in another 3,019 (3,890) votes, and, 3.47 (4.87) days!

Our next big goal, 600,000 votes, is 23,019 (23,890) votes, and, 26.43 (29.9) days away!

6,151,205 (6,139,624) votes have been counted as of 03/03/08. Yesterday, 11,581 (10,799) votes were cast. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast in that period, we needed to vote 1,159 (1,080) times, of which we fell short by 288 votes. Our share fell to 9.3799672% (9.3834738%) of all votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly):

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 548 (485) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 329 (318) votes, yesterday, in 174.27 (369.08) days. BSG is also in pursuit of the 5th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 26,590 (27,138) votes, and, 48.52 (55.95) days, away!

#7 show Buffy got 490 (446) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 336 (330) votes, yesterday, in 132.23 (176.88) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 54,131 (54,621) votes, and, 110.47 (122.47) days, away, while Farscape is 100.5 (103.34) days from getting there, first.

Buffy's still fighting to get and stay ahead in the Hall of Fame race!

#11 show Angel got 426 (398) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to pass #10 show La Femme Nikita, which received 195 (202) votes, yesterday, in 5.25 (7.37) days. #12 show Little House on the Prairie got 326 (290) votes, and, is not currently receiving enough votes to pass Angel.

#33 show Dark Shadows got 395 (407) votes, and, is currently on track to pass #32 show, Star Trek: DS9, which received 227 (225) votes, yesterday, in 24.88 (23.89) days.

Thanks, again, for your time, and, for your support of these great shows!

P.S.: For those who are interested in Moonlight in the Nominations Poll:

#52 show (#12 in the Nominations Poll) Moonlight Total votes 17,197 (16,925)

Moonlight got 272 (250) votes, yesterday, passing The L Word 17,016. It will pass Space: 1999 tomorrow!

AND...

Surface 3039
Numb3rs 3024
The Rockford Files 2981

Two more shows passed, and, 80 Nominations votes! Not too shabby, for another really crappy day at the polls, and, past 3,000 votes!. Let's keep up the pressure, folks!

Vump - Firefly and Buffy. First nom of the day went to Red Dwarf, and the second to Surface.

We really need some more people voting. I posted a request on the Houston board a couple of months ago, but it was not very well received. By my count, there can't be many more than 200 of us voting for Firefly, by my count, and that is just silly. If we could get 2% of the people on this site voting _once_ per day, that would be around 600 votes. I am having trouble understanding why more people do not make the attempt. Granted, winning this poll may not help much in getting the show back on the air, but what can it hurt?

I realize that I am preaching to the choir, as it were. I wonder if there is some other way to encourage participation...

Yup, I hijacked your thread, RS,not that I'm sure anybody reads it... We had votes in excess of 1,500/day, back when we were behind Xena; since then, the challenge has been gone. I have done my best to present goals which would keep folks interested, but,at #1, we have no one to beat but ourselves... Which, we're pretty much doin', right now, but, not in the way I might'a hoped.

The voting members of any general fandom are always a miniscule percentage; even dedicated fanatics, like the Jericho Rangers, or, the Bood Ties fans, just can't muster more than a tiny fraction of a percent of their total fandom to vote. Those of us who do are the absolute diehards. And, I don't think we do it with any illusions about getting F*X to reconsider and make more Firefly; instead, it's a fun exercise in Fan Power, and, a valuable tool for making contact with other fandoms (like the laundry list I post beneath the Firefly stats, each day), in order to expose them to our show, and, mebbe, learn about theirs, as well.

I've recruited Browncoats from a number of fandoms through TV Vote; more have come over, either full-blown or casual, like some of the westerns fans, who have volunteered that they checked out Firefly, after watching us blow past in the Poll.

I'm hoping that this surge by Xena will help motivate some folks to get back into the voting; I miss the folks who used to vump with us!

Anyway, up on a soapbox VOMP!

(Pretentious fellow nom!)

In the Top 40, aside from Firefly, well, there's the usual laundry list: BSG, Buffy, Angel, Dark Shadows... Then, in the Nominations Poll, there's Moonlight, Surface, Red Dwarf, John Doe, and, The Pretender, at the least.

Brownies again for breakfast VOMP!

VOMP
The toothy one bites the dust

Upcoming Nom for the mysterious John Doe.

Buffy Support in full effect, until crisis is over.

Sis - I support Moonlight, John Doe, and Red Dwarf with Noms

I vote for FF (of course) Dark Shadows (for Ray) and now Buffy (they need the help badly) I used to also throw in votes for SG-1 (actually my favorite show, but don't tell the Surface fans LOL) sometimes.

Rouge - Appreciate the Surface support you are providing. We need it.

In regards to your comments, I have a couple of thoughts.

Like you, I have to wonder, where are all the Surface fans? We have over 700 people signed up at my site. But in the last year many lost hope and gave up. Still I would think if they loved the show they would be happy to put in 30 seconds once an hour while they are on their computers, if for no other reason, to prove that Nim and Surface aren't forgotten.

We are averaging maybe 80 votes a day though. so maybe 5 or 6 people are all that are participating. That's incredibly frustrating.

Especially in light of the fact that I mass emailed everyone signed up several times.

I just don't understand it. I swear Surface fans were positively ravenous a year ago. They were like Reavers determined to skin Kevin Reilly and eat his brain if he didn't bring the show back.

The thing that makes me the most curious is how is Xena doing as well as it is? The show ran it's course and ended before either of our shows, as I recall. It was an OK show, but didn't stike me as anything special, any more than any of those other types of shows running around that time.

Our shows both broke new ground.

A space Western?

A sea monster involved in a world domination plot?

I mean that's the kind of creative TV stuff all the networks should be jumping on, instead of No Deal or No Deal crap.

It's also the kind of stuff that inspires long term dedicated fans.

So, where did they go?

I liked Surface, and was disappointed when it didn't get a second season. But the chances of reviving it are pretty slim. The cast is off working elsewhere (like Prison Break). Maybe Joss could hook the Surface showrunner up with some comix people, and get a second season that way. The finale left a lot of tasty ideas blowing in the wind.
