Hey all. I've tried to go through and edit as many posts as I can find that had apparently some disgusting pic in it that were linked to a funny cat photo website MSG and myself had found.

Sorry about any troubles and if there are more links around with the pics leme know and I'll try to get them fixed.

Alas, on our pc, even with the cache emptied everything still shows on our end hunky-dorry so we have no idea what may have posted up or anything.

Again sorry about that, and I'll make sure when the wifey gets up that we need to make sure all pics are photobucketed instead of linked.

I've been informed that it's actually quite well known on the internet and is used largely to shock. To which I can only say "Job done!"

Okay, IT Trainer time. Allow me to use this as an opportunity to talk to the board in general about hosting images.

When you see an image you like and want to use, move your mouse over it and click on the image with the right mouse button. A small menu pops up on the screen.

In the menu, click on "Save Image As..." this brings up a 'Save As' window and you can choose a place on your computer to save the image. Usually the first place your computer chooses is a folder called 'My Pictures' - but anywhere you can find the image again is fine.

Once the image is saved to your PC, you can host it on the internet using photobucket or imageshack. Click on the 'browse' button on their screen and then just find the image on your computer and click on the 'Save' button. The blank box on the screen next to browse will be filled in with the location of your image. Click on 'Host it' or whatever button they have on the screen to host images and voila! Your image is now stored on the internet.

A bunch of codes will appear on the screen so that you can add your image to websites, e-mails, myspace pages and whatever else you may use it for. For signatures or posts here, use 'direct link to image' - which should look something like this:

http : // www . nameofsite . com / morenamestuff . gif - without the spaces but you get the idea.

I know fifty people have probably posted better instructions in the time it's taken me to type this, but what the hey. Hopefully you all get the idea!

EDIT: Anyone with Firefox can download the adblock add-in and then block the image so it won't show up again. Once you have it downloaded, right click on the image and choose 'adblock'

I know it's annoying, but hotlinking to a site is generally to be avoided. A link to an image uses that site's bandwidth, and every site only has a limited amount. If they go over the limit, they have to pay more, and quite often their site can't handle the extra and crashes. Someone here described hotlinking to a site as plugging an electrical device into a socket in someone else's house. You're basically using their energy, and they have to pay the bill. It's not a good idea. Hosting your own stuff is best.

If you want somewhere more stable than photobucket or imageshack to store images then you can set up a website with google. Go to the google labs link under the 'more' section in google. It's free! You get oodles of space to store images, and you can have your own website to boot

Geekmafia has a googlepages site set up - http://midknight.wilson.googlepages.com - I use mine to store the images on my own site. You'll need a gmail account to set one up.

What's really annoying is that the sig file here doesn't update dynamicaly..nor is there a "find all posts by" function, so alas, this is going to take a while to fix.

Thanks Rose...HUGS Oh I am so embarrassed. Thanks for helping everyone. If you notice one that's still ...eeeeew let me know and I'll change it. Unfortunately, several times people did reply with quote and copied my sig into it and I can't take those out. So if you did, please delete it...Also, I have learned my lesson and will never ever ever post anything I didn't photobucket first!
MisterG has been a really really good sport and has spent hours with me slowing and painstakingly going through every thread of the last week and removing that horrible thing from every freakn post and by the way I think I post too much!!
