Ouch. Painful backs are the worst.

For a little, and I stress a little, immediate relief: heat and ibuprofen. Massage is helpful too.

To avoid recurrence: All those craptastic exercises to strengthen core. Dead bugs is one in particular.

My "cure" for spasms after working/playing: Have a drink or three, lay on yer belly and enjoy a movie/music. Something where you do no work. Reading doesn't work 'cause ya gotta hold the book and flip pages. As for the misplaced vertebrae... only way I could do it myself was to sit on the floor and twist gently in numerous directions 'til it pops.

I sent MisterG for heat wrap and I had a few drinks and relaxed last night, but all the unpacking and laundry and garden stuff seem to have done it a bad turn. HUGS and thanks for the advice..

Rugbug - yeah this is only the second time this has ever happened. The first time was 8 years ago...so I'm not so much worried about reoccurance, just getting this to stop now...I shall try the heat and painkillers and see if that will do it.

Edit- ok that's it for me folks I'm off to put on a heat wrap, take some pain killers, and hope this is all done by morning. HUGS and it's good to be home:)

Your back is hurt and you're doing gardening work!? You sound like you have the work ethic of my mom. The garden should not take precedence over your own health. Take a break until you're better.

msg: don't mess around with your back. Let it heal or you could be facing some long lasting crap. Crap that makes life not as much fun. No gardening for awhile. Don't be lifting things...like those cute nieces and nephew, etc. Trust me on this one. :)

Yippee! People.

Stuff = good. Predictable but good. Work. Gym. Ride. Find time to eat and bathe, so it can't be too bad. Would like to sleep more. I do love to sleep.

I'm sort of doing this six degrees type thing with movies right now. I'll be watching one and then think of another because of some small connection. Then I watch the next...which has some small connection to another...and so on. I think I may be at a dead end right now, though as the next thing I want to watch is a DVD of a tap show. I'm going to have to be really creative to connect it with something else.

How is stuff in Zeek- and NVG- lands?

Hey Rugbug - "Predictable but good" is sometimes the best thing. "unpredictable and bad" is rather stressful. Good to hear from you!

I kinda sorta do stuff like that. Like last week I watched a scrubs episode where they were like "that's the speech from when harry met sally". So, this weekend I watched when harry met sally to see if it really was. It was like 3 lines from the speech...I don't think that counts. Do women really have that speech memorized so they know it the second they hear parts of it?

Light on the drama, heavy on the decision making. Chased a big nasty male cat around the yard last night and got a few shots off before he disappeared. Coulda hammered him about twenty times in the head when I first found him but I didn't wanna kill him. Just wanted to scare him away and possibly give him some color.

DELETED: A long posty question that ran on and on and pretty much annoyed me.

Um zeek...which speech from WHMS?

I don't know stuff verbatim, but you can hear a movie in some lines. Or even the delivery of some words. Had one movie make me watch another because of an Australian saying 'familiar.'

Oh...and Scrubs is the best ever. Well, one of the best. :D

NVG: No fair with the deleting. Now I'm all curious....

Morning all...back is improving. I begged off work for one more day and am spending it resting so hopefully that'll do the trick:)

It wasn't serious gardening, but I'd been gone for 9 days so it absolutely had to be done or I would have lost all my plants.

HUGS so how is everyone this morning.

NV- glad you didn't kill the kitty:) Not that you would:)

Mornin' MSG. Glad to hear ya feels better.

Ya see 'Bug it had to do woth the "Competing for affection" conversation we touched on a while back. Maybe even a little of competition for attention, but things seem fine. I was reflecting on a conversation from early this morning and have a strange sense of peace in being able to talk over such things with Mindy. It feels more and more like a partnership. Kinda figured last night that we couldn't really "date" in the traditional manner. But after realizing the multitude of things we can do with any combination of kids/family and with each other is incredible. Just wondering about the things we can do with each other when we both need a break from kids and family.

ah, that part. Isn't that how Whathisname proposed to Elliot or something like that?

It's pretty much what every woman wants to hear, IMO. I love you, not despite your freakish ways, but because of them. Makes us feel safe and truly accepted.

msg...'cause I like you...let the plants die or make misterg water them. Seriously. Do not F@#$ with your back. It goes bad and life gets miserable. I have a friend who is just finally allowed to go on walks...after over a year of doing nothing because she hurt her back playing soccer...just an easy little tweak that has turned nasty. You feel like a complete tool for not doing stuff that should be simple or needs to be done. But back health is worth it.

And now off my soapbox.

Hrmmm...I want to start taking tap dancing lessons again. I suck, but it's fun. (yes this is inspired by the random movie watching.)

Kudos on the skinny dippin' idea MSG. Wishin' I woulda come up with it sooner.

Away moment mishap: Last week we drove out in the desert to "talk". Ended up with the biggest mosquito bites I ever had (Some in questionable places) and I have been around mosquitos my whole life.

On the Potter subject, meh. I'll watch the movies and happen to have a horrible memory. Helps to keep movies fresh so too much spoilerage usually isn't much of a problem. Just kinda wierd bein' here and catching small bits of the story. Kinda like listening to a bincha crazy folk in mid conversation. It is quite entertaining actually.

You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I’m asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten, they’ll swing back to the belief that they can make people… better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave.

No, child, you’re sweet. Like really good chocolate, there might be a hard and sharp edge, but finish is sweet and soft. Here’s to later and not sooner on the Ironside Ride. Different days, different outlooks. After forty everything starts turning to shit anyway, so that’s not a bad goal. Thirty’s too close to think about for you. Let’s find the non-hack doctor first. Time enough for pondering later. So for your insurance to pay for any of the Mayo trip ya need a referral, is that the trip they’re giving you? Or is it Mayo that say is trying to stem the “Jesus heal me” flood they would otherwise get? Either way it would suck. *Rethinks not watching “Sicko” Moore can’t be right…*

MAVOURNEEN

Evening, everyone!

I have a few moments to myself, so I thought I'd pop in and say Hello to the Cooler. (I saw that the Bar was dripping with Potterism, so I am avoiding it.)

The guys in IT have yet to get me on the network, so I have no computer. Today was Day 2, and I didn't run screaming from there. My new boss is decent, and I think we'll get along. My office is huge, and it is painfully apparent my boss has not had an assistant for several months. The space is a mess. Files, blueprints, proposals everywhere. I'm slowly but surely fixing the files, filing, cleaning, and getting things back into shape.

I have to side with MsG's fried egg sandwich as comfort food. Delicious stuff right there.

*hugs* to you all. I miss the daily connection with my friends.

RIVERISMYGODDESS

mornin' Imponderables.

On the subject of bad backs, Ami's is still giving her fits. She has been confined to a wheelchair/bed rest since the 7th, and will be until she has the baby (another month from now). 6 weeks after the birth is the earliest that she would be able to have surgery to have it fixed, whatever it wrong with it (cannot be determined until she has an MRI, which she cannot do pregnant). Hers has been bad all her life, though hopefully we'll be able to get it taken care of. I agree with RugBug, and have seen from first-hand (ok, second-hand) experience that your back is nothing to f*ck around with.

Just another idea to keep you awake...

Woohoo...a Mavs sighting. Glad to hear that the job is going okay so far. It's always better to have tons to do in the first few weeks than not enough. Trying to look busy in a new office is NOT easy.

Eesh...jimi. Poor Ami must be miserable. Pregnancy just makes your back ache anyway (or so I hear)...and then to have a bad one already. I'll cross my fingers that once she has the baby the back pain will clear up.

msg...how's the back feel today?

Hello to anyone else out there lurking about. ;)

She has a slipped disc, possibly a herniated disc, in her back. We just have to wait for the baby to be born to do anything about it. :-\

I am headed home, I will talk to you guys later on. :)

Bye Jimi hon...hope it works out ok:)

Rugbug- quiet a bit better. Sore, but seems ok for the most part. I'm thinking I'll stick to swimming for the next week at the gym and not run for a week:) How is everything with you? Any further developments ( cute pun huh?) with Photo Boy?

What you just assume there are people lurking? You know what happens when you assume right?

Heh. Cute. Nothing to report. I haven't seen or heard from him since May. Doesn't surprise me at all. I'm just doing my thing...brushing up on my flirting skills which are sub-par. Sometimes I get it right, though. There was a VERY cute contractor at the barn last night. Let's just say it was a fun night...for the most part. (Horse took off with me partly because of work the contractor was doing).

Zeek, does that make us both asses? Or are neither of us asses because my assumption was correct? I know I'm often an ass, even without making assumptions.

Nah, nowadays consumptive just means hollywood version, you just get to be pale and interesting in a stylish sort of way, if it's the messy reality you have to say TB, to avoid confusion xD

They may think their sins are original, but for the most part they are petty and repetitive.

Disgustingly hungover, since you're asking xD but I think I'll be okay, stomach seems to be accepting the reheated chili I threw at it.

Glad to hear your back is improving though ^^
