Gotta run to the bank and sort out some foolishness. Every penny is sacred these days.

*Hugs* Mav. Sorry things have been so shitty recently.

I was really just stopping by to say hi. Today is the crazy day-before-the-trip, when I run around and do laundry and clean and pack, so that hubby won't have a stress fit when he gets home from work and realizes our plane takes off in less than 12 hours. Heh. He'll be much easier to deal with for the whole weekend if he can come home, decide what tshirt and what paperback he wants to bring, and then relax and play WoW the rest of the night.

Oh, and I just read that they're re-releasing "My So-Called Life" on DVD, with extras. I was so excited, I told hubby about it. He was like "...what's that?" He'd never heard of it! While I was a middle schooler completely identifying with Angela Chase, he was a college student with no TV access, playing MUDs all day! Most of the time our 8 year age difference doesn't matter all that much, but sometimes, especially with TV and music, it can be pretty funny. The other particularly funny time was when we heard a song come on the radio, and he said it reminded him of college, and I said it reminded me of the year my youngest sister was born. He'd never realized he's 18 years older than her, and 21 years older than my youngest brother, lol.

Ahhh, the coffee is kicking in. I may be able to make it through today after all.

You seriously just made my day. Seriously. I am so excited. Not only because they are going to re-release it, but because I never spend $200 to buy the original release off of e-bay. (Yes, folks that didn't know the show...that's what the sets cost if you could find one). Yippee!!!!!

I love MSCL.

I don't think so. I just couldn't fix my problem through the magic of outsourcing. When I called the bank to discuss said problem, I got connected to some chick in Bangalore, India, who while very nice and probably loves her children very much, couldn't help me worth a damn.

So I drove down to the bank, where a nice face to face discussion with a teller cleared up the problem. And he removed the late fee attached with said problem. So I was happy.

And then coming back from the bank, I heard "Sugar Magnolia" by the Grateful Dead. While I am in no way a Dead Head, it lovingly reminded me of more carefree days in college, when I shared space with many fun, stoney Dead heads. it was a simpler time, and singing along with a song I hadn't heard in years made me (for a moment) quite happy.

Long tiime no see, deepgirl! Stop being lurky. *hug*

Calvin and Hobbes is a bit of a thing in my family. Hubby bought me this one when we were dating: http://www.amazon.com/Indispensable-Calvin-Hobbes-Bill-Watterson/dp/07
51500283/ref=pd_bbs_sr_11/002-4323352-4420810?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1181854392&sr=8-11
(his nickname was "Calvin" in college -- his hair looks exactly like Calvin's if it's cut too short). My grandfather is also a huuuge fan, and when I was little my aunt embroidered several frames -- fine black embroidery floss on a white background, exactly matching the pen strokes -- for my grandfather and had it framed. I think he still has it hanging at his home.

And a couple of years ago my mom found the audio tapes one of my brothers had made for the other, when they were 6 and 4 years old respectively (they're 24 and 22 now). The younger couldn't read yet, so the older brother read all of the dialogue into a tape recorder, so that the younger one could listen to them and follow along on car trips. Unbelievable to hear my brother that young, now! Mom is holding onto them until my brother gets married and has kids of his own.

Edit: Any other Tintin fans, while we're on the topic? These three were my favorites, growing up: http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Tintin-Destination-Explorers-Complete

Hey all

Feel like I've been in exile...dratted summer school is really cutting in to my FFF time...

Back from the field trip doom...not too bad. boring tour of college ( with the least enthusiastic tour guides ever) and then a trip to a park and bridal veil falls ( which despite numerous warnings the kids tried to climb and we had several battered kids and had to haul them all down. Really think taking 120 kids on a field trip is a punishment that should be reserved for the special hell... oh well the kids had a good time and I'm not really sun burned so that's good...and now I have a nice diet coke with lime and tons of ice.
Can't find a pic, but it's a nice falls:)

PENGUIN

If you see something that looks like a star
And its shooting up out of the ground
And your head is spinning from a loud guitar
And you just cant escape from the sound
Don’t worry too much, it’ll happen to you
We were children once, playing with toys
And the thing that you’re hearing is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

The percentage you’re paying is too high priced
While you’re living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he’s made on your dreams
But today you just read that the man was shot dead
By a gun that didn’t make any noise
But it wasn’t the bullet that laid him to rest was
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If you had just a minute to breathe and they granted you one final wish
Would you ask for something like another chance?
Or something similar as this? Don’t worry too much
It’ll happen to you as sure as your sorrows are joys
And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return
Would you do the same for me as I would for you?
Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride
But spirit is something that no one destroys
And the sound that I’m hearing is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

Lol, ok Jonny, I'll admit -- I'm a nerd, I work from home, I have the TV on most days (it's soooo quiet without it!), so I've seen the commercials. I'm not sure I would have remembered her name was Erin if it hadn't been in your picture, though.

Really just the one time, when my breaks went out on the freeway just outside of Berkeley (actually, my rear axle broke completely in two; great car, that one). But my father says I have an extraordinarily high "freak-out factor". It takes a *lot* to panic me.

Quote:

I'm doing well. *Finally* got some good news at work today, at basically the last possible moment ("Planet's looming awfully large in my window" was the way the boss-man put it, I think), so that's a relief. Helping my mom plan our family trip to Disney World which I am way excited about, but the plans for which are literally giving me headaches. Planning for 11 is a lot more difficult than planning for 2! (Unless you're Roman, I guess. ) But I'm having fun with it, and Mom says it's a help. And I'm leaving before dawn tomorrow for one of the weirdest weddings I've ever been invited to. My mantra is "it'll be an adventure," but I'm looking forward to getting home on Sunday.

OR there's a commercial on TV?

Commercials which document the above mentioned exploits...

Way to make me feel old. I was 23 at the time.

Hi All. It's been awhile since I've posted. I'm hoping to have more time to check in at FFF.net now that I'm on summer vacation.

ODDSBODSKINS

I'm actually going to have to go with the 'parents hadn't met yet' thing, Huh, now I'm being bashful about being young, usually I'm too busy rubbing everyone's nose in it (Most everyone I work and socialize with is older then me, a few exceptions, but they're, you know, exceptions)

They may think their sins are original, but for the most part they are petty and repetitive.

G'morning (and other times of the day) everyone!

I got a PM from Mavourneen instructing me (yes ma'am) to let everyone know that she will be tied up at the bank, but will be back later (10-11 a.m.).

I'd be happier had her message been "hey I got a job". Still sending warm thoughts her way.
