I found Firefly 2 to 3 years ago. Fell in love with it and mourned that there are no Malcolm Reynolds in the world.

I rented it from Netflix and continue to do so every few months.I have it out now, watching each disc at least twice. I'm on disc 4 now and Serenity the Movie will arrive tomorrow. All the time I'm watching, I'm thinking this is too good to die. How can this continue? Anything this good can't be allowed to die!

What occurred to me had to do with pushing Serenity the Movie into the future. I detested that those 2 characters met their end. When I saw the movie, everyone in the theater walked out in silence...like we'd just attended a wake. In a way, we had.

Okay, push the movie into the future. Start making 3 eps at a time that go directly to DVD. Using all the original cast. Keep making them as long as they sell. And they will sell. It's a way to continue the series; we just happen to know how some of the characters will meet their demise.

I was feeling a bit sad as I was coming to the end of the series again, so decided to look on the internet to see if anything was happening with Firefly. Surprise! A lot is happening. I just learned the Special Edition will be out on Aug.21. My birthday is the 22, so I'm going to treat myself!

Hang in there, Folks. That beautiful old ship will fly again!

America loves a winner!

You found us. We might have been broken, but you, a wayward browncoat, put us back together again.

A thousand thank yous. A very happy birthday, and don't ever forget that you can't stop the signal.

Not ever!

It might not sound like much, but it's somethin'. May the candle on your cake shine like a Firefly across the heavens!

Welcome.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Welcome Browncoat! Happy Birthday!

And you know even if we end up with straight to DVD movies/episodes, we can still see them on the Big Darn Screen. We know how to do that.

Browncoats raised over $100,000 for charity with Serenity screenings in 2007 and over $65,000 last year. http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/

Post needs pic of the hope for more Firefly/Serenity.

Ahoy, Ojai! (Sweet music, that) You are #27749 to sign the book at the bottom of the ramp.

We are right glad to make your acquaintance and to wish you a happy birthday into the bargain.

Someone may wander in to fit you with your very own virtual Browncoat, and in the mean time I'm offering a big bowl of the ripest, most fragrant strawberries in this quadrant, and a mug of the ripest, most fragrant Mudders' Milk in the whole 'verse.

After you stow your stuff we'll see you in the galley (up those stairs over there) for coffee and ice-planets.

Please do not step on ShipsCat or into her dish.

Spread the Firefly love far and wide, and support our BDH's in their projects.

Hey, Ojai, glad you made it!

But... what in the sphincter of hell took you so long? We've been waiting and waiting for you to show up, and we almost missed our launch window...

Just kidding. It's always great to welcome Browncoats new, old, or middling.

Ojai22...welcome...so very glad you found us! I am relatively recent here myself...but now I can't spend a day away from this board. If you've a mind to help us keep Firefly as #1 TV show of all time.. join us in the 'vumping' (that's vote-bumping) every hour on the voting thread...check out the 76th Independent Army thread... several of us will be marching in the upcoming Dragon*Con parade in Atlanta, hoping to draw more attention to the love of the 'verse! You don't have to march to join up...we just love the company and input of other fans! Again welcome, welcome, welcome!

Ah, you wonderful people! You're so grand! You have cruises, you do good deeds, you're so ACTIVE!

When I saw Serenity at the theater I went home a bit depressed. I hadn't seen the Firefly series for awhile so separated the two in my mind to keep everyone alive and well. I kept renting the series from Netflix every now and again thinking the Firefly movement had surely come to a stop. I didn't realize I was stuck out on a big rock in a small valley chucking little stones at the large Alliance ships that passed by.

Recently I had some extra time so rented the series again, then decided to throw in the movie Serenity. For days I watched whenever I had the time. Watched every ep twice - Out of Gas, 3 times. Yesterday afternoon I had worked my way to Objects in Space. I love that jerk, Jubal. Last night I watched Serenity. Hadn't seen it since the theater experience.

What happened surprised me. The movie is not separate from the series. It flows like water directly from the series. Seamlessly. A continuation of the story that I was keeping separate in my mind. The pleasure of watching River in action [WOW] was tempered by the loss of the loved ones, but I can live with that. So I finally got it all together.

Didn't know I was a Browncoat. Just thought I was an Independent.

Does any of this make sense to you? :)

Thanks, I am happy to be here. I have a couple of questions. I read the JW interview and it seems like Universal is in charge of what happens to Firefly. If JW created it, doesn't he own it? But if he created it for Universal, that would be different, I suppose.

Hollywood is a strange land indeed.

I don't have the time to read everything I want right now but will get to it all eventually.

You're terrific folks and I'm glad to have found you. :)

Yes, in That Land that is Hollywood, things are strange. Often, rights to a creative property are held by somebody who put up a bunch of money, rather than the creative person who created it.

Funny note: I watched the Chinese film "Hero" the other day. Turns out that the name for China means, in Chinese, "Our Land". So, maybe Wash's dinosaurs had just founded China?

I have one other question -

Nathan Fillion's name is French, right? I keep seeing photos of him wearing a kilt. Anyone know why?

Thanks.....:)

Nathan's a big fan of Utilikilts. And why not?! He's got the legs to pull it off.
My husband went out and got one and he looks smokin' in it.

LOL!

DonCoat, you conjure up some strange images...lol

I remember the first time I tried to hang up a pair of men's pants. Just couldn't get them to fold properly because they were sewed in a crooked manner. Understanding the situation gave me one thought that I carry to this day - Men are not anatomically made to wear pants, why don't they wear dresses instead of women? Or the same as women...

Looks like NF worked it out for himself.

Thanks for the laugh. :)

Whoa Howdy , D-C ! That's one of my favorite films...I got a chuckle out of that , myself !

Perhaps not coincidentally , the Inuit province of Canada , Nunavut , also means
"our land" .

More oddly , Polska , the Polish native's name for Poland , means "the field" . Whoa , big field !
