And how was your weekend?

From the last thread, JPStargazer asks a question:
Quote:

Okay, I have a situation here. My roomate is basically my best friend outside of high school (I'm in college now and we went to school together) and he just proposed to his girlfriend. I'm not really thinking about "Is she the right girl?" type things, but more along the lines of WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME? I mean I think that something like this would merit at least a "hey, I'm going to propose tonight" type comment. I mean, he even had me bring some flowers he had in our fridge downtown so he could propose. I was directly involved basically...and I don't get the heads up? What's the deal?

and Whitefall has a big announcement:
Quote:

In Whitefall news, all the stuff is in order (or at least the important parts) and so i'll be going to UCLA in the fall. So far i'm happy with it just because of the response i get when I tell people. Whether i can survive the school itself remains to be seen.

Been having fun?

I had a great day on Saturday, especially the part where my brothers jeans fell down. It's all detailed in my blog.

Thanks.
There are moments when I'm quite happy about it...and moments where I would prostitute my very soul to get a cig butt thrown on the floor by (insert dirty celebrity that makes your skin crawl here).

My sense of smell is coming back. It's pretty amazing what I've been missing.
That, and I can tell my blood pressure is lower. I'm pretty in tune with what my pressure is doing, and pre-quitting I could tell it wasn't under control very well. Between smoking & coffee consumption...I wasn't doing my kidney any favors. It is much better - and that is always a good thing for my kidney.

EDIT: Gotta go do some actual work. Back in 45 min or so. -M.

I scrubbed and sealed my deck, mowed, and sprayed the yard for weeds. A tiring but good weekend!

Wow I have found that my blood pressure has been rising because of the quiting. Well mainly because I have no patience at the moment.

*hangs head in shame* It was not a good weekend for quiting. I did cheat a couple of times but man they tasted like crap and I could smell them for hours!

I fared a little better. I didn't cheat. I wanted to. Real bad, especially Saturday night. But then was reminded why I quit.

Husband decided the time was right.

And I made him take a shower and brush his teeth first.

I couldn't go near him unless he did.

He was...unamused.

I was...unrepentant.

Sweetie, what planet do you live on?

I have posted several times that I had a kidney transplant in 1992, in my early 20's...right between when my parents died.
Got it from my sister. (She's a good egg...)

(I actually have 3 kidneys, if you want to be technical. My two "Natives" have atrophied to the point that they don't show up on x-ray anymore.)

I've been on BP meds since I was diagnosed. Your kindeys control your BP.

Kelkhil, the tasting like crap thing is a very good sign. I had a smoke a couple of months ago if you could call it one. My lungs were as unamused as my taste buds. I had to know if after almost 9 years (at the time) I was free enough to just walk away again. I am.

Thanks for the hugs, guys...but I didn't (and generally don't) mention my transplant because after so many years, it really is in the background now.

I got to the nephrologist a few times a year for the peepee test, and I control my BP. That's about it.
I was sick then. I'm not sick (knock formica) now.

I never let my illness define me. I was never a "kidney transplant patient." - That was the kid for whom they collected money on the counter of the local Pizza Hut. That was never me. And I've been exceedingly healthy since then.

Edit: Hi LA! Haven't had time to look...What is Beltane??? It seems to be a happy, fruit filled holiday...

Wow. Phrenology is accected as a real practice by the AMA now? Cool. I have these bumps on my head...

So you are also steroid, cocaine, heroine, THC free too then? At least a few times a year. BP is a good thing to have under control no matter what anyway. But how is it that you are so incredibly caffeinated?

I see nothing wrong with it. First, he might have been nervous that she'd say no and he didn't want everyone knowing just in case. Second, don't you think she deserves to be the first to know? You might be the best friend, but she's the fiance. She out ranks you. Is that the real problem here? Are you upset about not being the most important?

DRIVE - blame me for its cancellation; I didn't like it and don't care that it's gone (horrible, horrible HK!)

Me too. I'm sorta glad it's gone actually. Now Nathan can move on to better shows. At least that's the hope.

I'll chime in and make this an evil triumvirate. I wanted to like Drive, I really did. I wanted it to do well. I watched the first 20 minutes or so of the first episode, and really didn't like it. Nathan was, of course, completely awesome, but I found myself thinking "It's impressive what that man can do with a really bad script." I had to turn it off. I tried watching another random 10 minutes or so from episode #4 (they were robbing a bank?), and again just couldn't stand it. Maybe if the show had followed *just* Nathan and his crew, and not any of the other groups, it could have been ok. So yeah, blame me for the show being canceled (except that I don't have a Nielsen box, so my viewing habits don't count, anyway).

In other news, my sister-in-law had her baby early Sunday morning, making me officially an aunt! My mom is all too ready for grandparenthood, but I think my Dad is still reeling. My own great grandmother (my great grandfather's younger, second wife) was visiting my parents in Texas when they got the call, and she seems pleased as punch to be a great great grandmother. When I was 18, out of the blue she informed me that she wanted to live to be a great great grandmother. I apologized for making her wait 8 years for that to happen, lol.

Other than that, my weekend was pretty uneventful. Cloud cover came in late Friday and I didn't quite finish sewing my swimsuit top, so no beach this weekend. And I'm one step closer to being keyed for Karazhan, for all you WoW fans out there.

So how is everyone else doing this Monday?

Hey HK how goes the whole insurance nightmare and the cleaning of clothes and apartment etc... HUGS I am so very sorry honey. I've been there and even knowing insurance will replace and clean, it still sucks to be living at someone else's and not have your things around you.

CK- HUGS and how are you sweety?

Hey MsG! *Hugs* I'm doing ok, all over the place really. I'm soooo excited for my brother and his wife (they had a boy, btw, 2 weeks early, 7 pounds 1 ounce, both mom and baby doing just fine), and I found out yesterday that my best friend is going to have a baby girl in August. And yet, I'm finding that I am doing much better with the idea that hubby and I won't ever have children of our own. Almost happy about it, actually, since we've started talking seriously about how we structure our lives for the next 40 or 50 years in the absence of children. But mostly I'm just really excited to meet these new little people who are being added to my extended family.

But on the downside, I've got some new health issues coming to light now, and that's getting me down. And the cloudy days are seriously getting to me (which is odd for a girl who grew up in Oregon, but hey, I wasn't vitamin D deficient back then). So I'm feeling a bit blah this morning. And coffee didn't help nearly as much I hoped it would.

Ck- I know just what you mean. If you can't have your own, the little ones who join your family are just that much more wonderful. What is the new little one's name>?
