Thanks for the mention. I've got a bit more to say on the subject of Firefly/Serenity, but not much time yet to collate everything into a semi-instructive thing to write. Glad you all enjoyed it! And I was wondering where all the hits came from!

You're welcome, Pastor Oakley!
I suspect most of those hits came from SF Signal.

Two problems with your entry, though:

It's spelled "Inara", and "concubine" does NOT imply freedom of choice. I would probably have worded it as "A 'Companion' (educated courtesan)", although that still doesn't cover the range of stuff she does. She's also a therapist, after all. ;)

ETA: In fact, a concubine is sex SLAVE, whereas Inara gets paid for her work, and can choose her own clients - between that and her education on everything from archery and fencing to Chinese calligraphy, music, etc., one could argue she's most like an oiran, the higher-class, extremely cultured and educated predecessor profession to the still-extant geisha profession (in fact, last I checked, the Wikipedia article on "Companion (Firefly)" compared them directly to oiran).

Though whether or not she's happy and fulfilled with this line of work - or at least the sexual aspects of it - is a matter of debate, of course.

Oh, and Companion is meant to be capitalized too, though putting it in quotes is enough to distinguish it being different from the usual use of the word.
