Hey, my lil' ol' web banner won the Firefly desgin contest! Powerful good feeling to be able to keep doing things that help to promote MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER.

The contest is through a Firefly team associated with the "guerilla marketing" company M80. But it's all legit... Chris Buchanan from ME said so.

Here's the banner:

This banner really is meant to be put out there to promote the Firefly DVD. The code is provided on the team page on the M80 site... the banner must link to the Fox Store.

I could post the code here, but I've learned that this site will put the actual item up if you do that, 'cause it's like all technical and more sophisticated and stuff than regular Forums...

Firefly thrives on the support of the fans. This banner is meant to be used. Any suggestions from folks on how I can provide the code here so people can "cut and paste", without the actual banner and link appearing instead?

Only 2 weeks now... let's really turn up the heat on getting the Firefly DVD word out there!

How about a link to a web page or text file?

That looks great, you should have done the official DVD cover, in my opinion.

Thank you for the suggestions, both are doable. I didn't intially put the M80 team page link up because to access the Firefly team page you must first register as a member. Some people may want to join the team, but for those who don't then they wouldn't have access to the code info.

For those interested in joining the M80 Firefly promotional team (no dues, fees or humiliating initiation rites required), the address is: http://www.m80teams.com/
The code is under the "News" section once you're on the team page.

Below is an experiment. First, the "cut and paste" code provided, to see if it works:

EDIT: After posting I saw that the code does not seem to do what it's supposed to do. I've sent an e-mail to our team leader to get more info. Technology is a cruel mistress.

Second, I uploaded a text file to my ISP. Now this was created on my Mac, so I hope there is no "translation" problem and it is usable by everyone.

Let's see if this works!

P.S.
Thanks very much for the vote for me doing the Firefly DVD graphics! It would have been a wonderful thing indeed. Guess I'll have to start compaigning to do the DVD of the Firefly movie! 11th

Yes! M80 has provided this code and image hosting so that people are freely able to use the web banner. I'm not a code expert, but I noticed the extra message you added... heh... heh...

For those who may want to place the jpeg on their own system, just download my image file at:

FOO://home.att.net/~the11thhour/ff-dvd-banner.jpg

I did the "FOO" thing too in order to prevent just the image being posted here... just replace it with: http

I received a reply from the Firefly team leader, Ginger, regarding why the code didn't work in my previous post:

Hey Susan,

The code should be fine for HTML. If I cut and paste it into the "code"
section of Dreamweaver, then preview, it works. Does the site maybe use
UBB code? In that case, it would have to look something like this:

p://assets.m80im.com/teams/buffydvd/firefly-banner.jpg[/img]

I'm not sure how that site interprets things, though. I know that some
sites will accept the HTML to display the image, but won't let the image
link to anything (if you're using a submission form).

I have a text file with the HTML and UBB code available for download at:

http://home.att.net/~the11thhour/ff-banner-code-both.rtf

Thanks for the reply... and by all means spread the banner around. If you have a website, or know people who have websites and are willing to place the web banner, full speed ahead. The Firefly DVD release date is getting very close now.
