Hey all, this is my first post here but I've been visiting the site for awhile.

I just got back from picking up my pre-order at suncoast and found out why the pre-order price was so cheap.. it was a mistake.

When he was finishing ringing it up(49.99 sticker price) it came up as 37 after taxes..pre-order/replay discout and the 5.00 deposit. I told him it was supposed to be 19.99 and he looked at my confirmation sheet and said that the guy who accepted my pre-order must have made a mistake. Then the employee next to him said that it was actually a company wide mistake but that they're still honoring the 19.99 pre-orders for people that complain about it :)

yes, if you pre-ordered from Suncoast, even if you only paid the $5 down, dont back down. Make sure you show them your reciepts and dont let any nasty managers take it out on an unwitting employee. This was a corporate mistake.

A mistake that worked in many Browncoats favors. What can I say? We know how to exploit a good thing. Well its not really exploitation, just taking advantage of their screw-up.

Join me in an evil laugh?
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Plus, um - isn't that a contract?

I was always under the impression the an advertising price mistake HAS to be honored, especially in a pre-order situation. They are breaking the contract by switching the rules at a later time.

It's not exactly "bait and switch", but it's pretty close.

But maybe that's just the law in Canada.

That's the way it is in the US as well. They are required by law to honor that price if the customer points it out to them.

Wow. That's a convenient loophole, isn't it?

Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware. If the consumer doesn't say "Hey, that's not what this price says", then the merchant will just charge the higher price. I don't know if that part is actually legal or not, IANAL.

I do know that if they've advertised it at a given price, or you've already paid for it, they have to honor that price. In the case of pre-orders, if you've paid the full amount, that's a contract and they have to honor it or refund your money.

Picked mine up today. The checker stated the $19.99 price was a Corporate goof, but they were required to honor that price for pre-orders. Some mistakes are sweet.

I got mine at Media Play this afternoon. They had to check with the manager, but they honored the preorder price. As long as you've got a receipt you've got them over a barrel!

Got mine for $20. No problem at Suncoast. Again I say odd.

I orded a BUNCH from the only Sam Goody in Salt Lake City. They were nice enough to call the night before to remind me.

As I paid $20 for each set, the sales guy told me I was getting a good deal. I said, "Is this a mistake, or a good deal?" He said, "A good deal." On the box it says $49.99.

I then asked, "Have you had many requests for Firefly?"

And he said, "No, you've been the only one."

What's up with Utah?

I picked mine up from Sam Goody when they opened this morning - no hassle at all about the preorder price, even when I paid the remaining 15 bucks on a friend's preorder so it would be paid when she got there.

They had several copies on the the front sale shelf facing the doorway and somewhere between 15 and 20 on the reserve shelf. For a podunk town in Idaho I thought that was pretty shiny! :)
