Thanks Kain! Was wondering when a BDH would finally make it to the list.

I aim to misbehave!

Geez, DragonCon is totally worth it every year, but only if it weren't so gorram expensive. It's the registration, hotel, food, that thing can cost upwards of a grand!!! Don't even mention getting there. I'll have to scout it out, I imagine, but still, I totally want to be there.

What are you eating/where are you staying that cost that much?

I stayed in a Con hotel with 3 others and spent maybe $350 last year, being my first time there, plus another $45 a few months beforehand for the membership. Granted, I have it easy when it comes to getting there, but you can definitely do it for cheaper than that. Here's hoping you decide to come, as it's always good to have more fellow Browncoats there.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

So Summer's next on the list, right...?

Jimi, my plane tickets are costing me $300, the hotel will probably be about the same, and with food and possible expenses at the con, I might end up spending a total of a grand for the whole thing. Hoping not, but I did set that much aside for it.

Yes, but they said not to mention travel costs, that's where I was confused (I also assume you are helping Nico and Magda with hotel costs, or you guy are getting ripped off in the Hyatt).

Summer, Alan, Adam, Jewel, Morena, Nathan, Sean, Gina, Joss, Michael, Christina, Rafael, Chiwetel, bring 'em all on !!!!!

DragonCon is no more expensive than any other con. In fact if you get tickets early enough $40 for 4 days is cheaper than most. But you would have to add travel, hotel and food most any con you go to and since Atlanta is an airline hub flights are usually cheaper. And the guest list, come on, there are few cons that have that many top notch guests! Like Kain siad, you know you're going - you start saving the year before. Hotels can be found cheaper but there is NO substitute for staying at one of the con hotels! Yep, a grand is about right but again it would be the same for any con and Dragon*Con is more than worth the expense. I've been doing it for 7 years now.

I aim to misbehave!

I haven't gone before, but looking at the time when I was buying a ticket, and getting a room, and that I was going with only one other person, casual estimates went pretty high. As a person who's going out of the country soon, and will return to maybe a job and the last year of college, I can tell you, as a true broke person, how much 350 dollars is. Alot. That's how much. It might as well be a grand.

You can do Dragon Con on a budget if you have to (Con Suite is open w/ free food and drink from early a.m. to LATE p.m.), but it is a lot more enjoyable if you have some spending coin.

We try to limit costs by buying our tix at the con for the following year, making them $40 for the whole shindig like FFG mentioned. We pack our own sodas, snacks, alcohol, & supplies to avoid paying the extortionist costs of the hotel and surrounding businesses who have that captive con audience.
