Half naked AND a hippy? Something violent needs to happen to this person.

I don't usually recomend Steyr's, but the IWS 2000 has the largest hand fired rifle calibre that I know of. And I beleive this female is in need of all 15.2mm of it.

Mav - I just figured out the perfect career for you! http://www.fightergirls.net/

It's a step in the right direction. I thoroughly approve of this career for women, especially if it keeps them out of my Army.

CK - Actually, I've seen one or two female MMA matches. I was actually impressed by them, particularly by a Japanese women who was fighting an opponent about 40 lbs. above her weight and won. You could tell the loser's immaturity to the concept of MMA when she said that she "just couldn't muscle out of the arm-bar". All strikers have to do these days is know enough to get out of holds and stay on their feet, and she couldn't ever bother with that.

As for females in the military, pretty much all of the above. I don't "actually" hold the opinion that women belong in the kitchen, honestly I don't give a crap what they do as long as they're not in my face about it.

However, I have seen first hand what mixed-gender military environments are like, and they are NEVER as disciplined as single gender. The double standard is actually less of an issue, as women still are not allowed in combat roles, so the age old issue of "could she carry a fallen comrade" is still moot for the most part. However, the unconventional type of war we are fighting sees that even those non-combat roles get ambushed from time to time, so it's not a total non-issue.

There's only ever been one point in my career where I was temporarily stationed in a mixed-gender environment at Ft. Jackson. I'll admit, it was "nice" to be around females, the majority of whom were very nurturing, approachable and all around good people. But it's been over half a year and I still can't stop thinking about one of them. It didn't help when word got out about my little infatuation, either. It was like being in High School... High School! I've killed no less than 8 people, and they're holding a "crush" over my head?! There was a time where I would command more respect than that, but women managed to kill that about as thoroughly as they did chivalry.

EDIT: Oh, nice to see that nobody thinks that I'm capable of a mature debate. Ya bunch of muggers!

Back in the days with I was a real toe head--hair like young cornsilk--my maternal grandma and her posse seemed really obsessed with it. As I got older and ruddied up, the denial was incredible. My red tints come from my dad's side (Oops! Did I just say that? Sorry, YY et al.) and that just couldn't be. (Of course the same denial turned my hazel eyes blue years earier. Sing about that Crystal Gayle!) Yucky hair touching! Ptui!

Well then, that wasn't bad at all...

I've been incredibly impressed with all the MMA I've seen (well, there's always a lame fight here or there, but as a sport it's quite impressive), so I guess my main worry would be about women's MMA not comparing to men's MMA. But I'll have to keep an eye out for women's matches. There's an MMA studio a few miles from my home, and they have a woman pictured on their webpage, but I wasn't sure if they actually had women training there, much less fighting. I'm impressed by anyone who has the discipline, drive, and endurance to compete at that level, even more so that most Olympic athletes. In my next life, I want to come back as Linda Hamilton from the second Terminator movie, heh.

I can see your point about mixed-gender units, and I don't disagree. I have a female cousin a few months younger than me who decided to go into the Army after high school, and again I admire her discipline, drive, and endurance. She ended up becoming a Korean translator and so hasn't been in any combat zones. The way our country is fighting wars these days, I don't think we should turn away anyone who volunteers for service and is fit to serve. But I don't agree with the idea that there's no difference between men and women, and for us to be "fair" to everyone, we have to have mixed-gender units. Some units I don't think it matters (not that I have any experience, just from what my cousin told me about her time stationed overseas), but I think it's silly to think that there's no difference between men and women, and no reason or circumstance in which it would be better to keep men and women separate.

As far as the crush thing, I think that's a weird part of human nature. No matter what we live through, evolution has created in us hormones that make us continue to think about creating the next generation of our species. And unfortunately, sometimes that manifests as teasing adults about crushes. We're a dumb species, sometimes.

(I'm sure someone here disagrees with me on this. Hopefully I haven't opened a huuuge can of worms in asking. We can all debate maturely, right?)

JQ - I do beleive you can see the begining of something covering her lower portion at the bottom of the picture. I could be mistaken: I'm trying to avoid getting filthy eyes by looking at the picture.

I hardly even touched on the incapabilities of women in combat, and in fact that point was brought up by a seperate party. As I said before, it's mostly a moot point. However, I gave a personal observation that females were not condusive to the military enviornment, and not neccisarily through any fault of their own.

Ok, so here's another imponderable: Should people not share unbiased observations just because other people don't like them? My observation was much less "I perceive Jews to be cheap" and much more "Inner city areas with large minority populations have high crime rates". Yeah, people might not like the implications of the second, but does that mean it shouldn't be said at all? Wasn't the original purpose of these Imponderable threads to share differing opinions based on people's eclectic personal experiences?

Just let me know if I'm off base here. I'll even agree to stop posting on these threads if people are tired of getting more than one side of an issue.

Yay for violating the Mandate.

I get similar questions when I shave my head, people ask, "Did you get your hair cut?" I like to respond with something akin to "No, your ignorant f*ck, it all fell off overnight."

Morning, everyone. I'm having some serious IE issues with the main page of fff.net. It keeps detecting suspicious scripts, and chases me out. Anyone else having problems?

(I was able to get around by clicking the link in my email trash that notified me someone had responded to a post.
