Great. I'm a homicidal maniac.

Actually I'd learn more with only the criminal suspension, not the moral one. What crime would you do that you can get away with in the legal sense, but then have to live with yourself? Murder? Theft? Nothing? Would anyone feel comfortable with themselves having committed a crime?

Well that's not the part I was referring to...as I think you know.

You would learn something else with your brand of the question, but it would be boring for many of us because the answer would be 'nothing.'

Although I suppose it would tell us who is honest or not, because we ALL commit crimes probably on a daily basis...they just aren't big ones, or they don't hurt others (at least we think they don't but they do have potential to) so we don't feel guilty about them.

LOVED this show as a young teen. Loved it. Thought the name "Bailey" for a girl was the most neat-o terrific thing I'd ever heard. Wanted to have a chest like Loni Anderson. Had the (mild) 70's crush on Gary Sandy (Andy).

I still have "Tea in the Sahara" in my head.

There are no practical real world applications. No complete suspension of morality. No one is going to commit the crime. It's hypothetical. This isn't some novel by Doestevsky.

Reading a novel by Dostoevsky is a crime? What about books by Nabokov? Would we be arrested by the Police? Even though it's their song? Is this limited to authors with Russian-sounding names or are others illegal too?

I could not be a car, Sam I Am, but but I love them unnaturally.

Seems like a homicidal maniac would have just the right makeup for that.

Don't ask me why, but that gorram song has been stuck on my head since showering.

One of the best shows evar!

(Just a wee bit worried about the shower. You say the song came out of the shampoo bottle?)

Jerry Springer was the Mayor of Cincinnati during at least part of the show's run. I blame Les Nessman for the invention of cublicals.

Morning all! ^_^

On the question of what crime I would commit, I think I will also steal a lot of money. Probably from the Swiss, to easy my conscience. If you've seen "Inside Man", something like that would be ideal for me (for those of you who haven't seen it, I'm not going to spoil it -- this from the girl who accidentally spoiled "The Sixth Sense" for three separate people ). Unlike Zeek I would continue working, heh. I would probably buy a house, real estate being what it is out here, and then use the rest of the money to fund various work projects. It'd be nice to not have to worry about funding anymore.

All that said, I have to admit that my first thought upon reading Rugbug's question was "smoke pot". Hehehe. What can I say, I'm curious. And time was, I definitely would have chosen to kill someone as my one free crime. But as I've grown up, I've forgotten all the names of the people I meant to kill, and I've discovered that having a sweet life (and hey, money!) is sometimes the best revenge.

My pet peeves for today: Women in my field who show themselves to be sub-par, self-centered, and utterly clueless every time they open their mouths. Pentagon officials who say "uhhhh" repeatedly on live TV. Trash cans without trash bags.

1. involving right and wrong: relating to issues of right and wrong and to how individual people should behave

2. derived from personal conscience: based on what somebody's conscience suggests is right or wrong, rather than on what rules or the law says should be done

3. according to common standard of justice: regarded in terms of what is known to be right or just, as opposed to what is officially or outwardly declared to be right or just
a moral victory.

4. encouraging goodness and decency: giving guidance on how to behave decently and honorably

5. good by accepted standards: good or right, when judged by the standards of the average person or society at large

6. able to tell right from wrong: able to distinguish right from wrong and to make decisions based on that knowledge

7. based on personal conviction: based on an inner conviction, in the absence of physical proof

Trust me. There are things better not mentioned here. Not to say it happens all the time, but it does and that ain't acceptable to me. Now if we could harvest our own...

The lack of remorse: disconcerting on one hand and reassuring on the other. One of the many side discussions on the duality of the nature of humans.

Hey now. I'm being truthful, too. I wouldn't kill someone. I just wouldn't. But I would steal a whole lot of money....

Just 'cause it isn't ugly and base doesn't mean it isn't truthful. (actually, taking something that doesn't belong to you or you didn't earn is one of the basest things out there...probably kicked off a lot of uglier murderous acts, 'cause people don't usually kill just to kill...again, unless your the lead character in a Doestevsky novel).

Right and wrong are relative. A lot of things most people think are wrong I have no problems with. Of all of those definitions, the three you picked are probably the closest to what might describe me.

WHITEFALL

Hi all... yeah, I know, I haven't seen ya all for four or five threads, but... ya know, things to do and suchlike. But you may have noticed the trend, I come here when I'm in need of relationship advice. Because for all your whackiness, I trust you guys.

But first, as for the crime question: money. definitly money theft.

Anyhoo.... my girlfriend and I are still going out and such, and we're both going to graduate high school at the end of this week (woo!!)... anyhoo.... since the first kiss thing two weeks ago, i've barely kissed her at all, and... well, I'm torn.

I have this idea, that we need to find ourselves a private space for a few hours and just learn how to kiss, though that'd be the most unromantic thing ever. not make out so much as learn how to kiss, so we dont keep bumping heads and then feeling silly. i've looked online and seems like the entire known universe already knows how to kiss, and it comes completely naturally... and for us it doesnt. and it bugs me. one thing i can glean from online info is that kissing universally improves the more you do it, but we're not going to get comfortable with it unless we practice and we dont practice because we arent comfortable with it. urgh!

so maybe i have a related question: how did you guys LEARN to kiss? not what was your first kiss so much as how did you learn?

and in case you hadnt guessed, my confused feminist self isnt particularly assertive, and my beloved nuclear-family girlfriend is often very passive when it comes to intimacy, which is frustrating, because she's told me she wants it.

Sorry for opening a random new imponderable. Thanks for being here though.

I learned to kiss by dint of necessity, someone grabbed my head, someone else grabbed hers and we were forcibly introduced (it wasn't quite what that sounds though, was more that we were both just pretty useless and it was annoying the hell out of our friends)

Seriously, setting time to 'practice' isn't the road to be taking, just bash on, best practice is to try for real So next time the two of you are alone, just try, learning is fun, and just giggle about the knocked heads, teeth and whatever, you're both, from what you said there anyway, in the same boat, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about

Murder. I'd be very choosey about who got it, but it'd probably be a politician. If that were the case, I'd also want it to be very public.

I've already stolen well over $1000 worth of stuff in my life time. Although... one big payoff might be worth foregoing a murder, now that I think about it. I guess it'd all really depend on when this oppertunity was afforded to me.

Whitefall - You're overthinking things waaaay too much. Let me set aside my standing opinion of "Don't date, shave your head, and become a war-priest." for just a second, and assume that you're going to make the worst mistake of your life and trust a woman. You've just bypassed surgical and precision ops, and have entered into a high intensity scenario. The most you can hope for is CDC, so that's where we'll start.

First off, I say abandon the practice exercises. Controlled chaos is a term you can apply as easily to love as you can to war. I couldn't stay balanced on my feet the first couple of times I kissed a girl with my eyes closed, but your body just gets used to it. That's the natural path of progression. Unless one of you is walking away with a bloody nose or a chipped tooth, you're doing fine.

All that said, I'm not exactly the foremost authority on dating, or for that matter, even interacting with the opposit gender.

Ride down from Asgard to the battlefield,
Bringer of the valiant dead who died but never yielded,
Carry we who die in battle over land and sea,
Across the rainbow bridge to Valhalla,
Odin's waiting for me.

How's it going, Nico?

I had the movie Men in Tights in my head from our talk last week, so I just had to watch it Saturday night. Passed out while doing so, though.

Doing okay (see pub thread for basic details). Also pimped the 76th to the Australian Costumers Guild (or whatever their official name is), since they have a lot of people who do sci-fi costuming.

G'evening Fly! (I will insist on saying good evening rather than g'morning for the next 115minutes, at which point it will actually become morning here).

Good evening! I'm not so centered in my own time zone (like too many people I know) that I can't appreciate the zone you are in. It might slip my mind at times, but I know that this board has lots of members from the U.K. and from Oz. (And other places) I keep a clock on my PC set to Melbourne time for a business partner of mine in Oz.

Good evening, good morning, good afternoon, and good night to everyone!

Well, simply subtract 30 minutes from the Melbourne time, and that's me.

Good Morning, Guys! (And Good Evening, Nico)

I'm on my third cup of coffee already. And I had a good weekend, too.

Hope everyone is well. We didn't have a terrific weekend here at the store, so I'll be back on by 11 AM or so.

Does anyone know how to convert a "non iTunes" song into a format you can download onto your ipod? I got a free download over the weekend but it is in that windows media format, and not acc (apple) format.
