It's Mandarin they speak (or try to speak ) in FF, yes?

Yes, with one exception.

In "Out of Gas", the automated voice that says "Warning! Life Support Malfunction!" (or the equivalent) repeats the warning in Cantonese. This was an unintentional mixup due to using a fill-in translator.

*Darn! I thought this was gonna be a thread about Olympic track & field athletes from Beijing.*

By the way, my nephew has lived and worked in China and speaks Chinese pretty well for a barbarian. According to him, Mandarin IS Chinese. Any other dialect isn't. And he also says that "try to speak" is a good way to put it.

I'm pointin' right at it!

Well, I recently got a car with a CD player and I've been getting books on CD for my son and I to listen to while we're in the car (he LOVED Animal Farm, we're listening to Star Wars Ep III right now with Brave New World on deck) and my library carries language CDs. They have Mandarin and Cantonese on CD, so I thought I'd give one a shot. I just needed to know which one!

Sorry my post's not about the Olympics. But I do have a cousin trying out for the US Rowing Team. Is that close enough?

Thanks for the info.
