ah ok--now, don't make fun of me, but I've been wanting to get a tattoo for a while, just couldn't find a good enough subject...I think Firefly may be it! *grin* What better way to convert people? Ok that sounds fanatical--it's just an idea :)

My question is: does anyone have/know someone who has a firefly tattoo? Does anyone know of any really nice tattoo designs on the theme? Just trying to do my research :)

No tatoos, but my girlfriend (another loyal browncoat) suggested getting silver or pewter Serenity charms for necklaces, braclets, etc. Does anyone know how difficult this would be? Maybe take one of the 3D renderings of Serenity to someone would could use it for laser sculpting or moulding.

that's a pretty great idea too--I know places like Cafepress do lots of items, but no jewelry yet--buttons and the like would be easy, but...we need an onsite metalsmith :)

I have one tattoo and have been planning to get a Firefly tattoo for awhile now. I told myself I would do it on the first anniversary of the show, or U-Day as they call it now. I didn't get a chance then, though, and stuff keeps coming up.

I admit that I waffle some on it too. The tattoo I have now is in such a remote place (center of my back) that I hardly notice it.

At first I planned to get the logo-word and the chinese characters for "little light insect" one above the other. The characters themselves come from the back of the shirt you see Adam Baldwin wearing in various pictures of late and in the DVD interviews. Then I waffled some on just the word or just the characters.

I'm still waffling. There have been other posters who've considered it and may have actually gone and done it and just not had time to post.

And a word of unsolicited advice-- don't get it for coverting folks sake. Get it because you think it's a beautiful piece of art that you want to wear on your body forever. Still, I understand the urge to just be octocool when somebody asks "What is Firefly?" Then you show 'em your tatoo and they think, "Damn!"

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

There is a jewelry store here in my city that will turn anything you can provide a picture of into a charm or pendant. I had something done up for my wife two years ago for Xmas. Never crossed my mind to take him a pic of Serenity to see what it would run for a silver or sterling silver pendant. Would be cool though.

Wow... when Tim Minear said it gets under your skin, he wasn't kidding.

I agree with Sarahetc....

Speaking as someone who has three tattoos already and has been thinking along the same lines I think your idea to get a Firefly related tattoo is a great idea but make sure it's one you can live with for the rest of your life.

I was thinking of getting the Blue Sun logo. All in blue like the one I just posted....only a little more on the smallish side.

*grins* no worries, I'd never ink myself just to convert others to Firefly--I've just looked so long for a subject I feel passionate enough about to put into my flesh. Of course religion and fantasy, history, language...I am passionate about all these things, but I guess for right now, the comraderie I feel with the Browncoats is the most powerful :)

I'd certainly wait at least a year before I did it--to make sure it wasn't a passing thing
