Petition Matt Damon to negotiate a Serenity 2?

The Bourne Ultimatum won 3 Oscars on Sunday, and reports are that Universal is itching for a 4th Bourne movie, but Matt Damon isn't all that interested in it.

Now assuming Matt is a Browncoat, and knowing the crowd he came to age with, why wouldnt he be?!....

So why don't we plead with Matt Damon, to do another great Bourne movie IF Universal also bankrolls a new Serenity Movie with Joss?

Universal then gets a GUARANTEED theater blockbuster, AND a GUARANTEED DVD blockbuster....

And Matt gets the adulation of a million Firefly fans :)

Hmm... Usually it helps to be within Damon and Universal's inner circle to get anything like this done, but it would be worth a shot to petition them. Chances of succeeding are slim, but not trying at all results in zero chance. Certainly, give it a try.

Wow. I really applaud your enthusiasm but honestly this is just grasping at straws. I know some of us are getting a bit desperate though. Like you said, it all depends on how big a fan Matt is. That's just assuming he is a fan. IF he is and IF Uni is interested I can see it happening. It comes down to funding and that means interest. George Lucas could make his films because all of them since "The Empire Strikes Back" were independent films he paid for straight out of his pocket. Money and power make movies these days. Joss doesn't have as much as people seem think, he sure deserves it and has it among his peers. His peers aren't all the insanely wealthy though. Not sure how much Matt really has. The real power lies with producers and the heads of corporations. Not actors or writers or most directors, no matter how famous and talented. I'm not saying this is how it should be though, I wish it wasn't.

That said I wish you well in this endeavor and I hope you prove me wrong. If you get it going and have a petition to sign, you've got my name. Like was said above, not trying won't get anything at all.

To quote a BDH:

....but then again... We've done the impossible before, and that makes us mighty.

P.S. We're Browncoats, we are going to keep trying until we get beaten into a pulp or get what we want. We gotta use smarts and come up with the ideas most folks wouldn't think of. Or want to try.

Interesting notion...Not saying it couldn't work , but what we'd be asking is for Matt to agree to make a film he doesn't really want to make , in return for bribing Universal to make a film they *may not* want to make...

And the 'upside' for Universal is to make a film that would *likely* do well on DVD...

If this scheme could be made to work , it would look brilliant...Were it not to work , it might kill the Serenity franchise once and for all...

Still , it's unconventional and creative...I wonder how Matt feels about not being in Paramount's Trek XI ? He's said to have been favorable toward the notion of being 'the new Captain Kirk' , but wasn't called for the role...

Might be a bit of 'in your face' to Paramount if Matt Damon were to take a major guest role in the second Serenity flick...But he's probably not the sort to begrudge anyone over a perceived snub , whether it be an oversight , or purposeful...

A 'major' guest star could be a great asset to another Serenity movie...Wonder if the Serenity crew would work their roles for 'points' , a percentage of the box office take ?

In that case , an 'investor' like Matt Damon could help launch Serenity 2 , and the Crew of Serenity would get their big payday when 'the job' was done...

We DO need a 'corporate angel' to help with finances...

Matt Damon would be fine , but we also need someone like Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO) to help cover the risks...He'd stand to gain 'a lot' of coin from the box office release as an investor , and on the 'back side' , as a seller of DVD's and Serenity2 paraphernalia...
