Sorry for my ignorance in this matter you guys but I just wanted to check something out.

Does it actually say "WIDESCREEN" on the box of the collector's edition? If so, where is it printed?

I bought mine at Walmart the day they came out and it does not say widescreen on the front of the box, but it does say it's presented in "anamorphic widescreen" on the back of the box.

I know as a diehard movie fan I should know the difference by now but I don't. Can you guys help me out here?

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

It doesn't say widescreen on the box, I don't think, but neither does Firefly. The vision of the show and movie are widescreen, so they are both widescreen, they just are. I don't think there's fullscreen available of any versions of the show or movie.

Actually there is a full screen version of Serenity, PR.

DRPAIN - the link you posted there is just of the standard copy of serenity.

I'm asking about the new collectors edition that was released this wednesday... the one in the black and silver box.

He was just pointing out that I was incorrect thinking the movie never came in fullscreen. Why anyone would want fullscreen I don't know, but there you are.
My old version of Serenity that says "widescreen' on the front says 'anamorphic widescreen' on the back. There is no difference, one just includes a fancy word.
But as I said, I think that since the vision is widescreen, the Collector's Edition is widescreen, just across the board. I could be wrong about that, too, but I can't see Joss having it any other way.

Anamorphic widescreen is widescreen. Pan and scan now gets sold as Full Frame. Judging by Amazon there is only the widescreen for the collectors edition. To be doubly sure you could look on the back of the box for aspect ratio. Pan and scan will read either 4:3 or 1.33:1 Widescreen is 2.35:1.

Hey thanks guys!!!

I was getting worried there for a second but daveshayne... thanks for the ratio numbers... If I remember mine is 2.35:1 - I'll have to look when I get home but I'm pretty sure.

Thanks again!

My DVD will play the BDS in fullscreen if I set it for pan scan (not that I EVER do!)
