"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

Okay, there's a bit of a lull in the action here (not by you though, DTH, so please don't take exception) so I'm going to do the catch up thing.

On execising and elipticals and treadmills and training rooms - I got my honey an eliptical and she swears by it. Me, I scared of anything with a flywheel that a) weighs more than I do; b) moves faster than I can; c) exists solely to resist me while trying to improve myself.

Google was recently named by Fortune magazine the number one place to work. Among the reasons left out of those listed below is something ridiculous like 8 onsite training rooms in the Googleplex.

Google Perks & Benefits
-Up to $8,000/year in tuition reimbursement
-On-site perks include medical and dental facilities, oil change and bike repair, valet parking, free washers and dryers, and free breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis at 11 gourmet restaurants
U-nlimited sick leave
-27 days of paid time off after one year of employment
-Global Education Leave program enables employees to take a leave of absence to pursue further education for up to 5 years and $150,000 in reimbursement.
-Free shuttles equipped with Wi-Fi from locations around the Bay Area to headquarter offices.
-Classes on a variety of subjects from estate planning and home purchasing to foreign language lessons in French, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin.
Why are we all working where we work? We need to go there and liberate this facility...

Near death experiences and depraved, self-aware household objects - Can't think of any off hand for myself. But I did find this:

About sickieness, these days I just megadose on fluids, sleep and if necessary slight meds. In the day however, there would be a list of demands to do the best kidnapper/hostage holder proud...

As for "packaging" let me dig out an observation I was going to make the other day.

And of course now you, dear DTH, with Nathan/Mal.

If'n a rose smelled of sheep dip and diamonds looks like raisins, would we care about them as much? Ah, the rose's fragrance is not part of it packaging and diamond's cut is part of its value. The boxes that bring them to us is the packaging. So if the rose or the diamond came in a Broke Box Mounting, no discount offered, or something pristine, which would we choose?

DTH- Nathan's "package" is considerably lower down than that...you need to fine tune your targeting

Sandman comics- MisterG is a fan and in fact he has a hand drawn pen and ink from the artist of Death and Dream together ( about a year before they ever appeared together in a comic) which he treasures. The artist drew it for him as a request:)

Long meeting over wheeeeee!

Hallelujah! The meeting is over! Missed you, little Ms.

Everything I've heard about The Sandman is good, good, good. But I have yet to dive in myself.

Nathan's package? I'm not touching that. Literally.

If I have to pay the same price for the craptastic packaging over something pristine wouldn't I be stupid to chose the craptastic one?

Now, if there is a discount involved...gimme the crap.

OMG! That is hilarious. And also frightening. I want nothing to do with Nathan's package if he's wearing that get up...and he's one I wouldn't kick out of bed.

But what's the benefit of the packaging that is merely going to be ripped up and tossed in the garbage as soon as you get him, er, it home?

Or put it another way. If man-whore Nathan in Wonder Woman suit offered a discount, his being a transvestite wouldn't matter to you?

But what about Adam in a Catwoman outfit?

And yes even though I'm pursuing this line of questioning, Nathan and Adam's packages are both safe. Precautions have been taken.

Um, nope. I have no interest in man-whore/transvestite Nathan in a Wonder Woman suit. Nathan in a wonder woman suit is only slightly more appealing. I might take the later with a discount. The former? NEVER.

Packaging does mean a lot...if all else is equal. Who cares that I'm going to rip it up and toss it out? It's pretty..or intriguing...or whatever.

Intuitively we all know packaging makes a difference, just think about attraction. Let's take Charlize Theron, for example. A beautiful woman. Compare the package she was in for Monster with the one she was in for, say, Aeon Flux. Given the choice, which package do you want? The inside is still the same.

Sandman is, I think, the first comic my brother ever told me to buy, and it is phenomenal. The first few issues are a bit rough, as they were just starting out, but the whole story is wonderful. But I adore Neil, so I could be a tad biased.

As for suggested reading, well, that depends on what you like. I could ramble on and on about comics, for I am a comic book fangrrl, but I'll spare you that tedium. I could give you a list of what I like and why, but I worry that it doesn't really belong in this thread. If you're really interested... um... I suppose you could email me or I could infiltrate your "Civil War" thread with non-Civil War stuff. *shrug*

Loving Amazing Spider-Man. Loving it to bits. I totally didn't realise that it was JMS of Babylon 5 fame who was writing the comics!
I started picking those up when JMS first started his run, but never actually read more than a few issues. If you don't know, JMS has also written a bunch of other pretty good comics; Midnight Nation and Rising Stars are a couple of the ones I enjoyed.

Oh, dear, sweet NV... don't get me started on Cowboy Bebop, for I fear I may not stop. I believe it is truly my favourite series of all time; it evokes more passion in me than just about anything else I can think of. I hope you do rent it and enjoy it. (I freakishly recommend watching that series with the original Japanese voices / English subtitles; the English "voice actors" sound way too cartoonish, and I feel it really takes away from the whole story... but... um... I could be a little... um... crazy. About the series.)

I've never seen this "Kill Bill" of which you speak.

Heh, this "love" of which I spoke...? The man means more to me than most people ever will. He's brilliant, hilarious, supportive, and stood by me and helped me through some really rough times. I actually cried at his retirement dinner (and it was a nice send-off; the TIP alone, on top of the automatic 18% gratuity, was over $800). I miss him tremendously.

It sounds like you were really sick. You haven't eaten much for 2 days? That doesn't sound good. Hopefully you will start to feel better when you eat some of that food that you bought.

I think I should go to my.space, so that I could see a little bit more of you. It sounds like you're having a good time over there. I started a site when Nathan signed on, but I haven't added anything to mine. It looks pretty bare.

Ha ha you are insane. But sweet. So it evens out.

By the by, I'm still working on pictures with my sisters, as promised.

So... you just take it out and play with it from time to time... do you?

Why, yes! Better than neglecting it, don't you think?

Sympathies about your migraines, Magda.

(One of the many reasons we play with hearts like the one above is to help reduce and eliminate migraine headaches. One patient even came to work recently to thank us after his successful procedure! It's things like that that make me not absolutely hate everything about my job. Geez, I'm really rambling lately. Must stop that....)

I thought as much...

Seriously though, thanks - I was really down about the migraines today and you guys always manage to make me feel good again! I appreciate that if I sent my heart to you, Hells Kitten, you could do something to it and send it back to me and I wouldn't get any more migraines... you are awesome!! (don't tell anyone I got soppy and sentimental with you or I'll... I'll... I'll think of something!)

Hello my wonderful Penguin! sorry it's not at all imaginative to just give you a standard kiss, but at least I get to give you a kiss and say goodnight without having to open up my Photobucket!

And with that I am off to bed... 'tis 4am...

Are you kidding? I'd shout it from the rooftops if it weren't so frakkin' cold outside! And, um, the ice is a little menacing, too.

Anyway, YES, I fix hearts. Heh. Which is quite possibly the most ironic thing in the world.

Just a guess, but are you afraid of having your soul captured by the camera lens and everyone with a picture of you has power over you?

Um, hmm. Maybe I could have found a better picture.

JQ… is there something you want to share with the class? Hmm?

So, my question is, how important is Packaging to you when you make a purchase? Does appearance affect quality in your perception?

If it’s pretty, and pretty cheap (without being expired, moldy, or dented and such), then maybe – although there are certain brands we buy because they’re trusted [and mayonnaise isn’t mayonnaise unless it’s Hellman’s… or Best Foods (except they both come from Hellman’s; what’s up with that?)], even though they may be more expensive. Those items are few and far between. Otherwise, it’s all about being cost-effective. And, y’know, it tastes good, so I don’t care.

It was good to see you too.

Edit: Along the lines of Magda's response to me, here's this little story. So, it was Target, a week or more before Christmas, and I had in my possession the Firefly box set (which I gave to my friend, along with Serenity, and she totally wigged out ). Then, I get into line to buy it, and the checkout number one over had recently been vacated.

The older woman working said checkout number said, "I can help you over here, honey."

There's just something about nice people calling me honey, sweetie, etc. that makes me fuzzy on the inside.

Good night dear Penguin!
Sleep well wonderful you - and I am so glad the vibes helped!!

Oh how wonderful Yin Yang - I agree! I say it in all sincerity as I think the people here are among the lovliest, sweetest, dearest folk I have ever come across! Thanks again Sweetie!

Hey Odds!! It is so wonderful to see you around here more often!! I missed my Jailbait when you were still 'squatting' and flat hunting... does this mean you are in a good place for a good while now?

Hell's Kitten... I'm warning you! You'll make me... you'll get me to... Gorramn it! I really have to work on my threatening attitude... don't I?

See you all later!
