It's got vampires and also stars Clare Kramer (Glory from BUFFY), Serena Scott Thomas (Rogue Watcher Gwendolyn Post from BUFFY), and Tom Lenk (Andrew Wells from BUFFY and ANGEL).

I just bought it for about $10 but haven't watched it yet.

Joss Whedon: Well, there may be some female empowerment in it at some point. [Laughs.] I don't know who put that there. It's the same brew that I tend to brew, which is a combination of horror, and heroes, and people crying, and female empowerment. It's the thing that's made my career..."

I watched the movie last night. It was...different. Too much blood and gore for my taste, and I actually like horror movies. I thought the story was an interesting idea ('Requiem for a Dream' meets 'Near Dark' according to the packaging) but in the end it felt more like a poor excuse for gore and nudity.

Because I wanted to know if there was a reason behind all the Jossverse casting, I listened to the commentary. I think it was the director of the movie that admitted to being a Joss fan--he even listed Joss in the Special Thanks at the end of the movie. He said Clare Kramer had really gotten into the role and that he had liked her work on BUFFY, it was also mentioned in the commentary about Serena Scott Thomas's role as an evil watcher on BUFFY, and Tom Lenk (who was dressed not unlike the Pee Pee demon from ANGEL Season 5) also being from BUFFY. Adam Baldwin played a vampire that was apparently written with him in mind. The director mentioned something about Adam saying the role was basically Jayne as a vampire.

Also in the movie was the guy who played the talent agent in the ANGEL pilot episode, the one who thought Angel was an actor...which was also mentioned by the director of 'The Thirst'.

I’ve have yet to see past season one of Buffy, so I didn’t recognize any of the alums.

Anyways, I watched Thirst about 2 months ago. I’ve never laughed so hard during a movie I’m not sure I should be laughing at. Please tell me it was a spoof. It was so bad it was good!

What we need's a diversion. I say Zoe gets nekkid.

Wish I could tell you...don't think it was spoof though. Especially since Clare Kramer supposedly took the role so seriously. Would a person do that for a spoof? Don't know.

FYI (If you're interested): Serena Scott Thomas will be the first one you'll see in BUFFY, assuming you're going in the proper order. She appears in one episode of Season 3. Tom Lenk (the slave) will show up in one ep. of Season 5, but will return as another, much more memorable one in Season 6. Clare Kramer, who played Lisa, will show up in Season 5. The guy who played the doctor in the movie was in the pilot of ANGEL. Adam Baldwin also appeared in the last several eps. of ANGEL.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly...and I've actually seen it! It was both odd and oddly fitting at the same time---don't ask me to explain please, because I really can't.
