Good afternoon on a friday with bonanza dissappearing into the distance in my rear view mirror.

The sign on the roadside reads 'Hall of Power 35 days', it's not much but it's enough.

They 're good. Flattop is good. Besides, I had already done the math and was waiting for Flattop to post them. I always knew we could put up numbers like these. Xenites had Lucy Lawless b-day to celebrate. We just decided to go for 2K. Now on to 3K.

Edit: this was in answer to a comment in a post that is not there anymore. Me slow typer.

Sorry for that error...yes voting for a "cancelled" tv show on a meaningless poll....but don't ALL shows get cancelled eventually? I estimate that at least 500 of the 200,000+ are my votes...makes me feel good, even if it's meaningless.

Anybody else get the impression that the Xenites have finally realized that we're coming for them? They put on the steam to get to 250k, but they didn't start putting up the staggeringly large numbers until we started to look like a real challenge.

The disturbing thing to me is that we beat the all time high, they break it. Then do it again the very next day. We did great to get 2k+ but it looks like they can realistically get 3k+. Guess that's what happens when your show ran 6 years. I suppose we should be happy that our 14-episode stub of a season can compete with a 6-season collusus.

I don't think we should start getting depressed until they show they can sustain these numbers.

Right now they've got no goal to shoot for: They're #1, in the hall of fame, and already breaking all records. Lucy Lawless's birthday is over, and they (belatedly) broke the 2K goal that they had for that date. All they have to look forward to is a constant never-ending fight to stay ahead.

The shape of their graph kind of looks like it's the first half of a semicircle to me and close to its peak. They put on a massive push, true, but they achieved that with specific goals in mind that they've now met. Each of the bumps in their weekly average graph seems to go down again afterwards faster and lower than the prior one did.

We, on the other hand, have shown a long-term push and our numbers just keep steadily increasing. We've shown that we can take a long term goal like catching Bonanza, and achieve it.

Xena could prove to be an unbeatable target, but I wouldn't be throwing in the towel just yet.

Yes, but unlike Bonanza, the Xenites have the numbers to keep us at bay indefinitely. Don't forget that when they make a concerted push, they get near 3,000 votes. That's nearly a thousand more than we get when we make a concerted push. Now, it may be the case that with the 250k goal behind them, and the 2k goal behind them, their numbers will drop. But I got to think that their voter base is going to act differently with us as #2 than they did with Bonanza @ #2. Bonanza was never going to beat them, but we look like a real challenger. So how do we get the voter base to challenge them? That's the real question. Alliances? Recruitment on FFF.net?

Isn't that what we're all in for? A never ending fight? Personally, I'm not going to get depressed, but I'm very interested to see how the numbers continue to play out and hopefully we can hold over 2K and xenites cannot.

Hooray for BSG's numbers!!! I absolutely love that show and I'm glad its still moving up (pissed that they're won't be new eps until 2008 though... ).

I'm not sure I see it that way. When they make a concerted push, they get massive numbers, and then drop straight back down to nearly (or below) where they were before.

When we make a concerted push, our numbers go up... and STAY there. Yes, they've made some BIG pushes, but they haven't had sustained, steady growth like we have, and we haven't had dropoffs from our peaks as long or steep as they have.

Slow and steady wins the race.

come to think of it...that show REALLY SUCKED!!! It was stupid & lame & absurd...WHAT WAS THERE TO LIKE ABOUT IT? BAD ACTING, BAD HISTORY, BAD EVERYTHING?..YES, it MUST be on Lesbian web sites all over the world...not just Xena fandom.

If this is the case, maybe we should recommend that Xenites watch War Stories. All those scenes with Innara and the Counciler. That would get them voting for us...or at least they might be in their bunks.

That is indeed the real question, and has been, in my mind from the get go. They appear to be more emotionally and fanatically dedicated to making Xena the best in any and all polls that they set their sights on. This was alluded to a while back by Stormcat, our friendly neighborhood Xena fan, in one of the older threads. What we need is that same drive from our end. Not only more voters, but voters who believe this is worth the effort and will be as relentless as the Xenites appear to be. I believe we can compete. This is just the type of challenge that Browncoats are famous for. Doing the impossible.

As to whether they'll let up on the voting I ask you this: Would you?

Wow... almost 3k. The Xenites must have some impressive ranks. By far, that is the best Firefly vote which tells me we either stepped it up a notch or we got quite a few new voters. What ever the case may be, its still impressive.

There goes the 2K barrier - easy wasn't it Next target is 3K, it too will be beaten, as will 4K.... - we are so many.

Beating Xena is our ultimate goal but remember, the journey is the worthier part. Lets enjoy the ride and take it one step at a time. I expect the Xenites, like Bonanza, will put up maximum resistance, they will not surrender top spot without a fight. We will not pass them by relying on their vote dropping, the onus is on us to increase our vote.

Whenever/wherever I have an internet connection, I'll be voting.

Way I figure, we Browncoats have the numbers capable of pulling in 5K a day - hell even 10K is not impossible. IIRC, The Signal has about 6000 subscribers to its podcast (great show btw), and if each of these people voted just once a day......

We have the numbers, its a matter of getting the word out & convincing people to vote.

Alliances are great, but not binding. They're more of a *kindred spirit* arrangement, if you like the other show vote for it, if not.....

I'm thinking we picked up a bunch of one (or maybe two) time voters from the plg on Week in Whedon. Those folk aren't aware of our friendly arrrangement.
I'm voting for Lexx (loved it when I saw it!) as regularly as I do Firefly.

Maybe some of the Bonanzai will lend us a hand now to help push /somebody/ (us) past Xena? Hey they're western, we're western...

When we make a concerted push, our numbers go up... and STAY there. Yes, they've made some BIG pushes, but they haven't had sustained, steady growth like we have, and we haven't had dropoffs from our peaks as long or steep as they have.

Well, after they hit the 250k mark, their numbers started dropping by about 150 per day. But then they put this push to get 2k, and have put up the big numbers again. I hear what you're saying, and you're right: they haven't been able to sustain like we've sustained. But my point is this: if this is how they act just to get to a milestone, how hard will they push if we manage to close within 10k of them? In other words, if they'll get near 3k just for LL's birthday, their voters are like to come out of the woodwork to keep that first spot. But please: prove me wrong. Hell, nobody wants me to be wrong more than me.

Just a thought--maybe we could try shuffling the name of the thread around. When you're used to seeing similarly named threads, you just stop seein' 'em, if you take my meaning. E.g., I'm not one of the Imponderablers, so I hardly even notice their threads. Maybe if we mixed things up on that front, we'd recruit some more. Also, adding a line to your signature about voting for Firefly might raise awareness.

Can you imagine how many votes that would generate for both? Just enough to get us all even. I'd like to see the voting if we were all neck and neck. I'm talking ludicrous numbers here. Then it would really be a fair contest.

Hopefully we'll get more recruits and be hitting around 3k, so if Xena do charge again we'll be able to fight.

Even if, IF Xenites go back to their 700-900 daily votes, we should still keep recruiting, spreading the word and hitting the big numbers. We kind of got caught with our tight-pants down last time when Xenites jumped from 700 to 1300 all of a sudden, let's not make the same mistake twice.
