Briefly update me on the status of Firefly

Thank you :) I heard about the Firefly series somehow, it was months ago. Maybe a year. I decided to get them, watch them and as all of you know, I was in awe. What a great series.
Just finished watching the movie, after dragging it as long as I could, since I knew that was the last bit of Firefly. Maybe forever.

I have long thought about if any news happened about the future of the series, can you somehow update me if there has been anything since it got cancelled?
Any hope, any words from Josh himself or?

I suppose it is at a complete stand-still, no hopes of anything yet? I don't get it, there are so many bad series out there, even some of the same genre but at a much lower quality.
I don't see why Firefly's qualities seems to be neglected or not seen by the money men :(

Buffy and Angel just isn't the same, it might be good quality too, but it isn't the same genre. That was what made me click about Firefly. That is what I can't find anything else to satisfy me with...

Joss is currently writing the second series of comic books. That's all we know. Everything else is at a bit of a standstill, yes. We're still holding the line for the next movie! (it will happen it will happen it will it will it will happen) But have heard nothing official.

My thoughts,

Joss needs a break from working so hard on the Wonder Women script. Which I am sure was brillant!

It is all up to us. We need to keep introducing people to 'The Verse'. The Dvd sales are still high. We need to keep the suits attention.

Last I heard was Joss wanted to but Universal hasn't asked him yet for a Serenity 2.

But I am sure it will happen someday.

So was the first series based upon before-written comics too? If so, it is a good first step. Important for whoever to look at, before they decide if it is worth investing in.

I sure hope for another series! More than a film, though that would be fine too :)

As to the comics, no, the show came first. There is a series of comics called 'Those Left Behind' that were put out after the series but before the movie. And take place after the series but before the movie. If you want more Firefly, go pick up the little graphic novel; it's a mildly soothng salve for that itch. 'Better Days' should see the first comic coming out some time this year. The local comic shop doesn't have a pre-order date for it yet, but it should be coming...
