TRISTAN

Greetings! This is the discussion thread for the newly-formed 76th Independent Battalion. We are planning on marching in the DragonCon parade as a Battalion of Independent soldiers.

A few updates.

RiverIsMyGoddess is the officer-in-charge of the Medical branch of the 76th.

Nicodemus has been promoted to Corporal, and will be handling the Demolitions branch of the 76th.

ChrisMoorhead has been promoted to Lieutenant for various contributions to the 76th.

And a dedicated message board (signup is required)

We have a patch!

I'll see if I can get all of the relevant data in this first post...

The question of our history has been brought up and discussed in past threads. To end any debate and possible confusion, we now have one person tasked with the history of the 76th. DocJubal is now the "official historian" of the 76th. We decided it would be prudent to have ONE version of events, that way there is not the possibility of confusing or conflicting storylines. We ask everyone that has ideas about the history of 76th, that you not just post it on the threads. If you do have something you would like to add, contact DocJubal.

Also, to prevent any single post from being taken as a new rule for the 76th, BWTP or myself will post the new "rule". That way, there will be no confusion. We will have discussions on subjects, but when the decision has been made, we will officially post it. I hope that will clear up any confusion. For the most part, everything in the first post of each of these threads are the rules so far.

We have agreed that it is important to be at least somewhat uniform in appearance...vests, coat or smock, helmet, and weapon will be the same for each trooper...at least close in pants, shirts, and boots. There are two basic uniforms that we can see, and have broken them down as follows:

Type A...basically use Mal as a model. The major item of this uniform is the long coat.

This "uniform" consists of the following:
*Pants with brown stripes up the sides of the legs--links to acceptable choices will be listed later in the thread.
*An undershirt. You can wear just about anything brown or black, preferably long-sleeved, button-ups are acceptable, it does not need to have a collar
*The red vest that I have designed. I will offer these for sale or I will offer the pattern to those that would like to make their own. This pattern should not be modified except to make it fit you or the person you are making it for. There is a specific color and fabric that will be used...SLIGHT variations are allowable, but I will send fabric swatches with each pattern.
*Boots. These will be discussed later in the thread.
*The overcoat that I have designed. I will offer these for sale or I will offer the pattern to those that would like to make their own This pattern should not be modified except to make it fit you or the person that you are making it for. There is a specific color and fabric that will be used...SLIGHT variations are allowable, but I will send fabric swatches with each pattern. This coat has been approved, and will be THE coat for the 76th. This is being done to prevent everyone from showing up wearing different cuts and colors of coat.
*Scarf--these will also be discussed later in the thread
*Helmet or head-covering depending upon your "job" within the 76th.

Type B....use Zoe as a model. The vest is worn over a smock-type tunic, and the mail sleeves are visible.

*The "smock" that is worn underneath the red vest. As the war progressed, these undertunics became worn and torn. Seeing as we are a newly-formed unit, I will be designing a smock as if they are new. I do not yet have a pattern for this, but I am working on it and will post photos as they become available.
*Mail sleeves. ArtCat is making a set to be used as a model, and she has offered to make these for us, and has also linked the site where she got the pattern. This will be discussed later in the thread.
*Scarf--these will also be discussed later in the thread
*Helmet or head-covering depending upon your "job" within the 76th.

Both types of uniform can be worn by anyone. The Type A uniform is not reserved for the officers and the Type B uniform is not reserved for the Enlisted.

Rather than cram the first post of the threads with photos, I have removed the "Other photos from the series" line here. If anyone would rather I put it back, let me know.

Pants-- A similar pair that most of the soldiers seem to have worn can be found here:
http://www.wwmerc.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=CM83&type=store&catego
ry=3930

In searching for a female "version" of these pants on wwwmerc.com, this is the link I was given: http://www.wwmerc.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=CM83&type=store&catego
ry=4140

This is an acceptable alternative for the female recruits. It appears to be the same product as the male, though.
Another alternative has been found by Quandom and is located here:
http://www.blockaderunner.com/Catalog/catpg14.htm
BoomerGoodheart found yet another alternative here:
http://jas-townsend.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_4&products_id=461

Any of the above pants will work. It will be necessary to add a dark brown stripe down the sides.

Vest:
Tristan is designing one now:

I have decided to go with the simple three-line pattern to make the vest more generic as well as quicker and easier to construct.
These should be available for purchase beginning in February. For those that want the pattern and a cloth swatch to match, email me and I will get those to you in February as well.

Overcoat and "smock".
Tristan is currently working on a pattern for both the overcoat and for the smock worn under the vest for those opting for the mail sleeves.

Overcoat--This is the final pattern for the Type A coat. I will be experimenting with at least one other type of cloth to get the right "look" and feel of the final coat. To those who decide to make their own using this pattern, SLIGHT variations in color are allowable. If you want a copy of the pattern when I am ready to release it, please email me. I will also include a swatch of the fabrics I have used. There is not a commercially available version of this coat anywhere, but it is the pattern the 76th will be using. I will make coats for those that want them, and offer the pattern to those that either want to make one themselves, or know someone that can. I have not yet fixed a price, but they will be $100.00 or less. I did not start this with the idea of making money, but of making a good-looking, solid army of Independents...so the coats will be as close to "at-cost" as I can keep them.

Mail Sleeves:
Artcat is testing out these directions http://upstagereview.org/CostumesArticles/Chainmail.pdf and will be making chainmail sleeves on a limited basis, possibly making a make your own sleeves kit available if there is enough interest.

A complete description and more pictures of the sleeves can be found here:
http://76thbattalion.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=uniform&action=di
splay&thread=1166804211

Helmet/Head Covering:
BabyWithThePower has found an inexpensive Russian helmet that looks very good:
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/LEG140-1717-1818.html
They are currently back in stock, so feel free to order one.
Roon located a source for US helmets:
http://armynavyplus.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/Store/c-Surplus.html?L+sc
store+ktrr6920ffee41ee+1166637956

Both of these helmets are close enough in resemblance to be used, so either one is acceptable for the 76th.
BrownCoat1 is also looking at a local surplus store for US helmets.
Soft headgear addendum to the Uniform Basics:
The XO located some good-looking "flydanas"/skullcaps for the Snipers and Demos to wear. Also, these headcoverings can be worn by the remainder of the recruits UNDER the helmet during the march and as the primary headcovering during the rest of the Con. We still ask that you wear your helmets for the parade.
The link to purchase the soft headcovers is http://www.sparklingearth.com/products.asp?category=100005
As there are a wide variety of choices on the site, we have tried to make it easy. The following headcovers are approved for use by the 76th:

Desert Skull Cap-Red--Item#202:202-1032 (for the Enlisted personnel)

Desert Skull Cap-Navy--Item#202:202-1034 (for the officers, commissioned and non-commissioned)

Desert Skull Cap-Black Air Flow--Item#202:202-2007 (for the Snipers and Demos)

Boots:
Not really a problem. Mid-calf or knee high boots. Shades of brown would be good.
BabyWithThePower has this to say regarding boots:

Quote:

As for the boots, wear them around the house if need be, just wear them. Also, get yourself a pair of wool socks. You can get ‘boot socks’ at any Army/Navy Surplus for a buck or two. If you wear gym socks you will likely blister. Keep that in mind. I found a couple of cool boots for those interested.
This is the pair I’m getting:

Nightsky (posting on the Proboard) came across this link: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/411,72195_Double-H-Gore-Tex-Lacer-B
oots-Waterproof-For-Men.html

BWTP has also come across a link for slip-on style boots. Most of the boots contained in here are acceptable...if you have a question, please do not hesitate to ask. Remember to think brown!
http://www.wwmerc.com/cgi-bin/Category.cgi?category=7100&type=store

Scarf:
UPDATED--The 76th will be getting rid of the green scarves for the Non-commissioned officers. They will now be wearing the blue scarves of the commissioned officers. (This will be done so we have less to deal with costume-wise and it will be easier to match the soft headcover that has been made available)
It has also been decided to use blue scarves for the comissioned officers and red for the enlisted. As far as the type of cloth, try for something lightweight, possibly a crepe material. Try to match as closely as possible the colors in the 76th patch for the blue and the vests for the red.

Belts, ammo packs, backpacks, etc:
Look around. A brown belt isn't hard to come by, and holsters are relatively easy to find. SAXON has a large number of holsters available.
saxon1014@hotmail.com for more info.
Tristan may also be creating a leather shoulder-bag for those that are interested. More on that as it develops.
LostThought found a link to some canvas shoulder bags that can be used as ammo bags:

&Store_Code=MSS&Product_Code=088167&Category_Code=23

Patches:
www.OutToTheBlack.com carries the patch that we will be using. The star is a navy blue, which is the color in the Firefly Companion book.
Thank you again to Sister for getting these patches into my hands so we could see what they looked like up close and personal.

We have decided to wear the Independent patch on our right shoulder, and the 76th patch on the left shoulder. The Independent patch will be worn as Mal wore it, with the star point down, as seen in this screen cap from the pilot episode:

There has been some debate about this; that this was not the "intended" way it was to be worn...but, as this IS the way Mal wore it, we have decided that is the way we will wear it. There will be no deviation from this on the uniforms of the 76th Battalion.

Gloves: Up to the individual.

Weapons:
This is the one area in which we have agreed to stick to a certain type of rifle. The main weapon of the Independents was the H&K G36K. I am aware that quite a number of you have alternate weapons, but as we are seeking uniformity, we will only accept weapons from the G36 family.
Airsoft and airsoft-clones can be found for $20-$50, either from airsplat.com or ebay.

This picture shows two versions; the top one is made by CYMA and is called the CM.021, the bottom one is made by Double Eagle ans is called the M41. A detailed breakdown of both weapons is available in this thread:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=11&t=25575

BrownCoat1 found a more correct version on airsplat, but the price is a bit higher:

This one is more "screen-accurate".

Either weapon is alright, but for the sake of uniformity, let's stick with the G36 look. By this I mean let's not have anyone running around with an AK-47 or M16.

Sidearms were also discussed, and it has been decided to leave that to the discretion of the individual. I'll let BrownCoat1 sum it up for us:

Quote:

I find no reason to believe that an Independent army, formed by volunteers from border planets would be all that different. It could be that Mal's pistol was an individual weapon Mal either brought with him, was issued, or found on a dead soldier. I would think it highly likely that other browncoats carried personal weapons as well. I think we should try to stay unified to a point on uniform and long arms, but that if individuals want to add sidearms, knives, etc, it should be okay. It would give us that frontier, individual feel of the browncoats. Unified for a purpose, but still individuals.

So, the choice of sidearms is left up to the individual. Please let the CO or XO take a look at what you have chosen, though.

As for Demolitions, Nicodemus is currently working on several projects.
ArtCat and LostThought are also (at last posting...is this still happening?) working on casting grenades.

DocJubal, our newest Sergeant and the "go-to" for help and advice with modifying weapons, also has some good advice concerning firearms at the D*C march...and any Con in general:

Quote:

A gentle reminder here, fellow volunteers. Atlanta is an extraordinarily constume-friendly environment. (In Baltimore, the police would never let the parade happen, because of all the prop firearms; it's all but killed costuming at the Games Workshop tournament weekends there. In the NW, many of the ConComs, such as OryCon, are "weapons free" cons, and that's all she wrote.) Still; it'd be kindly not to give the DragonCon staff, or the Atlanta PD, fits. If you're kitbashing a sniper rifle, LMG, ATR, *make sure the business end has an orange barrel plug* for the parade. I think it'd be OK to make it removable for photo-ops later on, but make sure you HAVE one. Demolition teams are probably better served with satchel charges and the like than plastic "pineapple" grenade props hanging on a harness -- though one or two, discreetly tucked in a pocket for photo ops, probably does no harm.

DocJubal has also started a Weapons thread for help, advice, photos, modifications, etc:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=26000

BoomerGoodheart and her husband have made lanyards for sale to the 76th, with "76th Independent Battalion" on one side and "We Will Hold the Line" on the other. (Thank you for those!) Check these out!

You can get these directly from Boomer, or contact them through their website: http://www.legendaryleatherworks.com

We have discussed a Battalion flag, and have decided that for at least the first march, we should not have one. We will be marching with the SEBC at DragonCon. Fans of all types under one banner.

For those interested in marching with us, but unable to secure a weapon, I will be bringing several extra with me. I will also (hopefully) have extra coats, smocks, and vests with me at D*C.

RiverIsMyGoddess, our Medic (beer and cookies) is thinking about making a homebrew for the 76th. The discussion as to what type is still up in the air, I think.

We have decided on the subdued sew-on rank patches. They will be easy to place on the Type A uniform, but we are still bouncing around ideas on the Type B. It has been suggested to place the ranking on the shoulder along with the patch (I think that's what was meant). This is still open for discussion.
We will be wearing the US Army ranks, but upside down, per BWTP.
Here are some links to purchasing these ranks:

Quote:

If you order from here, these are the one's with rank equivelant:

E-2 = PVT
E-3 = PFC
CPL = Corporal (I know oyu know this, I'm posting all)
E-5 = SGT
E-6 = SSG
E-7 = SFC
1SG = First Sergeant

1LT = Lieutenant Going with 1LT rather than 2LT.
The rest are self explainitory.

Officers:
http://www.1800nametape.com/army-off.htm#DESERT
Enlisted:
http://www.1800nametape.com/army-enl.htm#DESERT

If you are unsure of your rank, check the main website, or email myself of BWTP.

We are also accepting design proposals for a T-shirt for the 76th. FireFlyGal has given me the email address of someone who can probably make up shirts for us. Please post design proposals on this thread so we can all look and vote.

Thanks to FlatTop for the shiny recruitment banner you now see in several people's sig lines. I believe he has offered to let anyone in the 76th use it...so please do!

WickedWren of the SouthEast BrownCoats, the group we will be marching with at DragonCon, has offered to take recruitment flyers to several Cons they will be attending over the next month. Thanks go to BoomerGoodheart for designing and forwarding this flyer. Recruitment is in full swing all over the place!

There is still an ongoing recruitment effort for the 76th, so if you know of anyone that would be interested, let them know about us!

We are also accepting entries for the 76th slogan. You may post these on the dedicated message board:
http://76thbattalion.proboards59.com/index.cgi

Still looking for more stuff I have missed...
If anyone sees anything I missed, please let me know.

Thank you to everyone involved so far! The 76th is growing thanks to all of you!

In one episode (name forgotten), our heroes are dealing with Patience. Ambushing the sniper, Jayne is shown then taking a weapon which I think looks like the Crossman NightStalker TK to which a barrel and a muzzle brake have been added. Can any one confirm this? I infer this was a military weapon which Patience had some how 'acquired'.

I'll assume the rifle you're talking about is this one:

Not sure the make and model, but I do know it's not an SL-8 which is the decided marching rifle for the unit.

Quote:

'Brown' stripe you say?
I thought it was black, as that would be the traditional color for Infantry. Wide stripe for NCOs, thin stripe for offices, no stripe for the 'high privates'.

I second Tristan's statement. The stripe on Mal's pants was brown, and that's what we're going to stick to, for the same reason we're wearing the Independent patch star point down, as it's how Mal was wearing it.

Quote:

I was given the firefly companion for christmas and beign the uber geek I am I immediately flipped to teh soldier section, the area it shows both sides of the patch with the codes on the back, one of the sketches shows the corners of the traingles darkened.... it is not a blatant sign of rank buuut could it possibly be how they showed rank? just color in teh corners of the patch?
I believe Magda hit the nail on the head. These simply look like design sketches, similar to any other movie or game that's out nowadays. Designers usually go through a ton of designs before they finally decide on one. And even so, if this was how they denoted rank there are a couple of reasons we won't:

1. Differences too subtle. It would be difficult to tell at a glance what someone's rank is.

2. And most importantly, it's not like we can go down and have one or two of these special patches made, they have to be ordered in quantities of 50-100+.

It's a good catch and suggestion, and if it was pheasable, we'd probably go for it, but again, the rank we're using is cheap and easily recognizable.

Oh, and a side note about my real mail sleeves. Turns out I won't need to buy a new bunch. With the size of the ring I simply had to change up from the 4-in-1 pattern to the 6-in-1 pattern. It seems to be coming out quite nicely. Once I find my damn camera I'll post a pic.

RIMG, I did not get the chance to say good morning to you in the other thread. So...good morning!
There is quite a bit to catch up on from the weekend.

BWTP, good morning to you, as well!
I hope your holidays were spent in the pleasant company of family and friends.

Thanks for the info on the patches. I was not entirely sure about that. I do think it would be easier to stick with "one for all" on those anyway, even if it had turned out the corners denoted ranking.

Good news on the sleeves, too!

Quick updates of my own...
I SHOULD have the newer version of the vest and the latest verion of the coat ready for photos tonight or tomorrow (I had no time to sew this weekend, or it would have been sooner). The cloth I found for the coat looks good, and falls and flows better than the cotton trigger.
I should also have the patches from Sister in the mail today (thank you, Sister!), so I'll have detailed photos (I hope) and a full "report" on whether or not this is the patch we will be using.

I think that's about it. If there is anything I missed, please let me know.

Thanks for the weapon picture - I see that this is definitely NOT the Crossman air rifle, but a 'kit bash' by some prop designer. I have purchase the recommended sniper rifle and it should show up in the next few days (Amazon, of all places, having a special).

Tristan, thanks for the photograph. Not only is the are pants and ribbed stripe very clearly brown, but I see the pants are 'cognac' or even 'butternut'. So, I plan to get a cotton pair ffom Blockaderunnerin butternut - that should do it.

Morning, Quandom!
I am looking forward to seeing your rifle.
As for the pants, those are the two pictures I used when trying to figure out what to put on for a stripe...and ended up with the grosgrain. The pants from Wild West are the same "wheat" or butternut color of Mal's; they just do not photograph all that well for some reason.

BWTP, I'm glad you figured out the correct ratio for your sleeves! For future reference, there is a way to make your own rings. I'll have Ben post or forward the info about it. (Making 'em yourself is time consuming, but probably cheaper in the long run. )

Tristan, if it's alright with you, before I make copies of the flyer to send to Serenity @ SEBC, I'm gonna go ahead and add the address for the OB. 'K?

BWTP, she is right about time-consuming...and you have to watch out for "spurs" on the links if you cut them yourself...and dremel-tooling them takes out too much metal; you'll end up with odd-shaped circles.

Boomer, no problem at all with the OB link. Our Proboard link should be on there, too, if you don't mind!

Morning, 76th!

Sister, the patches arrived last night! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
They look quite good. I have sent some detailed photos to BWTP, and he and I are going to talk about them a bit before making a firm decision.
But again, thank you for sending them! :hugs:

Oh, I'm so glad they got there!... Hope they work out okay. I thought they looked just shiney as could be! And they seemed to fit with canon...plus the measurements seemed to be fine with "our" patch.
Again; you are welcome...I figured you could use 'em as you figure out the "smock-up" and other things! My 'pants' **shudders** are en route...(sister quakes to think how large her butt will look!)...I also ordered the brown "womens" size suspenders. I'll report to the other concerned womenfolk in the 76th...and I will be honest!! Have a great day.

Sister, I am sure your butt will look fine in those pants! (Can I say that? ) Thank you in advance for the "report" on the women's pants. I am sure they will all appreciate it.

The patches look great, and I even put one on the coat I finished last night. I'll be posting pictures in a little while, so keep your eyes open for those!

Ok, here are the pictures I have been promising all morning.
This is the "final" version of the coat, with the cloth I have chosen to go with. It's a looser weave than the first one, with a better "flow" to it. I think there are about 2.5-3 yards of cloth in these, plus the same amount for the lining. Construction time is about two days, give or take. The buttons are from Hancock Fabrics and are basic four-hole 1" plastic coat buttons. The buttonholes were made using a tight, regular zig-zag stitch.
I am not yet sure of a final price. I am still aiming for $100.00 or under, and it looks like I should be able to hit that.
If there is anything y'all want to know, please ask!

Many more photos can be found here:

Remarkable.
You should eventually bring this out mass market, and I think the price point can be pushed to and keppt at $100. I am awed at how skilled some folk are. I hope you will contact other vendors of Firefly/Serenity product and have them make a market in it for you. They can get the Indepdendent and unit patches themselves, assemle, make margin on the integration. Or, you can sell through those that make the patches. All manner of possibilities.

Meanwhile, those who are members of the unit can get it at the price you are proposing or less, depending.

Question only on the color - some how I think it was a darker brown? No matter, I'll got with whatever is our standard.

Would it be possible to get a layout of the 'recruiting' graphic to be portrait rather than landscape. If this were posted at the 76ths home page, we can all download it locally, have it blow up to poster size to display and distribute at local venues (hobby shops) and 'cons.

Thanks, Quandom!
My first priority will be clothing the 76th. I like the idea of mass-marketing this, but I also like the idea of it being something exclusive to our Battalion. I'll have to see what happens down the road.
As to the color, it's a dark khaki. It shows up a bit lighter in photos than in real life. That is what I will be using to make the coats. I did say that there would be SLIGHT variations in color allowable to those that opt to make their own, but I would prefer they not go too much darker than what is shown. I will be sending cloth swatches to those asking for the pattern.
Thank you again for the comments!

Thank you, Sister! I am happy with the way it turned out, and I can tell you that it wears pretty well...I wore it to work to see what it was like, and it's not all that bad. It's pretty lightweight (it's about 50F here right now, and the coat is not quite enough to keep me warm), so it should be decent for the march at D*C.

NAUGHTYMAN

Tristan,
WOW,I am so completely blown away by this new coat,I can't even tell you!! Everything is perfect about it,the color, the drape of the cloth, everything! Please, sign me up for two of them!

Also,I noticed when I was studying the preliminary material at the beginning of this thread that there was a link to Browncoat patches.I have ordered these particular patches previously and I just wanted to let you know that they definitely don't have blue stars on them, they're black.I say this because I believe there was talk about requiring blue stars if I'm not mistaken.
Additionally, there has been a lot of talk about the stripe on the trousers but none about the one on the helmet. What paint should we use and what is the width of this stripe? Also, what sort of shirt goes under the vest?

Geez,I feel like the"question guy" all of a sudden.I really don't mean to badger you and I know we have plenty of time before DragonCon but I was just curious.

And before I forget,Ladies, your butts are probably just peachy no matter what pants your wearing! I really wouldn't stress about it too much! This is not a swimsuit contest! :)

Thank you, NaughtyMan! I am glad you like the coat. I am very happy with the way the cloth turned out, too (there are a lot more detailed photos on the Proboard if you care to check them out).
We have decided on the Blue Star patch, and I have updated the intial post on this thread...but neglected to post anything saying that in here. Thanks for pointing that out.

We are now using the patches found at OutToTheBlack.com...they have the blue star, and are quite nice. The patch sewn on the coat above is one of these.

As for the paint on the helmet, as soon as I get my hands on one I am going to start playing with it to figure all of that out...the color, the stripe, etc. Keep an eye here for updates on that.

The undershirt needs to be long-sleeved, and either black or brown would be a good color choice. The shirt I am wearing in the photos above is a three-button Faded Glory pullover from WalMart that only cost $10.00. It has a nice, loose-looking weave, and fits comfortably.

Thank you for the questions, and don't feel like you are badgering at all. These are things that are on other people's minds, too!

I agree with you on the female pants thing...but I got in trouble for mentioning that earlier...

If I may, NaughtyMan, Out To The Black had a black star patch before the Companion came out and found out the stars were actually blue. On TV, as you know they looked black but the color was changed when it was evident they were blue. So no worries on getting the "wrong" color now.

I'm trying to 'schmooz' a few college students (not in any morally objectionable way) to see if I can't get 'hold of Photoshop and/or Illustrator so's I can do something further.

As it is now, the current banner was done w/MS Paint (y'know the software that came with the Windows operating system?), and I've since moved to an iMac which has NO, none, zero, zip, nada, total hard vaccuum devoid even of the occasional random Hydrogen atom - graphics manipulating capability out of the box. I've tried a couple of 'freeware' and 'shareware' downloads, but have been unsuccessful so far at even duplicating what I've already done (one locks up, the other puts DEMO all over everything unless you buy it (for much less than Illustrator, but still far more than I'm willing to part with).

I do hereby release any and all claim to the banner, and do expressly encourage further developement by better equiped, and/or motivated Browncoats. The actual 76th icon is someone else's, and you'd best do a sight better job of giving that person or group credit than I did.

Oh yeah, and fix the spelling of the Colonel's name while you're about it. Sorry about that Sir, but I can't get it without resupply.

I too was at BBB, weatiing my Alliance impression all weekend. I had broght a 'browncoat' soldier impression as well, but a number of attendees were kind enough to praise my Alliance impression and urged me to keep it going, as no one else was doing one. Well, flattery will get you everywhere, and I guess it got me at Burbank.

I suppose if we need 'prisoners' to display I could always be persuaded to don it again.

Morning, 76th!

We have a few updates from the Proboard that need to be put in here...

Scarves...
We have done away with the green scarf for the Non-coms. They will now be wearing the blue scarves of the commissioned officers.

We have made a decision on the soft headcover. BWTP found this link:
http://www.sparklingearth.com/products.asp?category=100005
As there are a wide variety of choices on the site, we have tried to make it easy. The following headcovers are approved for use by the 76th:

Desert Skull Cap-Red--Item#202:202-1032 (for the Enlisted personnel)

Desert Skull Cap-Navy--Item#202:202-1034 (for the officers, commissioned and non-commissioned)

Desert Skull Cap-Black Air Flow--Item#202:202-2007 (for the Snipers and Demos)
