I'm not sure if you all have already seen this site, but here is the link. Also, if you don't feel like going to the site, I'll post the movie mistakes posted here. Also, I posted a 9th movie mistake I discovered on my own:

http://www.moviemistakes.com/film5195

1)Revealing: When the Operative is reviewing Mal's file, Mal's first name is initially spelled as "Malcom", in the next shot that has been corrected to "Malcolm".

2)Visible crew/equipment: In the closing scene where the Operative tells the Alliance soldiers to stand down, one of the soldiers (almost out of frame) lowers a set microphone.

3)Continuity: Watch the items on the table when Mal's giving the speech in Serenity after finding the holographic recording. There's a yellow cup, an orange object to the right of it, and a large bottle to the left. When the shot cuts to a close-up of Simon, the bottle disappears.

4)Other: When the camera changes shot to the security feed for the first time in River's bar brawl scene, you can see, on the top right, Jane and Mal sitting down with Fanty and Mingo and the Dancer preparing to block the camera's view. This is before the gang have even stepped into the bar.

5)Visible crew/equipment: In the vault scene, there's a part when the camera shifts and you can see the area outside the cylindrical vault set in the upper left of the screen.

6)Continuity: During the last fight with the Reavers, Inara is holding a blaster gun shaped like a bow and arrow in close up shots. In any shot that shows the whole crew, the blaster changes into an actual bow and arrow. The producers didn't like the bow so they actually enhanced it with CGI to make it bigger and "cooler", so those shots of the whole crew are probably shots where they forgot to add the CGI or assumed people wouldnt notice.

7)Continuity: In the very last scene when River and the Captain are flying the ship, Mal presses a button causing it to light up. In the next shot the light is off, and in the next shot it is back on again.

8)Factual error: According to Joss Whedon, people in the Firefly universe speak only English and/or Chinese (see Special Features and the movie's subtitles), and yet, the writing we see everywhere is Japanese (there's a difference between Japanese and Chinese script; it's obvious for those who know).

9)Wash died.

There are numerous posts I've seen with these scattered around, but I haven't seen I one thread, so you've started one before I got to it.

Most of the ones listed are pointed out by Joss and the cast in the commentaries. The "large bottle" is the mudder's milk bottle that Adam brought back for BDM, and he's always mesing with the continuity.

I'll repeat the one in BDM right after Serenity gets hit by EMP and is in freefall, the shot of wash in the cockpit shows a small panel by/under his right hand that swings like it's just hanging on a peg.

You know, I only really noticed that one--but it was a glaring error!!!

About #7: Serenity is precisely the kind of ship where the electrical connections are loose enough for lights to flicker on and off unpredictably.

I didn't notice them either. With that site, you can go back to the scene it describes and look carefully. About the additional mistakes, you should submit them to the site, aye?

11) Jayne didn't get injured enough.

The biggest error of all was the continuity of the story and the characters, but I'm a series as opposed to movie gal.

Out of your list, I only saw that one (because it was glaringly obvious), pero here's another one

12) Shepard Book dies with his eyes open, y Mal never closes them, but when Mal lays Shepard's head down on a rock, his eyes are closed.

When the gang is running from the Reavers in the mule in the beginning of the movie Jayne's gun transforms!
In one shot, right when Zoe is getting ready to swing the Mule around for the barnswallow... in one shot its' an MP5k, the very small one. In the next shot it's a full size MP5, and in the next shot it's back to the MP5k.

The switches moving after the EMP hit has always bugged me... I see it every time!

And regarding Inara's bow being replaced by the cgi bow. That's all well and good but when they are running into the complex you can see her carrying the case that the regular bow is in. There's no way that mechanical bow and arrow that they created would fit in that case. Unless it had some Marry Poppins powers to it.

Here's one: They still didn't manage to squeeze any Chinese people into the cast.

As much as I liked Chiwetel as the Operative, I still think Chow Yun Fat would have been awesome in that role.

I have to speak up about #8 - if people "only" speak English or Chinese, I have to wonder why there was so much Russian int he movie. "Eto kuram na smekh" is russian for ridicuous - literally "intended to make hens laugh". Also, River's dream teacher uses Russian in her lecture. I don't think Joss ever intended people to ONLY speak English Chinese, I seem to remember him saying English and Chinese are the predominant languages, not the ONLY ones.

Chow Yun Fat would have been GREAT in that role; never thought of it. Chiwetel did a great job though.

CYF would probably be way too much money anyway :/ It's not like the movie was brimming with big names.

Yeah, but Joss said in, I think the first commentary, that the studio offered to pay for a bigger name in the role, and he turned it down.

*in Korean accent*
"Tis a goo death, yeah! A maaaaan's death! OOH!"

I also noticed that while Simon speaks the safe word, the subtitles read, "*speaking Chinese*" - many subtitle errors in Firefly and Serenity.

I completely agree with you. It's the same way for the show too. The only character that was even vaguely Asian and had a speaking part didn't even have any lines in Chinese.

It says that he was a Captain but I think in the extended scene it said he was a Sergeant who was promoted to Captain with a battle field commission. I added the battle field commission part which I assume it was. My memory isn’t all it is should be though and I could be wrong.

The display in the deleted scene just shows sergeant. No mention of a promotion to captain - battlefield or otherwise - that I can see.

I haven't noticed any of those, apart from Wash dying obviously - the biggest mistake in the entire thing. But I haven't seen anybody post the only one I actually did notice. When they're escaping from the reavers on Lilac the mule crashes into a yellow awning that is standing out from the side but when it shows the reaver ship chasing them turn the corner the awning and all the other things they crash into are still there and they crashed into it pretty hard the first time!

I usually don't notice these things at all so I was really surprised that it wasn't up here - did nobody else see it? Or was it just so obvious nobody put it up?

Watch the movie again- one moment, Book dies, then right after Mal lies Book's head on the rock, and he didn't have time to do that.

I thought you'd catch that I was just kidding you !

Seriously , though , there is a continuity error

in that scene...I caught it first time I saw

the movie...There's like a piece of lint or

something on Book's face while Mal cradles

him...First it's there , then it's not , then it

is again...The hazards of editing different

takes together...

Also , there's the thing with how many times

Jayne exits the vault on Lilac...It's rarely

noticed or mentioned , but it's a similar sort

of continuity blooper...

Sorry- I'm not good at catching sarcasm or teasing. Just ask any of my real-life-friends- I drive them crazy like that. And by forgetting stuff constantly. And by not having common knowledge (How would I know what the Simpsons are? Or Charlie Brown?)

Did I have a point? I hope you caught it if I did, but I don't think I did. Just feel free to ignore me
