That sounds so cool!!!

Did you see this? http://www.fireflyfans.net/feature.asp?f=64

Or, if you wait, I imagine there'll be some good shots of it in Volume 2 of the official Companion, due out May 8th.

Don't forget to show us a picture when you're done!

Super project! Best of luck to you, and
I'm sure you'll get lots of help here, too.

In one of the commentaries it is said that
Kaylee did the stenciled designs. Now we
may not be able to ask Kaylee where she got
the stencils but it's a hint that the stencils
may be available. Or if not, perhaps someone
has copied the pattern...

If you can't make your own screencaps to help
in doing the color and design work, maybe a
friend can cap some of the best scenes for
you.

This thread from the virtual Firefly forums should help: http://www.stillflying.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=578

Tis a tour around Serenity's kitchen using deckplans and screencaps and stuff.

Good luck with the project! Sounds truely amazing and inspiraring and don't forget the little flowers along the edges!!

I don't know if it would be that specific pettern, but I remember Michael's having a whoooole lot of stencils for wall painting when I worked there. I'd check there or at a similar craft suply store.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

the floral designs are a typical American folk art technique.
can't offer a name, e.g.," these are the Acme water Lillies from Godey's, Oct 1860," but if I was looking for 'em , I'd try Handbook of Ornament. it's a standard reference for designers. I have a copy of my own, inaccessible at the moment, but it should be available at any large-ish public library.
I looked it up online, it's available from Amazon.com, paperback, at less than $ 10. Author Franz Sales Meyer.

Also a link there to something called 2286 Traditional Stencil Designs, by some one named Roessing, published by Dover Books. sounds like it's right down that alley.

and Dover Books has an entire library of similar titles-- try a library or an art supply store.

I wonder , will you get the airliner galley carts and lockers from surplus ? Where are you located ? May be able to find this stuff near where you live , depending...

Also , here's a photo , early publicity shot...You got this one ? The color scheme is VERY 'Late 60's', early 70's , 'Harvest Gold' + 'Avocado'; indeed , my impression of the entire ship was that the color scheme could have been lifted from any TV show of the period , particularly the 'family' series' or sitcoms...

You'll get a lot of ideas from re-watching the episodes , and subsequently finding the corresponding stills from the screencaps at 'stillflying.net' .

One more thing...Ya can't call it ' the kitchen ' anymore...From now on , it's the galley .
