what type of ship is the alliance cruiser? it seems to be more of a city than a ship. in bushwacked, the alliance commander told mal's guards to station more men to protect the "nursery". is this saying they have infants aboard? would this mean that the ship is a generational ship? by this i mean a vessel that is capable of traversing large distances over many lifetimes. also, it kind of reminds me of the trek eps where they encounter the borg nursery. the alliance ship has a greenish hue reminiscent of borg vessel.

were there monkeys? terrible space monkeys?

Well, I can't answer any of your questions... all I know is that those are some cool looking ships!

Maybe it's the Alliance just trying to raise more Alliance-type people, like in Brave New World. The definition also includes plants, so the Alliance could be trying to grow plants in space. Also, it is for production and raising of things.
