CBSTEVE

Just finished watching season three of BSG and have to say that Mark Sheppard's appearance in the final three shows was the icing on the cake. He was fracking awesome, as is the whole show. Love the cliffhanger ending. I guess everyone is getting ready for the Razor movie coming out in a few weeks. But I heard the series won't restart until maybe April. Too bad. I need more BSG! It was my cure for no Firefly. Now I need another cure. Stargate Atlantis just won't do it, despite having the cutest mechanic, er, doctor in the verse now. Anyone recommend a good sci/fi show to see me through the next few months? Thanks in advance.

There's not really any good scifi out there, either on cable or the big 3 networks. Of the new shows Bionic Woman just doesn't get it (despite having Mark Shepherd in the first few episodes) and Journeyman is a bit boring.

Reaper and Pushing Daisies are OK, but of course they aren't scifi at all. I haven't seen Moonlight yet.

It's not really scifi either but Chuck is a good distraction. It's got comedy, and a bit of drama plus just a little pinch of The Office.

Adam Baldwin is really good as a NSA Major Casey who IMHO is really a better educated ancestor of Jayne Cobb.

Netflix can be a godsend in times like these. We're working our way through Eureka Season 1 and Invader Zim, and have also watched Harsh Realm this way.

If you didn't watch Heroes last year, get the first season on DVD and watch it, it's fun (and a lot less frustrating if you can watch it all without waiting week by week).

BSG: Razor was..meh, ok but nothing special. One or two interesting plotlines.

You can really tell they wrote Razor AFTER Season 2 of BSG, as a lot of the story OF Pegasus we know ahead of time is really crowbarred in. There's some serious flow/logic issues.

EDIT: I'll add my vote to Heroes Season 1 on DVD. If you like campy sci-fi, the new Doctor Who is actually pretty good.

Well CBSteve you might wanna try NBCs Chuck on Monday nights. Not really Si/Fi, more like Si/Spy. It's got Adam Balbwin as Mgr. john Casey and a gang of other enjoyable characters. check it out. There are a ton of browncoats watching this show and taliking about it on the NBC forum board.

I caught Mark in BSG, but for me the finale of Season 3 was too little too late and I'd already given up on the Battlestar. The show was something great once upon a time but it got bad and its storyline had already gone way south for a long time. It became a soap opera, injected with too much political BSG like abortion and suicide bombers and the character continuity was a disaster. Tigh a CYLON listening to Bob Dylan !? I've seen fan-fiction writers come up with better plots. Scifi has started to slow down of late, the channel and the genre aren't doing so well anymore. We've still got stuff like 4400, and JMS is still doing Babylon 5. A show like Stargate Atlantis is good and entertaining but it isn't a master piece like our Firefly was, Summer Glau is a Terminator but other than that there ain't much happening.

BSG was hotly tipped to be something great but after a dozen or so episodes it lost track and turned out to be a disaster. I don't really think there is much great scifi on the box or at the cinema at the moment, like Ridley Scott said the genre is as dead as Westerns but I still like my retro genres.

Our Mark is a well established actor, you should check him out in other stuff like Invisible Man, X-files, 24, Bionic Woman, Medium and CSI. Himself and Jewel used log-on and post here on fireflyfans back in the day when Firefly was still on the box. He's busy now doing his own stuff and Jewel seems to have landed a regular gig on Stargate Atlantis.
