The previous thread was getting hella long!

1. U Turn with Sean Penn
2. Johnson Family Vacation

Both were rentals. Both were picked by my husband. The lesson is......never let a German pick your movie rentals!

My biggest problem with talking about "worst movies ever" is I never remember the names a year or two later.

The original Robocop movie falls under "worst" for me. It sufficiently grossed me out, I stopped watching it and never bothered to pickup the rest of the story.

1) "What' the worst that can happen" , with Martin Lawrence and Danny Devito .....ughh--I had to swallow the vomit in my mouth

2) "Patch Adams" ....... I think Robin Williams if funny on occasion, but this is painful

Dear Diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today, we were kidnapped by hillfolk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.

STOWEAWAY

1.) Short Cuts -- had an all-star ensemble cast (Madeline Stowe, Julianne Moore, Matthew Modine, Tim Robbins) and was supposed to be an "art" film. Maybe I didn't "get it" but I was thoroughly pissed at my sister for making me watch it. Total waste of 3 friggin' hours!

2.) Gone With the Wind -- I used to live in GA and there you're not allowed to say that you don't like this movie without being pummeled. I was a closet-hater 'til I moved out of state.

Yeah, unless you’re in a business, like a critic, where you have some motivation to remember this stuff, most people won’t. But most recently, I saw Norbert. This wasn’t a movie that I would normally have sat through, but I was with some friends, and as a result of this experience, I’ve decide that friends are very overrated.

Armagedon was a masterpiece compared to Deep Impact. I was cheering for the asteroid and disappointed it didn't destroy more.

Yes, yes, and YES! I was looking firward to this movie, I mean it had Nicholson, it had Close, it had an all star cast of legends dammit, so what the hell happened? How in the hell could they allow themselves to be a part of this smelly smelly piece of feeyoo. All the while I'm watching this and thinking "What is this crap? What did I just waste 2 hours of my life on?" I couldn't BELIEVE this was let out in the theaters. Burton what the hell were you thinking? About the only real good part was watching the US congress get disintegrated. When this comes on the tv I avoid it so I can stop parts of my IQ from dropping. Just..... Feyoo.

That goes for The Core as well. Hour after hour of repetitive cliche after cliche, nothing of which made sense. It was just Hollywood blather screaming Look at this, look at the amazing things we can come up with technically that blows your mind and lines out pockets. Aren't we clever? Ahhh no. Your not. You are however like any Hollywood suit that claims to be making gold, only to find out it's yellow painted lead. There are too many of these types of movies (remember that trend?) Armeggedon was one, and that one with rapid global warming and the consequences therin (scary to think this could happen, but in a matter of days? wtf?) The Clint Eastwood movie of old astronaughts who have to go in space to stop a meteor I mean my God, do something original already.

Rant over for now.

Yeah. My big problem is that I've got a pretty good sense of whether or not I'll enjoy something. So a lot of the ones I really hate aren't technically all that bad, I just don't like them.

But here's one that's just so awful and incoherent, it's just hilarious:

Fantasy Mission Force. It's an old Jackie Chan movie from the '80s, which should tell you enough.

Actually, they were disarming Soviet nukes leftover from the Cold War.

...Sorry. Was on TV the other day.

TRAVELER

I share the same problem as some other in that the worst movies are the most forgetable. I work at it and I seem to be successful, because I have a vague memory of something about goblins in an apartment building with a time portal or some such thing. Badddddd. With a capital "B".

Hostel.

I was in the room when my brother put it in. Fans will try to tell you different but there was no story. Basically it was just "let's do as many painful, violent, horrible, disgusting things to people as we can" and people think it's entertaining!?! The pornography of violence. I usually don't care all that much about violent films, so long as there's a good film to accompany it. This didn't have that. It was voilence for its own sake. And there's a sequel coming out.

Now now now.... See, I have seen every movie that he has ever done and met him at a lecture he was giving at my local Community College (his Dad is a semi-retired Professor there). I even tortured my wife and repeatidly watched the made for Sci-Fi movies and loved them for their campyness.

This movie had the potential to be THE BEST movie he had done since EDs and it just wasn't there. I mean come on, Elvis, Kennedy in a new body and a frigin Mummy! This movie should have been EPIC! It just wasn't. It was like every time they had a chance to make a joke they stopped one step short of the funny!

Initially, that was my reaction too. But then I watched it again with some friends, knowing it wasn't very funny.... And it actually works much better as a drama than a comedy. Bruce gets some good zingers here and there, but it's largely a pretty serious movie (except for the plot, of course). That's just my opinion, though.

I might if he ever bothered to learn to act.

And OMG how could I forget Mars Attacks. Bleech!

And one to make me unpopular: Thelma and Louise. Sure, I find blantant brain-dead stupidity to be empowering to my gender. Not. This was one I walked out on. Happily.

Hostel. I love every movie I've ever seen that Quentin Tarentino Did up to that one. The Sequel isn't worth the film that it's printed on and the time and work the poor people making it put in. It was simply a bad porno soaked in blood.

Second Worst - Touristas. It was the same movie only with less thought put in ((If thats even possible)) and crappier production values ((Wouldn't have believed it was possible.)) I suffered through sitting in the room while it played.

One movie that is out now that is surprisingly amazing was Hot Fuzz. It really was my sort of movie, whenever I'd have said "Holy F**K" they said it for me, and a number of things happened immediately after I realized they were about to happen. Really got a kick out of it, though I annoyed some other movie-goers with my comprehension of some of the more UK oriented humor that other Americans wouldn't get. Sorry for my tangenting.

This movie wasn't horrible it was more a lack of understanding it that raped my senses.
*Mulholland Drive* with Noami Watts. Seriously I was like WTF. And I'm pretty good at understanding most "out" there movies, but this was beyond me. Being resourceful I even looked up what people thought it was supposed to represent and the answers were not in anyway hinted at in the movie....If you're ever in the mood for a mental mind-fuck, that's the movie I suggest.

Actually, Quentin Tarantino did not "do" this movie. HE didn't write, direct, edit or come up with the concept for this thing. He was a producer. They just splashed his name all over the trailers because it's recognizable.

That being said, I agree with your opinion on Hostel (see my earlier post) but I don't hold Tarantino's involvment with this piece of crap against him. Everyone I like in movies has been a part of at least one project that I can't stand.

On a similar subject, has anyone here ever really enjoyed a movie that they just knew was horrible. Come on, quilty pleasures here. For example, I hate to admit it but I enjoyed the Dungeons and Dragons movie. I know it was a bad movie, with bad acting and a questionable3 story but I can't help it.
