Good Question.

I want to know more about this 'September' deadline thingy. I'm thinking this talk about the September as the deadline for some contract issue pushed sales a little higher.

I know just about every Best Buy in my area sold out. I had a wonderful Seattle Browncoat pick up one for me in North Seattle.

Looks like it dropped out of the top 30.

Alas, so it did, and one cause would be inadequate inventory. I wonder what Universal is thinking?

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Hard to keep selling when there is no merchandise.
I know locally all my stores are out. I, of course, helped cause this by buying multiple copies.

The CE didn't make the top 30 this week but Firefly did.

That's odd, they have it down as a new release. It's been out for years.

It's amazing. Another 1.14 mil in sales last week alone.

Well, assumming those numbers are accurate....

The Firefly DVD has been on sale for over 200 weeks. In the week ending Sept 9 (shown on this chart) Amazon ran a special on Firefly, that got it up to number 1 on that day. Otherwise, it was in the top 100. For those 200 weeks, it's been at least in the top 100, and often in the top 20 or top 10. Fox makes a profit of about $7 per Firefly DVD. If last week Firefly sales are the average for the last 200 weeks, that means over 8 million sold, making $56 million for Fox. I wonder if Joss gets any of that, as producer? If he doesn't, that would be another reason for him to hate Fox...

The thought of F*x making money from us. I don't think I'll sleep well tonight.

I don't believe he does. The royalty issue came up in an interview last year.

Latest week of DVD sales at
http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/weekly/thisweek.php
does not show Serenity CE, or, as it did last week, Firefly. What it does show is that subsequent weeks tend to have a 50% or higher drop in sales. You need at least 30,000 units sold in a week to be on this chart,so that would indicate that Serenity CE sales so far are about 60,000. Given that they were out of stock very quickly, makes you wonder how many were initially pressed.
