In Our Misses Reynolds, Saffron make's Mal dinner. Wash refers to it as "fresh bow." Does anyone know what this is, or how to make it if it is real and not something made up for the show?

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

It's not bow, it's bao. Bao is a traditional asian food; a steamed bun stuffed with meat. If you want a recipe, there are hundreds all over the 'net.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Coincidentally, I'm actually tucking into a fresh bao as I read this.

Grandmother's here from Malaysia, and she loves to cook !, though my stomach is nearly at capacity .

This one is actually stuffed with red bean paste but my other favorite is a coconut and palm sugar mix.

I wonder what the crew's favorite combination is...?

I Googled the corrected spelling, than looked at some recipes, but all I found was pork stuffed bao, and I cannot eat pork, so will experiment with chicken, beef, seafood etc. If anyone has any tips, than I am interested. Thanks

This one:

http://www.luandian.net/cook/290.html

Has two different fillings. One non-pork.

And this page:

http://www.whats4eats.com/recipes/r_ap_bao.php

Has a list of some different types of Bao. So, you can google for the recipes for the fillings that you think would be good.

Happy eating

p.s. I have yet to try these recipes so I can't really vouch for them.
