Australian Airsoft classification!!

Hi all you Aussie's who love and support the 'verse!

As an active member of the 76th who is saving hard and travelling to the US to march with the battalion in it's inaugural outing, I was thinking on the possibility that we might, some day, form an Australian corps here to attend and highlight the passion of the Browncoats for this 'verse that Joss created - but alas I discovered that we couldn't be properly kitted out...

It turns out that Airsoft are classified as a 'class A firearm in Australia - thus putting them alongside real weapons including semi-automatic rifles and hand guns... this is simply wrong... Airsoft rifles and hand guns are not dangerous - they are used much like paintball and we would like to own our own weapons in order to recreate the uniform of the 76th accurately here!

I am not interested in a 'right to bear arms debate' - this is not the place for it - but I posted this thread here so that it might be seen by as many Australian Browncoats as possible... thanks for taking the time to read this far - and please let your Aussie browncoat friends know about the plight of the 76th down under too!

Thank you BlindOutlaw!! I didn't know you were from Australia!! It's so good to meet another one! Whereabouts are you from? You know that you don't have to be marching to become a member of the 76th don't you? You can just pop in and take a look around - join, post - we have lots of folk who are members and enjoy the community (over 120 now) and only about 25% who are committed to march this year (about 36 I think) so you're more than welcome to pop in and take a look and get to know the troops!

Yeh i've looked around before on the 76th site, seemed pretty cool, i'll have to go back again. Actually the whole march thing reminds me of when i use to be in the guard party of the local ANZAC day dawn service, oh how young i was.

Oh and your first question, I'm from the central coast (just north of Sydney) in New South Wales. Alright place nice people, good weather.

Anyway where bouts you from?

I agree with the intent of the petition though I must draw attention to the woeful spelling in it. I think any authority would ignore it solely because of the spelling.
