Just picked up the Serenity Collector's Edition at Wal-Mart at lunch. No big Box. Wasn't even in the end-cap of new releases. In alpha order, amoung the aisle of new releases.

But there was a nice little empty spot on the end-cap with no tag on front to indicate what DVD should go there.

So when I left the store, 4 SCEs were in that formerly empty spot and 4 were in the original spot.

There is no tin, unless someone has some sort of exclusive. The R4 Australian edition had a tin edition.

Anyway, here in the Portland of Oregon, the Fred Meyer on Hawthorne didn't have it under new releases, they just had two copies under "S".

Best Buy here in SoCal has 30 copies with the exclusive 'Those Left Behind' Pt I comic attached. Woohoo!!

My only complaint is that all 30 copies of SERENITY CE were buried in alpha order with the rest of the sci-fi dvds. No end cap... no prominent display... The sales associates didn't even know they had them!

Heck, to top that off, LOST Seasons 1 & 2 were on the New Release rack at the store entrance alongside UGLY BETTY Season 1!! They're not new!! Oy Vey...

Spread the word across the Cortex, BCs. Let's make sure they still fly off the shelves!

Best Buy in western Mass had about twenty copies split between New Release and Sci-Fi. Looks like they sold some from New Release; that was just after noon.
Tin would have been so shiny...maybe I'll convert my Dune tin case to a Serenity one...

Maybe not Chrisisall

Rassa Frassin' Canadian commerce!!

Best Buy did have the Serenity CE up front in the new release section right as you walk in the store BUT.... no comic, and the sales people knew nothing about it AND couldn't find it on the computer.

Had I not been blind... I would've seen it right away.

Edit: Not an exclusive offer in Canada. Well at least when Heroes comes out on DVD, Best Buy Canada has an exclusive comic with it...

Whoo-hoo! I got the comic book. It comes packed with the Serenity Collector's Edition DVD. Psst, the SCEs are back in the Sci Fi section not the front where the DVD releases are. Although, now there are two of them in the front section in that one store.

Resisted the urge to buy more than one with a comic book.

No sign of Serenity CE at Circuit City, Target, Kmart.

FYE had the one I pre-ordered to the store.

The comic book is Those Left Behind part 1
Shiny size comic book.

I couldn't even find it on thier website.

At the Best Buy I went to they were up front with all the new releases and had a little sign announcing the price and the comic.

They were on the bottom shelf, 'till I came, then some of them magically found thier way on to the top shelf.

Walmart had none. (Looked in various places. No Firefly or regular Serenity either.)
Circuit City had none. (The guy said they didn't get a LOT of things in their shipment this wk.)
FYE had ONE, which became mine.

Just picked up mine at Best Buy in West Boca, Florida. They not only had a lot of shiny new original Serenity release copies on the shelf in the normal alphabetic order location (in sci-fi section) but had the new CE version in the "Best Sellers" section ! But then, I know this store has some browncoats working there. I was in it a week ago while wearing a BLUE SUN tea-shirt and an employee saw it and felt compelled to stop me and comment on it with a big grin on his face.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Best Buy in Waco, Texas had about ten on the shelf when I got mine at 2pm, but not on the front side of the New Release rack. It was on the back side in alphabetical order with everything else. All of the ones I saw had the comic.

I drove over to Best Buy and got mine:
I love the box, the comic is cute, and the extras are fun.
The cast commentary is huge fun!

I'm very happy w/this, and thankful to whoever it was who ran off w/my Serenity DVD last Christmas.

I did order one from Universal which hasn't arrived yet, but I'm sure that that will make a nice Christmas gift for someone this year....

Down here in Beaumont,Tx looked at Target no Special Edition. Drove over to Wal-Mart, no Special Edition. I began thinking that maybe the shipments down to south Texas may have been delayed because of the uncertain arrival of hurricane Dean. Drove an extra 20 miles to Best Buy and found it there. Not on the end-cap but it was in the new releases. There were 5 or 6 copies (plus mini comic), minus two with my departure. Wore my Serenity t-shirt, didn’t get any high-fives or recognition as a browncoat although the folks were friendly just the same.

Picked mine up from Best Buy in Denver today around 3:00PM. No end cap display and it was on the bottom shelf in alpha order for new releases. It was back with other DVD's the front display was reserved ... are you ready ... for Wild Hogs.

Depressing bit: Had to find sales help to find the DVD, he had no idea what I was talking about.

Happy bit: Cast commentary, fun stuff!

The Best Buys in Eastern WA are SOLD OUT!!

I stopped by my local Best Buy store and the were out earlier today.

They had about 30 to sell today. And yes the sales person checked for me and she knew what I was talking about.

And they had a nice row of them in the middle shelf, on the back wall with all the New Releases. The nice big yellow tag was still there.

So I went home and order it online so I can at least get the sale price.

I will let you know when the CE ships out from Best Buy. I am sad I don't have one tonight....but I am happy that they are selling well.

Got mine at Best Buy after work. I walked right past the new releases expecting the CE to be mixed in with regular sci-fi. Imagine my surprise when I only saw the original BDM, a lot of them I might add. Wandered around aimlessly for about five minutes until I found my way to the front of the store where the new releases were displayed. Low and behold four copies of the CE on two seperate shelves.

I'm not normally one to gush but the packaging for this release is now amongst my favorites of any DVDs I have ever owned. The fold open window cover is damn original, at least I've never seen it before. The artwork is obviously a huge step up from the original release. Really enjoyed the cast commentary but someone should have told Summer to pipe down. That girl is a regular chatterbox, I swear Nathan and Joss couldn't get a word in edge wise.

The comic ain't a big deal, it's just a reprint of "Those Left Behind" issue #1. I was hoping it was a sneak peek of the upcoming comic series...

And no, you can't have mine! It's already sealed in a plastic bag and stored with the other issues in the fireproof/waterproof safe...

Anyone else drooling over the Quantum Mechanix insert? I definitely will be ordering their blueprint reference pack...

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Best Buy here in Richmond had 30 copies. 12 of them were on the second shelf of an end cap. The rest were in the sci fi section under "S". I bought five copies out of the section to leave the endcap full. They had the comic give away with them.

I picked up my copy at the Meijer in South Bend, IN yesterday morning. I got worried when I went to the new release end cap in the DVD section and no Serenity CE! However, the sales person knew exactly where they were - in another "new release" box near the front of the store. It seemed like there were only about 5-6 on the shelf, not sure if mine was the first purchase. I had not heard about the comic book option.

FIREFLYPASSENGER

I went to a Frys for another reason and looked for Serenity CE. no where to be seen. I had to ask I guy he looked it up. It wasn't even listed as a new release among the new releases. It was in the aisle under "S" 2 CE and then the original, no comic of course. I fixed the arrangement so it would at least show the cover out instead of just the side.

Then I went to Best Buy in So Cal. Now I already sent my Dad earlier that morning to buy 2, one was for a co-worker, I really wanted the comic. I still wanted to go and see if it was still there and how it looked. I walked in and there was a table with DVDs on sale and Serenity CE right in the center. It was waiting for me. I took the last 2 copies on the table and then went in and looked among the DVDs. It was in a box, end cap I guess you call it? There were 2 spots about 4 I think. I grabbed 3 and moved them up to the front table and left one for someone to find there. Then I placed 2 back on the table for the next Browncoat and bought 3 one for each sibling. I really wanted the little comic book.

It felt like Christmas in August. Everyone was happy with their gift.

I still need to buy another one for myself as a loaner set.

Well folks, it looks like Best Buy is the best place to pick up the dvd. By all accounts it got the largest shipments of the dvds. And with the exclusive comic, Universal obviously wanted them to have extra incentive to sell them. So I would suggest concentrating on BB locations to get your CE. If we can sell out at multiple locations across the company, that would require a pretty big re-order from the largest consumer electronic retailer in the US.

While picking them up at places like Walmart is also a good idea, we should reward BB for ordering so many copies.

I checked at Wal-mart on Tuesday. The cashier told me that Serenity had been out for over a year. When I said that the CE was being released and asked if she would check the computer, she did--she showed me the screen and it said that it was only available on-line. However, one of the other employees overheard and said that he had made a space for it on the self, but they hadn't received any copies. Aarrgghh!

This is what I mean. Best Buy has them, and by all accounts has at least 20 copies per store. While I'm sure there are some here and there, I'm guessing a significant amount of them are at Best Buys. Universal can get the fastest and biggest indicator of just how well they are selling if we concentrate on one big retailer.

Spread the word, Best Buy is the place to get your Serenity CE DVD!

In fact, one of the SoCal Browncoats created a flyer you can print out and place in stores and other places to help advertise the dvd. Just print out a few, cut them up and quietly put them in the stores where it will do the most good. I don't think stores will mind us helping them make money :)

I just looked at the Best Buy advertisement and it said that for the CE version (with the comic book), that there's a minimum of 8 per store. Hope they sold a lot more than that though. Went to the Sci-Fi section , where 13 copies of

Liberated 2 sets and took 'em to refill the

What is a promo card? Nevermind saw them today. They are cards on the rack slots that says the price and the DVD name and also a card that mentions the comic book.
