There are a pair of Cons coming up early next year in Chattanooga, Tennessee, ChattaConhttp:// www.chattacon.org/Joomla/ in January and ConNooga http://www.connooga.com/index.html in late February.

I know that I will most likely be going to both, as they are fairly local for me, just a couple hours drive. Can I hope to see some fellow Browncoats there?

Hmmm, a chance to hang out with Browndcoats and drink? Naah, I think I'll count the ceiling tiles here at work instead.

You know I'll be there, driving folks around, wearin' my coat (though the rank needs a little updating), and generally causing Browncoat-y goodness.

(good thing too, because I am not sure I can count high enough to get all of the ceiling tiles)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, I will only have time and money to attend one. ChattaCon is the party con and ConNooga is the family oriented one, right? My vote is for ChattaCon.

I am guessing you mean Boone, Kentucky, right? About 220-230 miles, I believe.

OMG! You're in Boone?! You better get your butt down here to Charlotte for one of our shindigs. No way you can be in NC and not hang out with your fellow Browncoats.

BTW, you're looking at a 270 mile trip to ChattaCon -- according to Yahoo Maps, about 4-1/2 hours.

/hijack complete -- we now return you to regular programming

4½ hours ain't that bad. 2 Georgians and an Alabaman drove 4+ hours (4 for me, about 6 for them) to Charlotte for the Serenity Now screening. A trip well worth it, BTW. You really do need to go meet up with the Charlotte Browncoats. Shiny group of folk!

Yeah, 4 & 1/2 hours is not bad at all. I live in Richmond, VA so I will be flying into Atlanta and riding up to Chattanooga w/ Zeph and RIMG. Course it's more than worth it to hang with my 76th comrades and with browncoats from this board.

I actually live in Raleigh - right near crazyfire and I'll be home October 10th so the 11th I'm looking forward to a dinner with some crazy browncoats! And I totally would love to come to a shindig in Charlotte if I only had a way to get there!

ConNooga is family friendly in the sense that there will be kids programming in a separate area. This just allows parents to bring the kids in case they can't make other arrangements and still want to come.

Otherwise, this is what will be going on: Video Game tournaments sponsored by GameStop, a Room Party block set aside for Friday and Saturday night (with the "casual" costume contest built into the Saturday night parties), concerts (several bands playing), tabletop gaming demos and tournaments, live Rocky Horror Picture Show, Burlesque show, SABER IDOL, contests, film premiers, fanfilm contest, anime section and programming, horror programming and workshops, along with celebrities, artists, authors, podcasters, film crews, and loads of fan groups (including the SouthEastern Browncoats).

Anyway, we hope to see you there as we've built ConNooga from the ground based on what the fans want. We're hoping to have the party element there (as we want people to have a good time), but we're also wanting to have things to do that you'll (hopefully) enjoy as well.

For those that went to Dragon*Con, you may have seen our booth right outside the Walk of Fame. We've had nothing but positive feedback. Check out the site when you get time: [url] http://www.connooga.com.

I hate that this ended up being a commercial, but I was actually responding to the "Browncoats in Dalton, GA" thread when I ran across this one. Take care!

Welcome to the board Vesper2112 and thanks for the input on ConNooga. Good to get the scoop from someone with the know.

Seems some members of the 76th might just be making it up to Chattanooga for this one too.

Yes, especially since it's around Zeph's birthday and all.

Also, if you want the Con rate of $81/night, call the hotel at 1.800.TRACK29 and mention that you want the ChattaCon rate. Reservations must be made by Dec. 31st for this rate.

If you are going to ConNooga, you have until December 10th to register and pay only $30. After that, it's $35. There is information and also the forms for registration here:
http://www.connooga.com/page3.html

Also, if you want the Con rate of $85/night, call the hotel at 1.800.TRACK29 and mention that you want the ConNooga rate.

There are several members of the 76th going to ChattaCon (hosting a room party, even!), and a couple going to ConNooga. Personally, I am looking more forward to ConNooga, as it is for the fans, by the fans.

Let us know if you are planning on going to either, we can all meet up and have some drinks or something.
