Maybe we can get them to make Chocolate Dew. They tried orange and grape and cherry, of which the cherry is the only one you can still find (and my own personal favorite drink). Maybe they'll give it a go.

Doin' pretty good, actually. Looks like we might have our 8th booked for D*C! That there's a real shiny development!

I don't see why PepsiCo doesn't go ahead and just dew it. They and Coke have just about covered all the flavors there is for all their other products...

No, you are on my Top Ten list, as is your bunkmate, though I might still punch you in the face when I see you. The three others in my room are all the same as last year, and I am very fond of all of them. Additionally, the 76th's CO has become a very close friend of mine since the inception of the group.

There you are, Rugbug! I've been wanting to ask you a question for a few days.

So a few nights ago on Jeopardy, one of the questions was about horses. And specifically, all horses (In the Northern Hemisphere?) have the same birthday. The answer was Jan 1.

Can you explain this to me? If my horse was born April 9th, I'd have a party for him on April 9th...not New Year's Day.

Am I missing some critical "horsey" detail in this?

Good morning folks. I guess that evil work monkey does exist and is not merely a figment of my imagination.

Caught CMHs post from the previous thread. There are alot of things people don't see or understand when they do see when dealing with certain breeds of men and women. More often than not men and women of that caliber either suffer in silence or are beyond emotional connectivity. If you look at the operators chosen for many of Americas SF groups they are older stable men with families. My theory is that they are level headed, have a reason to fight harder than most, posess little guilt over doing dirty work, and are very efficient "adjudicators" because they offer their opposition a fast and clean resolution. I'd much rather have their sort on my side than religious extremists or blood thirsty dogs let loose from their masters leash.

It seems futile to explain alot to folks who don't know, but the closed doors CMH mentioned aren't closed because those folks who were there are ashamed of their feelings. In a hard way they have to avoid traumatizing others with the things they've seen and done. If anyone reading this is or has ever been close to someone who has done or seen any number of terrible things it is not usually a persons intention to hide from those they love. It is a protective gesture that has been employed for a very, very long time.

I know nearly zilch about horses, but doesn't that apply to race horses to make it easier to know their age? RugBug can chime in with more knowledge.

Wow...I was missed? Yippee.

Well, Jeopardy went a little above and beyond in their interpretation of that question. All THOROUGHBRED horses have the same birthday of Jan 1st. But other breeds have regular birthdates.

TBs have the same birthday for racing purposes. It would be too hard to figure if your 2 year, 4 month old is really closer to two or three and which race is should go in...for the two year olds or three year olds. To simplify, it's a 2 year old until Jan 1st, then it's three...even if it really is only 2 years 4 months.

TB breeders try their best to have foals born early in the year for this reason. Feb is preferred month for foaling as you don't flirt with a Dec. baby (which is death to the racer...horse could be 1 month old and still be considered a yearling) and yet you still get 11 months of growing before foal is a yearling.

Now my horse, not being a TB, has a birthday of July 15th (or maybe the 23rd...he has one date listed on his papers, the breeder told me another). If you were to ask me his age, I would tell you 'almost nine.'

I can't remember how the AQHA does it, but I'm sure the racing division does Jan 1st, so the performance horse division probably does as well.

So, to sum up, Jeopardy went a little broad with their question.

There alot of things that get me down. But the slightest explaination of the working of minds I have some empathy for isn't one of them. I'm a bit worried about a world that treats those they put in harms way like invisable people. I see too many folks scrutinizing those sorts without trying to understand where they are coming from.

I can't remember if it was here or in another thread but I mentioned Hippie liberal pussies running the show. Since I was little we had "visitors" from Kalifornia telling people in my home state that our way of living is wrong and that we need to follow their lead. Sound kinda like the assimilation process handed down with the American government policy towards Natives.

Now those same folks, after putting alot of people out of work, are recruiting their children to spill their blood in the name of democracy and national security. And they still scrutinize the folks they had previously persecuted and robbed.

So I'm hoping (and praying despite how much it might offend the ACLU) that people would chance in understanding others before jumping on the f&%#!*& wagon headed for those peoples hearts.

Remember: I am Indian. According to popular pre-PC racial slurs, we like burning wagons.

I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but in the couple of hours it took for me to go to the dentist, it seems the thread has lit up again, like it used to. (Of course now that I’m back, people will just go into hiding again.)

In order then:

Handy knowledge husband has there. Could annoy the horses feeding them carrots the wrong way. You move away when the poop comes out or you move away when the horse walks up? I think you should visit Bug in NoCal and she can give you lots of wine and Havarti and get you on a horse and like it!

As for punching you in the face, I might not have ever explained it, but you greatly resemble the asshat who Ami left with in November. Nope, more like slacker squared. So what is the California Techie lifestyle, you ask? Never go to bed before 3am Eastern. Never go to work before 12:30pm Eastern. Check your email while brushing your teeth and before putting in your contacts in the morning. Reply to email from your blackberry while at Starbucks. Take a break out of your all-day Saturday gaming session to go to the beach or the pool. Forgo the tradition techie-geeky pale for the California glow. Drink equal amounts of caffeine and bottled water. Always wear flipflops to work.

Asshattery abounds! I have another pic, but am waiting as SOMEONE is a little slow on the uptake and I do not want to be accused of flooding the thread.
