Hello Littlealbatross:

That is very true. I have grown from the experience. It was not an easy road and I don't recommend it, but I have found that path in the woods Mal talks about and friends to help me on my way. I found many of them here. Thank you all for your huggs.

I have learned enough about my father to know he also had a rough life. Flying above a city and dropping bombs on it does not help your mental stability. I certainly know he tried. So If I sound bitter at times, it passes and I move on.

I understand completely. The bitterness comes & goes depending on how long I think about it.I even let her see my kids which I never thought I'd do.Ever.
It's easy to forget that while they were busy screwing us up that they were just screwed up people themselves.

Ain't our Browncoat friends the greatest !

Oh squee! NVG, Baby V is totally adorable!! She is positively edible Honey!! What a sweet picture of her... Thank you so much for sharing - and I 2nd MsG's comment - kids really make Christmas what it should be - don't they?

And your Tristan bag is so very pretty too... he is very talented... isn't he?

Though I have to admit that my Kaylee jacket is prettier... but then, I don't think it's quite your colour NVG...

Ugh. There's nothing more festive than a bout of Yuletide food poisoning. I spent two hours last night retching up my meals, then retching up nothing when my meals had exhausted themselves. Every ten minutes succumbing to the dry heaves, not fun by any stretch of the imagination; I really don't know how those bulemics do it...

At least it's all done with. Stomach settled down, and I'm back on my feet. Oh, and MsG: Before you go into 'oh, poor baby mode' (which I know you'd just about reached by now), I'm alright. Just a short bout of admittedly dire gastrointestinal distress.

Let this be a lesson to all of you: While having a string of huge, hearty meals might look fun, don't be stupid like me and overeat. Turkey followed by pork, followed by turkey followed by two chickens... Yeah, you can see where I went wrong.

X-Mas was good, though. I got a couple of boxes of poptarts, in a flavor which can't be purchased anywhere in Canada, and the complete second season of BSG. No complaints on that front. I'm probably forgetting an imponderable, but I'm getting over food poisoning, so I have an excuse

--------------
I ain't lookin' for help from on high. That's a damn long wait for a train don't come.

James... Oh poor baby! don't fight it Baby... just feel the love

No seriously - that is too bad James! I am sorry that you were made ill by your festive feast... might be a while before you enjoy your pop-tarts eh? I suppose on the bright side they will last longer I was told that drinking Coco-Cola would kill almost any bug that can make you ill... I spent 3 weeks in the Philippines and was the only person in my group of 14 who did not succumb to any tummy bugs - and I put that down to the mighty killing power of CC!

Take care Sweetie!... Ah... I mean Baby... oh just look after yourself OK James?

James, I have always heard that mixing drinks can make you sick, but I never knew that mixing meats would have the same dire effect. Although as you mentioned, it might have been the amount. Holiday overeating is never good for the body. Good to know that you are feeling better.

Here is a ponderable I was thinking about last night. If this upsets too many of you, I'll get rid of it, but I don't really think it will be an issue (unless the general topic it comes from is a taboo subject, which I imagine it might be):

I'll let you know when I get there Jimi-bear... (sorry I couldn't resist )

And I came in here with a ponderable of my own... but I guess I should give this one more ponderance first - well here goes - I think the official line would go something like "If he genuinely regretted what he had done and asked God for forgiveness then he would be forgiven and taken into Heaven"... I tend to see him as a 'nescessary evil'... an instrument of God's work if you like. Without his actions the final act could not play out... a little like the guy who failed to deliver Romeo's letter from the Friar when he was in exile... oh - you get the picture!

My own is slightly church related, but not necessarily! I love the frankness and honesty (and sometimes naughty 'sense of fun') we have here - especially with my 'Iponderables Family'. I have just loaned my set of FF to a good friend who happens to be a minister at my church... which leads me to wonder - do I want folk from that part of my life getting to see the side of me that I share in here? If I do invite him to join (& there are other potential FFfans lurking at my church too) will it affect how I interract with my FFfriends and family?

Has anyone here ever hesitated to invite someone or thought "I wonder what this friend or those folk would think if they knew this aspect of my personality?"

(assuming that it all happened as written and there really is someone up there listening) I figure it's the least that God could do to let him in after causing him to go through the sort of torment that betraying his friend/brother would have caused in him.

As for your question, I suppose you should look at your life in the church and your life on here and see what really is different about them. I used to worry about what people would think when they learned certain things about me, but not so much any more. Personally I am amazed sometimes that you folks didn't run away screaming when you met me.

I can't definitely say that I believe in the literal view of heaven and hell, but if there was a heaven, I don't think that Jubal would get in. He might have had reasons for being evil, but still he was a pretty evil guy.

Magda, I have loaned out my DVDs a lot, but I don't usually invite folks to FFF.net. I don't think I'm worried about them being here, but I just don't see them as being quite as obsessed as I am. Since you mentioned it was your minister, that does put a different spin on the question. I really think that's only a question that you could answer. If it would make you feel ackward, then don't invite him.

Are you kidding?? You're way too shiny to run away from!!!

Actually - I am not concerned about inviting him per se... but it did make me wonder about some of the younger members of my church community - those who used to be in the youth group for instance... there is a duty of care when you are actually a church leader, and even though I am no longer their leader I still have a responsibility to them and their parents as I see it... I actually am planning to invite minister Dude to join FFF.net - though I know he wouldn't spend nearly as much time here as I do - but it could lead to others joining too...

OK - to take this in a slightly different direction - is there one group of friends/area of your life that you don't think you would be comfortable trying to introduce to another group of friends/area of you life?

EDIT: Sorry Kaylee-clone! I meant to say that I wouldn't hesistate to invite several folk who I know just wouldn't get into it like me either - but it is the younger, more impressionable ones that I would hesitate to invite - for the above reasons...

The age thing is a touchy subject. I consider Firefly and Serenity to be adult content because of the violence and the occasional sexual topics. I have come to find out that there are members of FFF.net that are teens and preteens. I did change a little bit on what I would post. I figure, if that it's something that might have been on the show, it's OK to discuss here. I don't feel comfortable getting too raunchy knowing that a young 13 or 14 year old person might be reading it.

If a 16 year old person has seen the show and they want to talk about it, I could do that. But I don't think I could recommend the show to anyone under 18. I think it's my teacher morales thing.

Does that help, Magda?

Kaylee clone - my 'youth' are all grown up - the youngest ones are 20 this year and there are many 21st I have been to... am invited to... but I still think I am seen by them and their parents as a major influence on them! I wouldn't change who I am and what I express here - I believe that it is the responsibility of the parents to know what their children are doing on the internet and if this is the worst they come across (our honest discussion about things that matter to us) then they will be OK... but I don't want people on whom I have and might continue to be an influence... I know there is a degree of anonymity, but it wouldn't take them long to work out who I was if I had invited them...

Yes, RIMG, that is my own experience... to stressful and exhausting at times... though there are groups of friends who blend well too!

Magda, VE and RIMG ! Good morning my wondeful friends !

Since all my friends are here excepting my best friend I have no problems like that to worry about.I have plenty of aquaintances but they don't count past hanging out with the kids after school.
In the past whenever I introduced friends to other friends they always went off & became sloser friends than I was with them..

Good question .

Morning, all!

Qing ren!

I missed a lot last night...Traveler, I sort of understand about the father thing. My bio father and I have not spoken in something like ten years.

JTD...man, I am sorry to hear about the belly thing. But, when faced with that much food, one must eat, eh?

Morning, RIMG! Did Judas go to heaven....hmm. I would not know.

Magda! Again, Very ninja-like with the PM, by the way!
As for your ponderance, I don't see why not. The more people that know about the 'Verse, the better we will all be!
I do still have a hard time trying to explain my love and devotion to Firefly to others...especially considering I have never goteen this "into" a series before. It's fun, though!

Morning, VE! Has it snowed over there yet?

Most of my friends are already from one group...and the ones that aren't never come into contact with the others...so I am not entirely sure if they would get along.

Morning, LA29! How was the cannoli?

Time for more coffee!

mornin' Tristan.

On the matter of other FF fans, I am with you in that some people I know who like the show are not even as close to my level of obsession (most people not on this site that is). Other people who do not know of it wonder how I can be so into a show that was cancelled in it's first season ( you, F**). It is kinda hard to explain the devotion, but hopefully I can at least get people to watch it and give it a try.

My LittleAlbatross!! It is totally mutual - I hope you know that sweet friend?!!

EDIT: RIMG... I totally agree with you on friends not understanding my devotion to the show - when I gave my copy of FF to my friend the MinisterDude, his wife, sho is a good friend of mine too (we'd just come home from seeing 'Little Miss Sunshine' at the cinema, actually) said - "is this just the first season? Are the others out on DVD yet?" and I had to explain with patience that it was axed in it's first season but since it was the most wonderful thing ever made I was a devotee and had to spread the word! She just grinned at me - her husband and I have a lot in common it seems...

RIMG, yeppers, that is a tough one to explain. I am close to my parents (my mother works in the same office, actually), and while they appreciate and are interested in my obsession, I still get the "I can't believe you are so into this!" every now and then. And it's odd, but my mother is very proud of the fact that the 76th is going as well as it is. Thirty-five years old and I still like getting praised by my parents for my acheivements.
I've managed to get my brother a little bit more involved, but while he may be a fan, he does not hit this level of devotion. But, I do have someone who gets the subtleties and in-jokes.

One thing that was neat was that when I got my brother into it, the next time I saw him he had two pages of printed Chinese pinyin from the series and he was trying to learn some of the more lengthy phrases and what they meant. He and his fiance aren't obsessed (yet) but I thought that it was neat that he was learning it, if only to be able to tell his friends off. :)

Good Morning!

Sorry I missed you, Magda. Being off for a few days I had some work I had to catch up on. But, whedonesque was my first stop of the day (squee!) and then I had to notify via email a few folks like myself who are itching to sign up.

My husband & sister like Firefly, but not like me. When I asked for Done the Impossible for Christmas, my sister said "Huh? Why would you want that?"

I can tell this might not be the best day ever.

1. Spilled my coffee (blasphemy) all over my desk, pants and the floor. My shoe is squeeking now from getting coffee in it.
2. Dropped a red rubber stamp in my lap and stamped "Delivered 12/27/06" on my stomach.
3. My ears are stuffed up and my throat is scratchy. Oh, I hope this passes quickly!

No worries we got lots more! Can't help ya with the Delivery Date although I could make a comment that would be quite unappropriate! (sp)

Tristan - I got pretty good at the Chinese when I spent all day writing fanfic, but some of it I didn't remember so well when he asked me about them. I have a list around here somewhere that I can study up on.

Mavs - *hugs* good morning dear. Sorry yours started the way it did. Maybe this will help, at least with the throat:

* makes Mavs a hot cup of raspberry tea, with cream, sugar, and honey on the side (not sure how you take it)

Thanks for the tea & coffee, guys. Maybe this won't be such a bad day after all.

Kel, I know there's a bad joke in that stamp mark somewhere. Luckily I'm wearing a green shirt so that stamp looks festive.

Judas in Heaven? I think so. Doesn't everyone get a chance to be redeemed? (Now I'm not the most religious, but I would think Jesus would forgive Judas.)

I got a book of Chinese slang from B&N when I was actively writing fanfic. I don't use the Chinese in regular conversation as much as I used to.

Mav, this is for you:

I hope your day gets better! Although, the stamp thing was kinda funny.

Morning, Kelkhil!

RIMG, there are a few short phrases I know, but I do try to study up on them when I can. I plan on being able to remember most of them by D*C!
I need to find the Chinese for "Medic, I need a beer, please!"

Morning, MSG. Sorry to hear things aren't working, but as Kaylee said "Have good sex!"

Oh, and I wanted to show y'all the shiny, shiny decoy I received from NVG...it's in a place I thought would be appropriate.

Thank you again for that, NVG...it means a lot!

(Wipes tear from corner of his eye)
Thanks a bunch Tristan.

Good morning everyone. I had a vexing question, but I'm tryin' to catch up over here.

Geez Mags, those ninja kisses kinda sneak up on a guy. Don't get too good at them. I'm liable to keel over with surprize.

And MSG, heaven forbid. More sex.

So, on to my question. How many people have there been all through time? I was thinkin' about tryin' ask Yahoo, but I wanted to hear what y'all had to say first. I mean, c'mon. Browncoat opinion counts the most, don't it?

It calls again. Asking for her sons grandma. Pissing me off. ARRRGGGGGGGHHHH!!!

I tire of folks who can't be straightforward and truthful. I still wanna pick it up by its head and shake She Who Shall Not Be Named, not so much to put some sense in her head, just for the satisfaction of the whole thing. Why does this bother me so much. I let someone hurt me without explaination. In a way its my own fault... Fuck that. I put myself out in a way that I am so rarely capable. And I was dumb enough to trust someone to pick up the one thing I can offer so few.

I'm spending money at lunchtime. Not on anything expensive, but something fun. Any suggestions?

aw small bug zapper to hide in She who must not be named's purse?? A box of the tea that makes you all drowsy you could feed to her and make her fall asleep so we can shave her bald and drag her through the streets by her ears? a large piece of cardboard on which we can write "worthless tramp with the brains of a demented flea lives here" to place on her lawn? I could really keep going and going...however I'd suggest a small bottle of bubbles and a slinky. Those always make me smile:)
