Howdy! I'm Heather Hill, and I maintain http://www.wearwithstyle.com . I sell Jayne hats. You can see what one looks like at http://www.wearwithstyle.com/hat5.html .

Normally, proceeds from the Jayne hats go to pay for my daughter's occupational and speech therapy (she's diagnosed PDD-NOS, which is on the autistic spectrum). However, the holidays have played merry hob with our schedule and she hasn't gone to as much therapy over the last couple of months. However, I still want the money to go someplace it's needed.

For this reason, I'm running a special from now until the end of the December. I may extend it until the end of January.

Right now, a $25 donation to my kid's school via educational charity Donors Choose gets you a Jayne hat. The hats are normally $36 (and may go up in 2008), so that's a good deal. Help kids AND save money? It doesn't get shinier than that!

The link to that challenge is: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=17863

IMPORTANT: the wait for a finished hat is still eight weeks long and may get longer if a lot of people take me up on this. Sorry, not much I can do about that - I choose to think of it as a positive thing, since it means there are a lot of Browncoats out there. But you'll still have the warm glow that comes from giving to keep you warm while you wait for your cunning hat.

You're welcome to e-mail me at heather at jaynehat dot com with any questions about anything. Obviously, please also e-mail me if you donate so that I can get your address and put you in line.

This is a poor school, as you'll see from the stats on the sidebar of the individual proposals on the Donors Choose site. They could use your help, and no doubt you could use a Jayne hat, so it's a win-win situation.

Remember the words of Jayne Cobb:

"We're just happy to be doing good works."

Thanks for listening! Keep flying!

UPDATE: This is going very well, thanks to all of you! We've raised $400 so far. I'm going to keep this running for a bit longer, so it's not too late to save a little cashy money and help kids at the same time!

STRANGEBIRD

I've been thinking about a Jayne hat for awhile. Might pop over and order one sometime soon. The holidays were very, very hard on my bank account but I might have a spare 25 bucks in there somewhere. It's for a good cause. Kinda fitting since as we know Jayne had no school'n at all! ... we need an official emoticon with a Jayne hat...

BUMP, hey folks. Really Good cause and a really good deal. I can't be the only Browncoat without a Jayne hat and I know there's some of you that got checks from your grandfolks.

I can't remember where I got this. No hot link, please.

BUMP-a-doodle

Heather has extended her offer into January. Keep ordering those hats. We should be able to keep Heather busy from now until next Christmas!

Speaking from personal experience, Heather's hats are top-notch. And I've never seen her without knitting needles in-hand.
This is a great cause for a very cunning hat.
