Yup. I'll probably get in trouble.

Congratulations on getting firsties!

Edit: I'll shut it off before it draws bad attention. But it looked like this:

Most of the Imponderables have wandered off for the weekend. I saw your post in the bar. If it helps you feel better we can have a conversation there.

Nice to hear from you. I just got up, but Saturday must pretty much be over for you. Midnight, or close to it.

Oh there is no doubt about that, dear Magdalena. The question is did you get to the "slightly insane" area by moving out of "normal" to slightly insane, or my moving out of "completely insane"?

Hey all

Hi ya Mags long time no see!

I realize that no many will be here since it is saturday and you all have a life, but I have a question for the men.

Long story, but a gentleman told me that if I wanted to be asked out (by men in general) all I had to do was that thing that women do to let men (in general) know that we want to be asked out. So what IS that, exactly?

Flash them?

Honest-to-God I have no idea. What I expect of a woman or what attracts me to a woman has got to be something completely out on the edge of the Bell curve. But that's me.

I don't know how you defined the man as a "gentleman", but he does you no favor by making such a statement. In fact you don't want to be asked out by "men in general" because so far that type of man has not been right for you.

You want to find a man who CAN be a gentleman. And just engage in conversation. Watch him; watch him watch you.

For me it is the eyes. I get locked in to a woman's eyes easily. ("Quit staring at my eyes, you pervert. My boobs are down here!" )

Probably means the whole, 'make sure you face them, cock your head to one side and touch their arm' thing. Which I always thought was a bit lame, but apparently it works on most of my species. In the end you show one of us blokes any kinda attention we're gonna get the idea.

And I'm sure you don't need to do much to get someone to ask you out FMF.

FMF, so this is the point when a guy comes riding in on a big white horse, (read as: BMW/Mercedes), and sweeps you off your feet, (read as: understands you perfectly and thinks yer wonderful).

Yeah I know, beneath my chubby, gruff and cynical exterior I'm just a big wussy romantic.

OK so I got my hair did (and by the way I look FABULOUS) put on some makeup (Mark the calendar this is a red letter day) and wore something really niiiiice. Went out with my boys to dinner and NOT ONE MAN LOOKED AT ME.

I give up. I had more luck at the gay bar in Dupont Circle Wash, DC when I was a kid.

I've had days like that. It really makes you feel unwanted and ugly, and unattractive. I think it was because you had your sons with you, so the guys left you alone and it really had nothing to do with you. In my case I was being a pushy, mean loudmouth and no guy wants to have to deal with that.

Morning all:)
FMF I'd agree you were with your strapping sons on what was likely a mother's day outing. I don't know many men who would be comfortable hitting on you in those circumstances. HUGS though 'cause that always makes you feel weird. I agree road trip and party time is in order

Well that was a productive weekend. I painted the front door a gorgeous dark red ( several coats) planted 24 geraniums, and 48 red impatience. Also, did the yard and watering:) I think the door needs one more coat and I still have to paint the porch, but all in all, got some stuff done:)

Good morning MSG. I'm missing chunks of the siding from the side of my house from a storm that blew through in the middle of the night. Family OK. Exhausted is a poor way to start out the week.

Wow, you were busy this weekend. Me, I didn't do nothing. Ran errands and went on a date Saturday. Went to a movie and had dinner with my Sister on Sunday. I didn't even do laundry.

And some advise for FMF. Ditch the kids if you want to pick up guys. Kids and dogs work for menfolk, but not for girlfolk. And start asking friends to help set you up.

Upper arm/bicepy area. Just sorta place a hand there. No need for a squeeze or rub or anything. Make sure you have something to say at the time. Doesn't really need to be anything important, but you can never go wrong with *hand on arm* *lock eyes* "it was nice meeting you" *guy turns to putty*

There is one BDH comfirmed for D*C, and a few others with verbal confirmations.

Personal and connecting is kinda the idea, as it means you have been personal and connecting with us instead of some other guy (regardless of whether or not you have done the same with someone else, it's the perception that matters).

MsG, I believe it is the arm squeeze/ intense eye connection combo that is the jump start.

Without the eyes, the arm squeeze is (generally) just friendly.
Without the arm squeeze, the eye connection is a staring contest.

I find that combo, with a small sideways smile for effect, does the trick every time.

I don't doubt that you have a LOT of guys that like you.

It would be more than just the touch. Deep eye contact. Turning and lowering head slightly, but not losing the contact. Perhaps raising one eyebrow a little. Slight smile becoming more pronounced. The right words for the situation. Just /slightly/ inside his (or her) personal space. The look of expectation of a positive reply.

And for Jonny (where are you, man?) complete nudity.

Edit: Huh. I must be right if I'm agreeing with Mav. (Taking notes, FMF?)
