Now that Nathan and Jewel are on MySpace, I suspect that any Browncoat without an account is in the process of joining up :). Clearly we need a way to decorate our MySpace pages with daily quotes from Firefly and Buffy...

After a long weekend of computer programming, I'm happy to announce BrownQuote MySpace edition is now available! Go to http://brownquote.com/firefly.html and choose "Add to MySpace" on the page that opens. You can also see how it looks by visiting http://myspace.com/brownquote . If you run into any problems, feel free to post a note on this thread.

Update! Quotes also work on LiveJournal profiles (thanks Nancy)!

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Shiny! I almost considered possibly maybe making a MySpace page just to use it!

Nice job! Although I can lurk on MySpace I can't conjure the cojones to actually join.

I've always thought it was for pedophiles, 12 year-old girls, and Feds posing as 12 year-old girls. Let the bashing of me begin.

I know this is a completely and an utterly wrong assumption, I just can't get past it. (even though I wanna post!)

Oh well, sorry guys, still top notch work.

I did too, but I got one just to read Nathan's blogs and now, after 2 months, I have 15 friends and 127 profile looksee

I must be horribly boring except that Nathan, Jewel and James Gunn are among my friends.

MySpace has it's share of FEDs and 12 year old girls, that much is for sure. I do my best to avoid both of them. Trust me when I say that it is much harder to avoid the 12 year old girls that pose as FEDs, rather than the other way around. Talk about entrapment!

They've also got eleventy billion advertisements now that everybody finally jumped on the bandwagon and ruined MySpace, just like they ruin everything else like Adult Swim, Rock music and the Internet in general. Remember the days when there was no such thing as a "pop-up ad", let alone adware and spyware? Yeah... that's what they did to MySpace too. They made it a no-good, dirty 80's hair band.

MySpace is a sad and lonely place for sad and lonely people.

Wow! Thanks! This is most shiny. I've added it on to my page and now I just log on to MySpace to see what Firefly quote I'll get. I also first joined because of Nathan and now there's Jewel also! Now if only Adam will join, that'll be the icing on my cake!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the nice posts !

For all the MySpace haters in the audience , I wanted to let you know that the MySpace version of BrownQuote appears to also work in LiveJournal.

In fact it should work in any service that supports user HTML code (even blogs). If you get quotes up anywhere new, post a message here to let everyone know!

(Though, I can't help but point out that Monty's last name is not Reynolds as far as I know...)

I noticed that too. Although I can't remember if Monty had a last name so I guess it could be Reynolds. Maybe when the Firefly The Official Companion 2 comes out soon, it will be in the script.

Feel free to send friend requests my way and also to whitenoisethelight and ilovemycaptain2

Brownquote of the Day

On Live Journal it shows in your Profile page - which not many people see very often. Dunno if there's a way to get it to show on the main page - has anyone any suggestions? It's a cool idea!

Gill needs some suggestions. Anybody have suggestions on how to do that.

Hi Anonymous1,

Thanks for the heads up - I didn't realize that BrownQuote made Whedonesque :). Can someone who is registered on the site post the following as a comment? Thanks!

@Gill
If you have a *paid* account on LiveJournal, you can go to "My LJ" > "Customize the look of your journal" > "Custom Options" > "Components" and then paste the codes from the BrownQuote LiveJournal page into the "Free Text Component" box. Finally set "Enable Free Text" (on the same screen) to "Yes", hit the "Save Changes" button and you're good to go. Quotes will now show up next to your journal.

@Cider
You can change one of the BrownQuotes on Google to show Buffy quotes by clicking the edit link at the top of the box.

Hi Mavourneen,

I just created an account on serenitymovie.org to test it out, but it doesn't look like the site supports html in profiles . Maybe something to bug the site's owner about?
