Morning, Coolerites! As yesterday was a post-a-thon, I thought I'd start us off with a nice fresh thread.

Headline News: Joel Silver plans a remake of Logan's Run. (Chrisisall, if you are reading this, didn't we predict this is the remake we'd most like to see?)

$2 if I use my soldering iron.

Yeah, but it'll cost you another $60 or so for enough Jameson to keep me from slugging you. Plus it'd be a little hard to get the colors just right.

I actually found out that it will only be $110, and take about an hour. This is half of what I was expecting to spend, with the color and detail and all, so I am very happy. Also I'm getting a lot more back from the gov't than I thought, so I will have money for that and maybe even a replacement computer.

Morning Tina!

Last night on the way home I stopped to buy some very expensive petrol (it was a BP station after all) and, lo and behold, they were selling them at the counter--pushing them at the counter. And not only were they the chocolate ones, THEY WERE THE GINGER ONES! They are sitting here right next to me. Waiting for me to have breakfast so I can try one.

They must be around somewhere near you...!

Morning all

As I said yesterday, Jimi, that tattoo sounds really ace. I'm very impressed with anyone who has enough dedication to the 'verse to get something Firefly related branded onto their skin for life. NVG's tattoo is really great too

I'm still hankering for getting 'Serenity' tattooed in ogham, but I'm still unsure about where to get it. Somewhere on my back, but I keep changing my mind!

Honestly, Tinadoll, I'm the biggest baby when it comes to any kind of pain, but I still found it fine. If I can get a tattoo, anyone can! The only part that hurts is the outline, once they do the shading you barely feel anything. And even the outline isn't that bad.

When you get your back tattooed, you can't see the needle.

I had it built up in my mind that it was gonna hurt like the dickens. It didn't.
I've heard from reliable sources that the inner arm, the ankle/foot, and the ribcage can be painful.

My next one will probably be on the front of my hip. I think.

Mine didn't hurt too terribly at all, the only bad part was the equals sign, the rest was nothing. It actually goes a bit numb after a while. :)

I think you really, really have to want one in order to get one done. Otherwise you'll never figure out what it is that you want!

I knew I wanted some kind of Celtic pattern for a very long time. It still took a while to find exactly the right one, but I'm delighted with the result.

Not that it's special or anything - it's a very generic design and I bet there are thousands of people out there with one exactly the same! - but I really love it. Maybe it's because it's on my back and I don't see it all the time, but I really like how it looks.

That being said, I tend to keep it covered. It's not all that low on my back though, just below the waist, so people do get a glimpse sometimes. The universal reaction from aquaintances has been surprise that "someone like me" actually has a tattoo! Obviously I'm a very innocent looking person.

:New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn't make you spiritual. It's right above the crack of your ass. And it translates to "beef with broccoli." The last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren't pregnant. You're not spiritual. You're just high.

HAHAHAHA! Funny

I don't really get why someone would get a Chinese character tattoo when they have absolutely no connection to China or the language. I mean, I could understand an avid Firefly fan getting one as that makes a connection, but to get one just because it looks cool? I don't know... I mean, a tattoo is going to be on your body for the rest of your life! It stands to reason it should reflect something of your personality.

Funny, I got the kanji for "Strength of Heart" on my lower back over 15 years ago, before it was "cool." It was something that spoke to me for years, and after my parents died it felt right. I went through the death of my parents, the loss of my health...everything in the space of a year. And I survived.

Yeah, you went through a really awful time before you got that one, didn't you? I remember you posting about it before. "Strength of Heart" sums it up nicely I think.

I vaguely remember someone else who recovered from a broken back asking what the kanji symbol for "unbreakable" was. They were planning on getting it tattooed on their back.

My girlfriend's engagement ring is an infinity symbol set with diamonds on a ring of square sapphires. It is stunning.
Husband is a math prof at UMD, she does some sort of mathy thing at Langley. (Since she works at Langley, I've never, ever gotten up the courage to ask her what she does. Not that she'd tell me, anyway.)

Yeah, that was a hellish year. It got better! :-)

My tattoo doesn't say Pork Fried Rice - lol.

I that's an urban myth...but anyone who get something like that tattooed on their body without researching it is an idiot who deserves to go through life with a chinese menu on their body. And possible deserves being struck from the gene pool.
