I did that all through school. Had the unfortunate side-effect of causing me to go from sitting standard grades three years early to flunking my highers with a handful of C's though.

Not sure I advise it as a course of action.

*snikker* I told you, all the pix so far are x-rated!

I'll try to get some postable pictures so you can be vicariously rockstar.

It's really quite nice:
the entire bill is being footed by the insurance company directly (which otherwise would have cost me around $3000 to stay for the next month and a half), free high-speed internet access, free cable, free pool and sauna, free laundry, free breakfast every morning, I have more comfy pillows than a girl could possibly use in a lifetime (but I use them all, anyway), someone else cleans and takes out the garbage and makes my bed for me every day... I wonder if they'll do my dishes, too....

See what a wonderful thing Renter's Insurance is? ^^

I highly recommend it. Both the Renter's Insurance and the rockstar livin'. *snikker*

Odds! I was just thinking about you last night, in regards to your non-postiness on the picture thread. I hope you're doing well. ^^

Hey all.

Is it possible? Are Mavs, HK, and I all here at the same time?! (Does this count as in the same room, Fly? )

So, I was going to say, I'm having one of those mornings, but it's really not just this morning. I've been in a progressively more bitchy mood for the last week and a half or so. It's mostly my doctor's fault. Jackass hasn't called me with my test results yet. I can't get him to write me a new prescription until the test results are back, I can't fire him until he writes me the new prescription, and I can't go to the schnazzy Internist with a specialization in Immunology until I fire my current doctor! And while I'm waiting for this chain of events to finally ing start up, I'm stuck with the symptoms that sent me in for blood tests in the first place, which is making me seriously uncomfortable and irate!

Gah!

A professional group I'm involved in has also chosen this past couple of weeks to feature a guest writer/lecturer, a woman whose head I proceeded to rip off. I can't go into details (lets see if I can explain this frustration without any specifics!), but her focus isn't the same focus as the focus of this professional group (as laid out in our mission statement), and after prodding her a bit, it turns out that she knows next to nothing about our focus. She has a special interest she's campaigning for, and so basically has been spamming us for the past two weeks with things that we care nothing about, and which aren't even tangentally connected to what we're focused on, because she has precisely zero knowledge of our area. I took the time to point out that a) we try to keep on topic, and b) here are all the ways others in our field are already doing what you're asking for, but of course she's not interested in either. So I'm ignoring her. Still pissed off at her -- and pondering why there are so few women in my field who are worth the air they breathe -- but trying to ignore her.

Did I mention I've been irate lately?

Sigh. Anyhow, just wanted to vent.

So how is everyone else today?

*Hugs* Thanks, Mav. I've done the whole "waiting for the tests to come back so the doctors can see what I already know is wrong" thing, but this is the first time I've had to wait on it so that I can fire the doctor. I've decided that he's a sweet, well-intentioned man, but he's just not qualified to treat me. The other docs he's referred me to haven't been all that great, either. The other stressor is that my insurance puts the new doctor info effect on the first of the month, so if I don't get this taken care of soon, I'll have to wait until July to switch to the new doc.

I was doing some of my own research on the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins sites recently, and discovered that based on my medical history, I have Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome type 3C -- which means that I have a 25% chance of developing a third autoimmune disease (and after that, an even higher chance of developing a fourth). I've been telling my doctors that I think this is another autoimmune disease since it started up 3 years ago, but not a single one (of the 11 I've seen so far) has looked at my history and caught the PAS thing. So I'm hoping that someone with an Immunology specialty will know more about autoimmune diseases. The Immunologist is a much further drive, but if he can actually diagnose me, it'll be worth it. (If not, I'm driving up to Hollywood and paying House a visit, lol.)

Lol Jonny! Thanks, I needed that laugh. I can't say I'm surprised at Excel's weakness, but just for the sake of clarity, here's what needs to happen, in order:

1. Test results come back.
2. Doc calls me with the test results, and writes me a new prescription based on the test results.
3. I fill the new prescription, then quietly fire the doc.
4. I call my insurance and ask them to switch me to the schnazzy Immunologist, hopefully before the end of May.
5. I go see schnazzy Immunologist, who is so very awesome and manages to diagnose me, and starts treating me -- early treatment is the best offense against autoimmune diseases, which Schnazzy Immunologist surely knows.
6. Schnazzy Immunologist continues to test me early and often, knowing that I have a very high chance of developing another autoimmune disease.

Hey, a girl can hope, can't she?

Oh, I know Berger's Disease! So far my kidneys seem to be fine, though if they weren't I think the diagnosis would go the way of Lupus rather than Berger's, given my other symptoms. My family has a long history of autoimmune diseases, and I've read that the more blood relatives you have that have one the more likely you are to get one, and the more you have the more likely you are to get more. I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata when I was 11 (immune system attacks the hair follicles and makes all your hair fall out -- yeah, middle school was a blast for me! -- but it's in remission now), and then Hashimoto's (immune system attacks the thyroid and makes it underactive) when I was 22. Hashimoto's + Alopecia Areata = PAS type 3C. Easy as pie to diagnose, since it's based completely on two existing diagnoses, but it took me browsing Mayo's site to find it.

The doctor I'm ditching has joked about sending me to the Mayo clinic, and if I had had another bad winter this year, I might have pushed him on that. But since they haven't been able to diagnose me for so long, I've been keeping track of what causes my symptoms to flare, and from that realized that it was worst right after I caught a flu bug and ran a fever over 100 degrees (I think running a fever puts my immune system on overdrive, in every possible direction). Knowing that, I managed to go all fall and winter without catching anything serious, by using a lot of Purell and drinking a lot of water. The good news is I'm feeling as good now as I did at the end of last summer. The bad news is that I'm feeling as good as I did at the end of last summer, so Dr. Well Intentioned isn't so interested in diagnosing me anymore.

Er... so... a decent laptop in Aussie Pesos would be, what? About $7US? *snikker!* *flees!*

What ever you care to donate (or nothing at all should you so choose(I'm not pushy or anything)) O Sneaky One!

I told her we should set up a "kissing thread" and charge a dollar per virtual kiss. For some reason I could see the funny look she was giving as she read that part.

I am not crazy... no wait...what? Yeah!

I guess my humour is sometimes a little off.

EDIT: You work at Mayo? *is in serious AWE of HK*

Actually, yes.
I know a few companies working on minimally invasive devices (i.e., out-patient procedures) to correct MVR, and we're working with a small company in California on it, too. ^^ The stuff I've seen so far is way awesome. (Even percutaneous valve replacement!! Which is probably something that only impresses me, you bunch of heathens....)

Aw, I didn't need any more proof of that, sweetie....

Well, I can't tell you enough how great the Mayo Clinic is. They're one of the few medical establishments I would trust with people I care about. Best and the brightest work there, not afraid to try new things to help patients. I've even heard rumor that the King (?) of Saudi Arabia has his satellite dish pointed at the clinic so he can stay up-to-date with all the newest things and also so, in the event of a medical emergency, he can contact them immediately. I think they treated one of the Princes? But maybe it wasn't the King. Maybe it was "just" one of the Sheik oil barons. *shrugs*

At any rate, I think that's enough free advertisement for Mayo... *snikker*

Aw, I was just poking fun at the conversion rate. See?!? THIS is what happens when I have to entertain myself!! Sad, pathetic attempts at humour that only amuses me... you people should learn your lesson.

I work for a wee medical device company. We have taught our stuff, along with revolutionary procedures, to a number of Docs at Mayo, though. ^^ (And when I say "we," I clearly mean the brilliant world-renown founder of the wee company, whose coattails I do adore.)

XOXO,

Actually...just by asking you've helped loads. (HUG) - I've just had an emotional few days. I'm in need of a recharge.

Did you ever have times when everything stressful happens in a compressed period of time - that's what the last few days have been.

Like I said earlier, I'm trying to rock that Wu Wei, that action through non action, that always seems to work for me.

(And to top it off today was Husband's birthday...and he is a notoriously fussy birthday boy. I was pleased and relieved when he was quite pleased with his birthday gifts.)

I'm going to toodle around the 'Net, while i have some time tonight. I'll be back. :-)

I caught your conversion (sp) (gods I can't spell, or at least it looks wrong to me) joke. Obviously I not good with the jokey's back. *hint*()

No loss of the Kelkhil AWE HK. You might not work at Mayo but you have taught those fine Drs something new. Which is better? I say what you do. You help them to be better!

So yet again *is in AWE of HK*
