There should be a map so we can see who lives near us.

I would be very interested in getting together to watch firefly and celebrate it's birthday ^_^

I live in Riverside County California (wildomar to be exact, near Temecula) Anyone who lives close, let's get together and watch, bring your bowncoat.

There are yahoo groups for most every area in the US. I think you fit in with this one:

http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/SoCalBrowncoats/

You might be surprised how many events they already have happening. And I'm sure they'd be happy to find someone else that wants to hold a shindig.

The upcoming Firefly Marathon on Sci/Fi Feb 18th is the Perfect excuse for a Shindig!

Might be helpful to have a directory of some sort, assuming we don't already.

All I know is, MY method isn't working very well. (My method is watching for people in likely-looking coats, sidling up to them and muttering, "Your coat is sorta brownish-color," and then ducking when they pull out their mace.)

There WAS a map project on fff.net, but I have not seen it in over a year.

hahaha, I love your method, I should try that.

I actually have found someone kinda like that, Didn't even know the girl, she was working at a bookstore, and I think she had a starwars shirt on. I leaned over the counter and said "have you found serenity?" and she said back in a straight face, ya, it's in the next hanger...

I just discovered the less-than-threeness that is Facebook....Entered 'Firefly' in my favourite TV shows, clicked the link that came up, and discovered over 60 Browncoats within just a couple of hours of my little scrap o' nowhere. The most of 'em haven't even joined the New England crew (YET)! Give it a shot if you're so inclined.

I usually wear one of my fandom specific t-shirts (Blue Sun, Serenity, Joss Whedon is my master now, or the Serenity now Equality now) and a couple bumper stickers on the car. So far the shirt has prompted at least two spontaneous conversations while shopping.

I could stand to hear a little more.

If you have a LiveJournal, you can join Firefly comms. Every so often, someone will launch a Firefly friending meme, and if somebody sounds nice you can check out his or her User Info, which doesn't have to say where people live but often does. And once you're in an LJ Comm, you can post, "Hey, who lives in [area] and wants to get together?"

Yes they does! If you enter 'Firefly' in your TV Shows, go to your profile and click on the 'Firefly' link that comes up, ye shall have thy Browncoats nigh. Or better yet, you can look up the New England Browncoats group on Facebook. Or best of all, you can hit that link to the New England Browncoats Myspace page that's in my sig, or join our 10-to-15-post-a-day Yahoo group at http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/NE_Browncoats .

Ah, when it comes to Marco Polo, browncoats do have special rules.

No, wait, not rules. What's the word? Oh yeah, needs.
