Just saw it last night and I am here to tell you that I wasnt suprised at all when it just plain sucked. Their big claim to fame this season is letterboxing. Ok, wow! Widescreen CRAP!

Yes, I am still amazed that crap like AnDUMeDUH can be out there and Firefly isnt.

The fact that stuff like Andromeda continues when Firefly is cancelled makes baby Jesus cry, I think. I've yet to have it explained to me as to what's so damn good about Andromeda in the first place. Every time I've tried to watch it, it's all been Kevin Sorbo starring as Kevin Sorbo and stock sci-fi cliches.

I'm just bitter, I guess.

I do watch Andromeda, but it has become a bit of a no-brain show recently. I think there was some serious decline in season three.

Plus, was it just me, or did nearly every episode of season three have Dylan seducing a female guest star. I mean, why do all these women find Dylan so attractive?!

I much prefer Harper. They should give Harper more to do - it would be a much better show then!

And I'm not quite sure how they're going to fill the gap left by Tyr's departure. Bringing back Rhade doesn't really work for me....

It's just scandalous that Andromeda is still on the air while Firefly has been cancelled. And while we're on the subject - what about Mutant X? How is that still going?!

Book: “A duel?”
Wash: “With swords?”
Simon: “The Captain's a good fighter, he must know how to handle a sword?”
Zoe: “I think he knows which end to hold.”

*sigh* I'm gonna cry now... Andromeda is a big fat example of a good show that got totally bastardized... I stopped watching after the first episode of season 3 *mourns*

Oh how I long for the days of Angel Dark Demon Bright and It Makes a Lovely Light.

I agree 100%. I tried, really tried to watch Andromeda. (plus it's gorram annoying trying to spell it)I just could not do it. And they have Action Figues!!! I have major issue with that. I even tried writing to the company that made them and they said they had no intention now or ever of making such a product. Mal could take out Dylan in a second, He just might need Zoe & Jayne's help. Although I don't think Dylan would have lasted one bloody gorram centar (attempt at a Galactica reference) in Niska's chamber. I guess, I'm just bitter-er.

Just my opinion but I personally think "if" Jesus had to choose a favorite Sci-Fi, it would have been Firefly. Any argument??? OK then.

Heck, he would have picked Pigs in Space over Andromeda (Oh, I hate spelling that!)

Mal: “See how I'm not punching him? I think I've grown!”

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I really liked the 1st season of Andromeda. The 2nd season was okay, but then the 3rd season went downhill fast. I watched the season 4 opener, and was not very impressed.

I agree the show had a lot of potential, but it seems like they rushed it too much. I mean come on, they went from no Commonwealth, to a full blown Commonwealth from one season to the next. Did they not have the storyline planned out?

I will not be tuning in anymore.

Ok, this is a decent enough thread for this.

I started watching Firefly because of a school project. I had to watch four TV shows and talk about the types of commercials that were aired on each, and the stereotyping and ethnic portrayls on it. (Major BS, I know). Anyway, I chose to do four Sci-Fi shows: Andromeda, Enterprise, Firefly, and MST3K. I had been watching Enterprise's first season for a while, and MST3K's always been one of my favorite shows. Anyway, I saw both Andromeda and FF for the first time and I have to say, one blew me away and the other just plain sucked. (You can guess which.) I wrote just pages and pages summarizing Firefly's greatness and never even did a synopsis for Andromeda or Enterprise. The sheer fact that Andromeda is still running while Firefly got cancelled makes me believe in Hank Parnell's "Firefly Conspiracy". In conclusion, Andromeda sucks, Firefly's great, and yet another amazing miscarraige of Justice has been carried out by the Fox Network.

Firefly was original.

Trek is *anything* but original, as they just use the same plots they've been using since 1968 over and over and over again, endlessly recycled with minor details changed...
Any trek is... well.. drek.
(if you don't get that one, I ain't explainin it to ya.)

Andromeda is falling into the same craptrap, and has rapidly become so completely awful I don't even bother with it, especially now that the only character who made it worth the bother is gone.

Question for the masses tho - since universal now holds the rights to firefly, can they not run show on UPN ? maybe not the old eps, if Fox still owns those (not sure on that, since what I know about that kinda law wouldn't fill a thumble..) but you think we can apply any pressure on Universal to get SOMETHING (even a making-of, or somesuch) running, FF-wise, on UPN ?

Just a thought,

Hey, yeah, what if we could get them to show the three unaired eps? That would be sweet! Sure, they'd get NO ratings, but hell, i'd be able to tape them!

UPN is a paramount owned and operated company they will never air Firefly. they have ent and are actually happy with it.

WB is Warner brothers so no chance their either

FOX sucks and screwed the show so I dont think it'll come back their.

ABC is Disney and Miramax I believ. I could be wrong about the Mir part.

Just so you know their is the chance to get Firefly aire on NBC which has a deal with Universal. I doubt it will wind up their but we can hope. If it did move to NBC what time and day should it air and why.

Oh ya! NBC the people that killed the original trek and showed other networks how to strangle a show (10 pm EST Fridays if memory serves me for the last season.

But then again, maybe it is time to atone for that sin.

Simply put, there is no good acting talent on Andromeda. It sucked from the beginning and isnt getting any better.

No matter which actor is handed a large script, it is still going to suck. The only marginally watchable episodes were the ones with Tony Todd (I cannot recall the title) and the one where Radhe was the one to take over the ship, again not memorable enough to recall the title.

The reason for Andromeda and Mutant X still being on the air? Look at the backing for both shows. One of the big names is: The Tribune company.

From their website:

"Tribune Broadcasting owns and operates 24 television stations concentrated in major markets and Superstation WGN on national cable. The acquisition of two additional stations, KPLR-TV, St. Louis, and KWPB-TV, Portland, Ore., will be completed in early 2003, pending regulatory approvals. The group’s combined reach is more than 80 percent of U.S. television households. Investment interests include The WB Television Network (22%) and TV Food Network (31%). Los Angeles-based Tribune Entertainment develops and distributes first-run television programming for the Tribune station group and for national syndication. Tribune Broadcasting also owns and operates Chicago’s WGN-AM and the Chicago Cubs baseball team .

TRIBUNE (NYSE: TRB) is one of the country’s premier media companies, operating businesses in broadcasting, publishing and on the Internet. It reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. households, and is the only media company with television stations, newspapers and Web sites in the nation’s top three markets. In publishing, Tribune operates 12 market-leading daily newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday plus a wide range of targeted publications including Spanish-language newspapers. In broadcasting, Tribune properties include 24 television stations and Superstation WGN on national cable. The acquisition of two additional stations, KPLR-TV, St. Louis, and KWPB-TV, Portland, Ore., will be completed in early 2003, pending regulatory approvals. These publishing and broadcasting interests are complemented by high-traffic news and information Web sites in 18 of the nation’s top 30 markets."

How many of the stations (in the U.S.A.) that Andromeda and Mutant X are broadcast on also owned by Tribune?

Also, look at the timeslots for both shows. If they were put up against any real shows, they wouldnt last a week. At least they are aired (Like a nasty wet fart) here in the Chicago area.

Remember "Earth: Final Conflict"? Another one with major Tribune backing. First season was interesting at best, rarely exciting. After that, down the toilet. Pure crap.

There may have been a reason why they found those partial treatments (For Andromeda and EFC) in Roddnberry's old files. Maybe even HE knew they were crap!

Also, Andromeda is written by committee. There lies the lack of any real continuity.
Examples:
Did we ever learn what happened to Tyr's bone spurs? NOPE! How did Tyr turn into such a whiny little simp? Again, no explanation.

Screw the "Belch and Fart" network (Fox) for capping Firefly. If Firefly had the backing of the Tribune Company, it would still be running, but it would suck as well.

Back when NBC killed Star Trek, it was actually because of low ratings. Back then many people actually stayed home and watched television instead of going out. Star Trek didnt start getting hugely popular until years later in syndication, as well as the Saturday Morning animated series. No real comparison at all between Firefly and Star Trek.

In defence of Andromeda, I actually think Gordon Michael Woolvett is excellent. If they only let him have all the screen time rather than Kevin Sorbo, they'd have a much better show on their hands!

I watch scifi compulsively, good and bad. Very few are so bad I switch the channel. Andromeda sneaks by. I am watching as we speak and this episode is not so bad.

The worst ever was Earth Final Conflict. I just couldn't stand it. There have been a few others that were so bad I seem to have expelled them from my memory.

The worst mini-series was TAKEN. I suffered through every segment and every segment sucked

Oh, I gave up on Taken when Eric Close left. Though I've been told that he returned later on and I missed it. Darn it!
