Yes indeed they were, barkeep, I'll have one of whatever the lady is drinking and a green tea for me please.

Is it happy Beltaine? My pagan fesitvals knowledge is a little weak being solely based on Bernard Cornwall's Arthur trilogy bit I believe spring festival. I also seem to remember something about nailing the first new lamb to a tree as an offering to the gods but could be getting things mixed up. Coming back to me now, feasts, jumping through hoops, big bonfire etc.

I shall have some honey soaked fruit (can't be bad for digestion) and plait my hair specially.

Mmmmmmmmmm. Ginger. Mmmmmmmmm. Plum. So, while I was at Job #2 this weekend, MsQ did a "butt load" of yard work and got burnt, too. Wasn't a total loss on my part: I got to see RMMC for a bit and she seems to be doing pretty good. Losing a mom is never an easy thing.

But Happy and Joyous Beltaine to all. Must be an internal thing for some of us (read: subconscious). My post for today was to announdce an invention I perfected over the weekend and wondered if you'd want to try it out at the pub.

For a about a week now I kept seeing what I believe is a new product at the store: SoftSoap Pomegranate & Mango body wash. I kept thinking that sounds yummy. MsQ needed some and I got some for her and some for me. (It was a 2-4-1 special.) Used it this morning and it smells great. My shampoo is sour apple. My handsoap is Cinnamon and Fig. Got me to thinking and with all the flowers garnishing this thread it couldn't be a more appropriate time.

So as my Beltaine gift to the Pub may I present the Botanical Converter Machine. It takes your favorite florally, fruity scented soap, shampoo, body wash, spray, mist, bubble bath, whatever and turns it into a potable concoction for you to enjoy!

Morris dancing is a form of English folk dance, often involving bad beards, bells, hankies, sticks and real ale. The correct attitude towards it is best summed up by Oscar Wilde and here I quote, 'A man should try anything once except for incest and morris dancing.'

The most profound and disturbing anti-smoking commercial I ever saw was the one with Yul Brynner, shown shortly after his death. Wiki explains:

Brynner died on October 10, 1985 (the same day as Orson Welles, his costar in The Battle of Neretva) in New York City. The cause of death was lung cancer brought on by smoking. Throughout his life, Brynner was always seen with a cigarette in his hand. In January 1985, nine months before his death, he gave an interview on Good Morning America, expressing his desire to make an anti-smoking commercial. A clip from that interview was made into just such a public service announcement by the American Cancer Society, and released after his death; it includes the warning "Now that I'm gone, I tell you, don't smoke."

*shudder*

Ironically, 1985 is the same year I started smoking...

Powell's is my most favoritist bookstore(s) in the Whole Wide World. If you are ever in Portland, it is a *must visit*

I actually had my pic taken inside Powell's I was so impressed with that store.

(My parents lived outside of Portland for a while)
