"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Twentieth Century Fox"

Just saw that some Firefly vids on You-tube now have this message and we can longer watch some of our favorite clips.

For example, the extended Bloopers are gone.

Why did they wait this long to pull them?

I am sooooo glad I have the extended bloopers saved!

why did they wait? I dunno. A lot of people are going after youtube lately; maybe they hadn't thought about it before.

I don't know why they waited this long. However, I'm glad I saved the bloopers. Warner Bros has been doing the same thing with its videos on YouTube. All of them have been taken down.

I heard on Whedonesque that the extended gag reel was made specifically for the cast and crew. When you put it that way, it seems like it's more of a personal video. That being said, if it was posted on an open network like YouTube, shouldn't everyone have access to it? Just a thought.

I didn't save it from YouTube, I downloaded it from somewhere else. It might be too big, but if you wanna PM me your e-mail I could try to send it to you.

It is just interesting to me in that other FOX bloopers, such as the extended X-Files are still up.

Anyway, if you look at it another way, at least they are now paying attention to Firefly.

Money will always get the suits attention!

20th Century Fox and FOX the network are not the same thing.

Oops,

I meet 20th Century FOX.

As I understand it, they own the copyrights to TXF also.

Anyway, I just find it all interesting...that's all.

First get Firefox, then install UnPlug (just google unplug, it's the first one), then go to youtube and run unplug from the tools menu, then find the one that says "this is probably the one you want" underneath it.

The extended bloopers are on Google Videos, and they allow you to download it:

is the google one the same as the one that was on You Tube?

I too heard about this "crackdown" by studios... I think that also means that all the fan vids will soon go away if they are not already.. it is just a shame.. they are stifling creativity in some ways.. and the market will be poorer for it... I DO understand the copyright and all.. but there is a dynamic between protecting ones creation, and stifling other's creations.. and it is not as tho the vidders are making any $$$ they do it for love.. but perhaps Google/YouTube is another story...

Just a friendly warning, Fox are sueing someone who uploaded their TV episodes onto YouTube (who gave Fox details of his identity) so be careful when uploading.

I can't believe 20th Century Fox is pulling fanvids of Firefly from Youtube.
They're just fan videos of the show Firefly for crying out loud.
The more they're seen on Youtube, the more people become aware of the show and decide to buy the DVD boxed set in stores.
That would mean more money for the studios.
But what do they do?
They decide to go after the fans and forcefully remove their videos that praise and advertise the show which also benefits them.
Unbelievable.
How low and idiotic can a corporation get?

I am pretty sure that it is not ok to post about downloads here. I don't want Haken to get in trouble or for this board to get shutdown.

Emails is one thing. Posting on the board is another.

Happened to my Firefly fan video on Youtube, it's cause Google (owners of Youtube) are afraid people will sue them especially after Prince has tried to sue them about a week ago.

the reason people are going after youtube now and weren't before is because before they were a company in debt - like most online companies. Now they're owned by google there's a lot of money there to be had... so News Corp, who own Fox can wade in there with their laywers and have the vids pulled or have a hope of making some money out of the whole thing

rather than playing the slightly longer game and green-lighting another series. Which would be watched by serious numbers.

someone should send them a copy of the story about the goose that laid the golden egg... (and then cancelled it)
