Simon's sister is a place mat. They had a complicated childhood.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

They weren't looking only for Simon and River, they were looking for anything that could bring charges against the crew. Drugs? Extra money? Something small and flat. Every inch got tossed, after all.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

I think it was just the whole complete disrespect thing.

But just think - someone had to look in the septic system...

They were pretty embarrassed, too. They came out all flushed.

yeah, and mal never washes his hands with soap. what's that about? living in confined quarters, one would think hygiene is pretty important. but then again, maybe that's why they have so much immunity supplements in the future.
i always thought whenever they landed, the septic tank would just get dumped too. maybe that costs extra?

When I saw that ep where he splashes his face right after going to the bathroom.I was grossed out.
But then I tought well its a space ship im sure they are low on water. Plus once you've been to war im sure little things like germs really dont bother you as much.

Seriously, the troops would have been in big trouble if it had turned out that the placemats were covering the panel that opened the secret compartment where the fugitives were hiding....

and one has to wonder why that reaver/survivor goes back to the common area... cause that's where the place mats were.
