MsG and Mavs: *squee!* I can't wait until you reach the end of "For a Few Demons More" -- I needs me someone to gossip/grumble/moan about the various plot twists and issues. (Yes, I've inhaled the series already...)

CMH (if you read this): I'm sorry to hear you're choosing to drop out. Although we've never seen eye-to-eye, I can sympathize with you about the fustration with being seen as a "type." It doesn't help that the written word doesn't show all of the visual and verbal cues that we'd have if we were talking. Take care of yourself, whatever you choose to do.

wedding rings: *shrug* To me, the meaning/feelings attached to the ring matter. I know women who don't wear their wedding or engagement rings, because their comfortable without it. I know of some who wear the rings. (Side note though: GEESH! Those rings all the married browncoat women wear are incredible!! *drool*)

ETA: EMMA!! How is teaching going -- better now?

ETA II: RIMG, I forgot that 0 C = 273K...for some reason my brain has 0 C = 293K. *blush*

Hi everyone! Can I be really rude by popping in without taking the time to catch up on previous conversations? I've been super busy for the last few weeks and so haven't been around much, just wanted to catch up and see how all my friends are (if they're still around and remember me?!)

Attempted geekism counts. Almost more really, because who but a real geek at heart would want to be a geek?

Missed you, darlin'. I take it that the children of the Islands have learnt all they can for a year and are now celebrating Aestivus until autumn?

Morning, everyone! (and Afternoon, Hobbleit!)

Oooh Neko. You've read Kim Harrison??? Try and check in from time to time! I'd love to have someone else to discuss it with! Yay! I think MsG is a few books behind us, however.

Ok, I'm in a pretty decent mood. I may have gotten around a technological roadblock in my way, which really was annoying me. I should be in a worse mood; I'm not getting many nibbles on the employment front.

*Keeps chin up*

You have Laurell K Hamilton and Kim Harrison mixed up.

Laurell K - a good series ruined by the porn of it all.

Kim- a wonderful Alt world like Laurell built, but with a "normal" sexual content, and great characterization.

Hello Hobbleit...

Mav- I've just realized I skipped one. I went off the list inside a front cover which sent me to Every which way but dead before the Good the bad the undead...I thought it was referring to a lot of events that I hadn't read ( I just figured it was her way of moving the plot along) Ok so I have to go back and then ahead...on the up side I am going to the beach for a week and a bit ( starting on Friday) and I will have time to read them all ...so by Monday the 16th we can chat away:)

I figure it'll be PJ's only for the next few weeks (well, granted the heat doesn't kill me).

I hear that LKH has brought back Edward in the most recent book, so I'm hoping that will redeem the quality of the past few. As a result of the lackluster effort she's been putting in recently, Jim Butcher is officially my new favorite sci-fi/fantasy author. Then again, the Dresden books are so good, he might have done that regardless.

Sounds great- actually, I almost did the same thing. I had read about 1/4 of "Every which Way" and I said to myself "This doesn't make sense" so I looked it up on the Webz, and realized I was reading them out of order!

Did anyone here see the Rose Parade in Pasadena this past New Years? George Lucas was the parade-master-guy (I am refusing to figure out the right word today, deal with it) in honor of Star Wars' anniversary, and members of the 501st marched with him in the parade. Nothing quite like having a marching band play the Imperial March as Storm Troopers march down a Pasadena street led by Darth Vader himself. And the ecstatic cheering of the crowd warmed my geeky heart.

So I asked near the end of the last thread, but I think it got buried -- anyone here a fan of Tim Powers' novels? Anyone? Bueller?

Please don't be offended folks, but here are three of my secret evil deires:
1. Kick a midget.
2. Kiss a nun.
3. Brawl with a mess of Storm Troopers.

Of course numero uno is just mean, two is a sin, but three...
Lets just say D*C might have been a bad idea for the sheer fact it would be one brown Browncoat against the 501st. That ain't hardly fair.

I'd have to tie a hand behind my back or sumthin'.

One? There's a fair number of us itchin for a scrap that would have certainly joined in on that one (not that you'd need us to, it would just be fun).
